  1. Greetings Pete, your wonderful supporter wife (sorry don't know name yet), Trina and Dec Bandsters! Sounds like you guys are on your way! I have been walking 30-40+ minutes each day, which is wow, esp, since I am fighting congestion & cough...which would stop me before...but NOT now! Want to be ready to literally 'walk" thru the recovery! {{Is everyone doing lots of walking? I have been told getting moving before the surgery really helps in recovery. Fran in Florida Band Date 12.10.08 }} I too have been blessed with a spouse who truly supports me, he has lost weight recently (I think to prepare for us together), and also a good support sister who is now helping me to pre-op well! Learning that the support is going to mean a whole lot in the upcoming weeks. Have a good day!
  2. Hi Pete, Hi Trina, and Dec Bandsters! Thanks for taking up the challenge! There is something about accountability and working with others that gets me going, I have walked 30+ min ea day, when I could've easily excused myself (gotten lazy). Amazing how quick our bodies respond to just the simplest of efforts, my BPressure just drops when I get consistent! That is one of the medications I am hoping to lose, among others. I also found a pretty good heart rate monitor watch at Walmart for about $35., it is a Mio. It really helps to watch my rate while exercising, and then cool to see how my heart rate is still working at a good percentage after exercising! Have a blessed day of exercising and activity!
  3. That's 21-30-51 EXERCISE Challenge 4 12/08 Bandsters! (oops!) Good Mon Morn Dec 08 Bandsters! Can u believe only 30...less or more days for all of us to be banded & begin a new chapter in our lives?! It will be interesting to see the different pre-op plans, doctor requirements and more across the country! So the challenge...thought we all could start to exercise together today! Challenge: to exercise each day up to our Banding Dates...so it will fall anywhere from 21 days to 30 to up 51 days from now, to cover the month of Dec Band Surgeries. I am challenging myself to exercise 30 min+ for 30 days prior to my surgery. Anyone up for it? Thought we could log in our times/description of/how we're doing on the board, and ask Fla Pete to make a special siggie for those who are succesful! (I use SparkPeople.com to log in all!) (Lil extra story) At my local support group, I have met an incredible woman who is a bandster, who is in a wheelchair, with MS & knees waiting for operations. In just 2 months she looks wonderfully changed from being banded this year. Part of her story to share is that she can ONLY WALK under Water (aqua exercise) and yet she does it weekly to get healthy. She shared how important it was to do this Bfore surgery, and prep our bodies, with also a routine to get back into after surgery. She has been featured in a magazine, I will try to get a link, but her testimony has literally personally challenged me to MOVE! So, thank you for being a monthful of bravehearts to walk together with into a new chapter of our lives and 2BFine in 2009!
  4. Wow...Pete...you are a hoot! I really like that siggie, so whatever our name will be, will you make it right? Esp like the Dec 2008 Bandsters under it! btw...the cartoon dishes aren't so bad...being that we are hoping to get healthy enough to feel like kids again! Isn't that one of our rights in life...to embarass our kids? hehehe Have a blessed day of healthy choices!
  5. Hi Goose! Cool, we are increasing in numbers...hopefully more brave souls out there! I have heard of the one incision procedure, sure would be only that scar (+ the port?). It will be great to compare notes with everyone too! Have a healthy day of good choices!
  6. Hi December Bandsters...soon to have a or 3 names...lol Carol & Joann, Great thought, cause I have bought a couple of kids silverware (to make it fun) but have not used them yet, maybe now is the time! I have been using the smaller salad fork more. Hey, even you are forerunners, I and a few others 2BBandsters, go within a week after! Will be looking for your endearing posts!:rolleyes2:
  7. Cool Pete...just wanna say YOU are a braveheart just in the midst of these ladies! Have read your posts, and hoping you and your wife find the perfect jobs, blessed by the Lord above! It is in trying times, just stay on track, and con't to take good care of you, who knows, with all the energy you will get, maybe new job or promotion on the way! Have a healthy day of good choices! Roseyyyd1:rolleyes:
  8. Yeah Mjenkins, you found us! Can you imagine how our lives are about to totally change in just 5 weeks?! Yes, let us support one another, as a major help in this journey is just that! Where are you located (state), I am in Northern California. Also, don't forget to vote in the poll for the December Bandster name! Roseyyyd1:rolleyes:
  9. Happy Early Anniversary Fanny! So glad you posted in here...a true forerunner for us...looks like you are doing well! So...what was it like, amidst the holidays and winter season? I believe this is a really good time to get banded...but knowing we are brave to do this through the holidays. What a way to celebrate NYrs' Eve and going into 2009!
  10. Thanks Tamra for putting up the poll! I voted for 3 (hope is ok) so we could at least get it down to finalists. Congrats on your December Date, I like to say, it is a good time to get banded, so we don't 'sweat' the recovery...pun intended! We have a strong group and all of us will do well! Let's Go December Bandsters!!! (til we decide the name, hehe)
  11. I do! I do! It is my 3rd one (date) and believing it is the charm! Only 5 weeks to go, let us 'walk' it together! I will be having it done in San Francisco, couple of hours from where I live. So, is anyone 'nesting' like me, preparing, and what other ways, like shopping (bought my slippers & shakes)? So excited, we will be set for the new year, finishing up 2008 with a great tool...to be & feel fine in 2009!
  12. Hi ya,,,Kaiser Band Patients, and TO BE's...like me! Congrats Riley, that is great. Wish I could go with you, for support, but you will learn alot! Any questions, right here for ya, perhaps someday we'll meet up! My Pre-op is Nov. 25th, and new date is Dec. 10th which is cool, what a way to end the year, and start 2009 with a tool to look (AND feel) Fine! Hi to you to Minx, hope you are doing well, where are you on the journey? So, the cooler weather is here for us, which is good, so no 'sweating' the recovery, literally! Have a blessed day of good choices! :smile2:
  13. Hi all December Bandsters! Thank you Joann for presenting the list! I would like to vote on 3: December Stars Holiday Hotties December Degrees Just really like having December in the name, so how about December Holiday Hotties = DHH? Just a thought, whatever it will be, will represent us who are brave during this holiday time to step forward! Roseyyyd1:rolleyes:
  14. Hi December Bandsters! Hi Fran! Happy Anniversary Fran hehe. My folks live on the east coast in Florida. I live in North of Sacramento in Cal. So glad you are part of this group, by the way, guess we are buddy bandsters too! My new date is Dec. 10th and I am thankful for this date, (changes due to other circumstances) it is the 3rd one I have gotten, and the 3rd one is the charm! It is going to be a GREAT way to end the year of 2008 and start off 2009 to look fine with a great tool! So are you being banded in Florida? My surgery will be in South San Francisco, bout 2.5 hrs from home, which is Ok with me. Several Kaisers are closer if needed. My pre-op is November 25th, how about yours? So many questions, thoughts and emotions, so glad we have buddies in here to share them with! Have a healthy day of good choices!
  15. FRan, Are you from Jersey? What exit? hehehe j/k, I am from Long Island a long time ago, now live in Northern California, north of Sac/Roseville area. Where u from Fran? So, Band Buddy (BB) Goose, converted the hubby eh?, where from on Long Island? Mine is from Minnesota, but now we are both Californians although our childhood states still clash from time to time, lol.
  16. Hi Goose! Say, wanna be band buddies...although on opposites sides of the country, we can compare notes! I am actually from New York, Long Island, and we visited Jersey alot when I was little. 'Little' so long ago,,,but soon to be again! I am excited for December, are you going thru a nesting stage like me? Just want everything to look nice (i.e. if any visitors when recuping). I am also so glad to be doing this when it is cooler, so I won't 'sweat' the recovery, literally! Nice to meet you, and all our December family of bandsters! My Pre-op is Nov. 25th (just before Thanksgiving to keep me in line, hehe). So name suggestions are.... Winter Wonders Holiday Belles (if no guys) December Stars Holiday Hotties December Degrees Dec. Degrees into Holiday Hotties (hehehe - I know too long) Thanks to our leader Joann Marie for starting us off! P.S. I go to chat several nites a week, usually bout 9:00 PST, but can go earlier.
  17. Hi Numbrgrl, What a good point! I am hoping that will also help me, looking forward to new tastes with the new changes! Just not sure I will like spicy much more than now, i.e. if can't drink with it! lol Congrats on your success...another Sister forerunner with testimony! Would enjoy your full story anytime to glean/learn from. Have a blessed eve!
  18. Hi to all Bandster Bros & Sis... Just have a new date for surgery, Dec. 10th, bout 7 weeks away. Seen that JoannMarie is also December! The change came when we found that our church is doing a benefit concert (Nov. 19th) for our Missions Team next year...with Margaret Becker and Russ Taff! So, prayed and it has all worked out, with a new date! Hope to meet more sisters getting banded round this time, to walk with JoannMarie & Clempier thru this process and move forward like our forerunners, Phyllser, Brenda, Susan and more! Have a healthy day of blessed choices! He is our refuge!
  19. Hi to all December Bandsters! Glad to meet you all, I just had an official change of date to...December 10th! Looking forward to it, have been on this journey for just a year... I believe making this change right at the end of the year is a great way to end 2008 and ready to move on to a healthier & better body in 2009! I have Kaiser, and am going thru SSF in Northern California. Looking forward to getting to know you all, JoannMarie (patience of a saint!) Carol, Kathy, Tas, Goose, Fstop and Nina. Hopefully more will be joining us, but I wonder if Dec is not a first choice month as around the holidays? Are we brave and/or moving on with our time as now? I looked up the word Degree and would like to suggest December Degrees, degree = a step, i.e. of a threshold or stair, a standing or stage in a career or position. Or is it to boring? Just liked the December month and how we are taking a major step this month! So am just trying it out...Have a healthy day of good choices!
  20. Hi All Notorious Novembers... I have an official change of date (hopefully the last one), I will be having surgery in December of this year. Just wanted to wish each of you well on your journey with the band and i.e. getting healthy! It seems like a pretty good group going on as good support for one another! Blessings! Roseyyyd1:redface:
  21. Hi all, found out my date is Nov. 19th in SSFO. Anyone else around that time? Looking forward to it!:smile2: If you would like to visit the Sacramento Support group on Sat, Oct. 25th @ 11:00, it is for Post & Pre-op patients. A few of us ladies from here will be meeting there, possibly to develop a Band support group! Please let us know (through here) if you are interested. Have a healthy of good choices!
  22. Thank you Phyllser for your encouragement! My surgery date has changed from Nov. 12th to the 19th, which is a week before Thanksgiving. Figure this better, because still healing and not hungry as of yet? The Lord has His timing for our lives, so I believe it will go well for the November Bandster Babies! And, thank you for the inspiration YOU are! :smile2:
  23. Hi all Notorius November Bandsters! I have an official...change of surgery date! My new date is Nov. 19th, so I will be joining the ranks of allymb, cappy, tonice & janesays! It is actually ok, another week to fully prepare (good for procrastinators, hehe). Am glad it is getting into the fall/cooler months, so I won't 'sweat' the recovery days...literally! Have a good day of healthy choices!
  24. Hi Riley! I have met someone banded at Richmond, so I know that they do band. In my binder from SSF, it does have pages for specifically Lap Band. So maybe they haven't uploaded it yet?. Hope u are doing well in the process, so are u closer to Santa Rosa? I will be having surgery in SSF next month, and live north of Sac/Roseville area. Have a good day!
  25. Hi Clempier, I am not banded yet, but have surgery date of Nov. 12th! I have been 'diabetic' for a year, and only on Metformin. But I have heard of some who have been, and they are doing so much better! Welcome to the board, there are a few veterans here, which I have also learned, and gleaned encouragement from as well as good practical advice. Have a blessed day of healthy choices!
