  1. I am one week post op. I am totally struggling. I have diarrhea every time I eat. I talked to my dr. They called in a prescription that cost 7,000, called dificid. I have no energy at all. My regular dr won’t do anything be because he doesn’t want to go against the surgeon. Waiting to hear from my surgeon…

For those who are around 1 1/2 post op would you be ready to drive 5 hours to see friends and family for a long weekend? My surgery got moved to June 7th and I have a friends get together 5 hours away the weekend after. I’ll be 10 days post op. I know everyone’s post op is different but generally speaking???

I think if you stop every 1 1/2 hours and a walk a minute, would help with the circulation and not getting blood clots. My husband is in blood thinners for life- we always stop and stretch our legs to prevent them.

Hey y'all! I had my VSG on May 4th, along with a hiatal and abdominal hernia repairs. Everything went well except the JP drain they put caused me to have intense sharp pain in my left shoulder, most often when I bent to sit; the pain would then last for a good 20-30 minutes. I spent 6 nights sleeping on the recliner because of the pain. Thankfully, the drain was finally removed yesterday and I got the first good night's sleep in my bed in over a week!

I didn't have too much pain after surgery (other than the shoulder pain) except for on the incision sites. I walked every couple of hours, many times in a hunched position because of the shoulder pain, so that wasn't fun. I haven't had any issues with getting in my fluids and Protein though it took 2 days before I could reach the minimum required. Healing has gone great and I graduated to the pureed stage yesterday but I couldn't do more than one pureed meal. I'm still having a lot of gas in my stomach and have to take gas pills to help alleviate it a little. Dr says that should get better as I progress into the pureed & soft stages.

I'm sorry for those of you who have had or are having a tough time after surgery. I'm keeping you in my prayers for a quick recovery!

It sounds like you’ve had a rough go of it. Hope you are feeling a little better each day. I will pray for a great recovery. Mine is in 10 days and getting nervous. I have had a rough surgery 35 years ago, back in the old days (not Bariatric). And it was horrific. Medicine has come along ways. I am so glad they do laparoscopic surgery and have much better pain control . Hang in there it will get better..

Tomorrow is my big day and I’m not sure how I feel about it. I keep telling myself that it’s for my health. Having an autoimmune disease is already hard. I just want everything to go smoothly. I have a high pain tolerance. I’ve given birth to 5 kids all natural. As I have had surgery before. Just not sure how this going to feel.

Hi, good luck tomorrow! I have 2 weeks to go and I am pretty sure giving birth is much more painful, been there all of mine were natural as well. I am excited for you and hoe you have an easy recovery!

May 11th! Tomorrow is the day.
Duodenal Switch. What is everybody having?

I don't have any friends or know anybody else who has had Bariatric surgery before.
I would love to connect and add a few people on here to connect with. I know a support group makes a big difference. Please add me and I will add you back if you see this. 🙂

Hi, my surgery is May 24th. Started my pre op diet today. Good luck for tomorrow!! Yes it is good to have support friends!

I guess it could be a number of things. My original surgery date was canceled because they overbooked the OR. It could be blood work or other test. Doctor schedule. Insurance. Who knows. If you're doing what your supposed to and Insurance is cleared, I wouldn't worry too much.

Just checking in a week post-op VSG. I’m doing really well, meeting Protein and Water goals. I can take about 3 swallows of Water at a time, which works out to about 3 oz. Then I gotta allow 10 min or so before I put anything else down the chute. At first I couldn’t even get 3 oz of my Protein Shakes down at a time, but now I’m getting half shakes down 4 times a day. I also had some Greek yogurt tonight. I absolutely hated Greek yogurt before surgery, but was so good and felt good in my stomach too. I also now like unsweetened tea and I used to be 100% sweet tea girl. It’s absolutely crazy how your body changes.

Good luck to everyone with surgeries coming up this week. Thoughts and prayers are with you all. The pain doesn’t last forever, and things will get better quickly. Soon, we’ll all be looking back and celebrating our success and seeing these moments of struggle as just stumbling blocks on our journey!

Oh, and 22 pounds down from start of pre-op as of this morning!! 🎉🎉

    Much love to all! 💕

That is awesome!!! Keep up the good work!
