  1. Any over 50 sleevers? Did you find the weight after surgery came off faster/slower than someone younger?

    Reheating food

I agree. I have problems eating chicken breast the first time around let alone reheating it. Actually a good piece of steak goes down easier than chicken for me!

    Reheating food

It's not just you! I have read that you should avoid the microwave as it dries food out making it harder for your stomach to break down. Its just a matter of how dry the food is, so maybe add a liquid when you can, or cover your items like chicken etc with a damp paper towel?
  5. Are you sure you are supposed to take vitamins right after surgery? i would ask your nutritionist. Mine held vitamins until about 1 month after surgery and at that time said i could take a regular capsule. You can take any form of protein either ready made shakes or use protein powder.

    Over 50 sleevers

Congratulations and good luck on your surgery!!! As long as the scale is going down, it doesn't matter how quickly we lose the weight!
  7. i very much agree with you, congrats on no longer being diabetic. That is the greatest news! I would have done the surgery many years earlier if i would have taken my primary care doctor more seriously when he first suggested it!!! Some times i have to refrain from giving others my input if they are overweight. It is just such an amazing tool, i wish everyone with a weight problem would consider having the surgery cuz i know what it has done for me and so many of us on here.

    Weight gain/stall 1 month pist

Start taking body measurements if you haven't already. Every month i take my monthly picture, and then take my body measurements. Sometimes even though the scale may not move as fast as we like, you will notice a difference in inches lost. I agree with others on here, don't obsess over the scale. I have to remind myself of this also. I still weigh myself daily but dont record my weight if it is the same. As everyone always says, stick with the program and amazing things will happen for you!!!
  9. I think you were one of the lucky ones. Ive also taken all my protein, vitamins, ate what i was supposed to etc and my hair is still falling out. Doesnt matter how we eat, it is just a natural thing that happens after losing so much weight so quickly. Happens to many but not all of us. It was also one of the best decisions ive made even though my hair is falling out. Ive lost 65lbs in 5 months and loving every minute of it! I feel (and look) so much better! Hair grows back. I feel better than i have in many years!
  10. Wow, what a difference!!! You look spectacular!

    Scared to eat

This is so true about starvation mode. I too was afraid to up my calories and in effect put myself into starvation mode and my weight loss stalled. As soon as i upped the calories, the weight started coming off again!!!

How to get all my protein in?

My nutritionist said she loves Premier Protein shakes and said i could drink them the rest of my life!

    Ladies!

I would definitely mention this to your primary care/gynecologist. Could be unrelated to the surgery. TMI.....Im actually enjoying it again as Mr. can find his way down there much easier with less fat rolls!

    Hello! I'm New here!

Welcome and good luck on your journey! i would definitely wait till after Disneyland! Your endurance will be lessened after surgery. I took FMLA and ran out of PTO so also was getting paid with Short term disability.
  18. I have crazy hormones but did not experience a stall for that long. I dont think it is just hormones. Your thyroid could be a culprit. I would look more into that. My longest stall was 2 weeks. I would talk to a different nutritionist who is also specializing in post weight loss eating. I am almost 5 months post op and only eat about 700 calories a day. I'm not a Dr so i cant give you medical advice, but i can give you support and say what i believe is true, stick with the program, get your thyroid right and im sure you will start losing again. Good luck, i know it is super frustrating but the surgery was not for nothing. Do you log what you eat? I use the Baritastic app and i love it. Are you eating a variety of veggies, fruits etc? Believe it or not but my dietician said i was not eating enough carbs. When i stalled, i cheated eating in a bad way (only for about a week) at the suggestion of someone else on this forum and I think it broke the stall! I also started taking a pre/probiotic by Celebrate brand. It is called Celebrate Balance. It is specially formulated for weight loss. I hope you can figure this out but until then keep your head up and keep fighting. You are bound to start losing weight again.
  19. Make sure you are getting enough fluids in as well. Your wife is right, it will take time for you to build up your endurance. Congrats on the weight loss so far!!!

    Over 50 sleevers

Good luck on your surgery and journey to a new better you! As far as telling people, i told everybody!! Some people are not that open though. Tell whoever you wish and if you dont want to tell others and they ask you about your weight loss after surgery just tell them you are eating less and watching what you eat.... that is the truth after all right?! I wish you much success on your journey!
  22. i work in the medical field and it seems more often than not many conditions are discovered while undergoing testing, surgery etc that is totally unrelated to what you originally went in for! So happy for you that those nasty things were found before they caused you a problem!!!
  23. i agree.....TMI....my area down there is easier for Mr. to get to 🤣
  24. My stall finally broke! I’m 4.5 months out of GSV surgery and have lost 62 lbs. Someone on here once mentioned to cheat and eat a few more carbs. I did that and I started consuming more calories and my 2 week stall finally broke. Don’t know how much the carbs had to do with it but I think I was consuming so few calories that my body was in starvation mode. Upped the calories to about 700/day and that worked! I know we are all afraid to overeat or consume too many calories, but make sure you are consuming enough!!
