    8 days post op

If you are not exceeding your portion size, then you wont "feel" the discomfort. Stick to the portion size. Also, pasta is a no no. I would not start "cheating" at this point in your journey. This is they honeymoon phase where we all should be very careful about what we eat. Pasta, bread, and rice have very little nutritional value and that kind of carbs are not good for weight loss.

    Gastric Sleeve Side Effects

I was also post-menopausal, but my hormones were still affected as i would just cry in the store trying to figure out what to buy as this was a new way of shopping after the procedure. We have to re learn how to shop, and cook and that felt overwhelming to me! I also am still in the process of losing my hair. It started at about 4-5 months. It falls out like crazy when i wash it. I like many others cut my long hair and opted for just above the shoulder length. I am 6.5 months post op so hopefully it will stop falling out soon!! As far as slowing weight loss, it will slow on its own. I dont think many of us on here have to worry about losing too much weight. There are a few, but a majority of us I believe are able to maintain without any more weight loss once we hit our set point. At least that is what I have read from other posts.

    Surgery Failure

so, whats the update? Have you lost any more weight in the last couple of months?
  4. Yes, mine too. x amount of protein and x amount of carbs/sugar.
  5. Sounds like they want you to spend your money at their office. They probably have a representative they deal with for Unjury brand. Mine suggested Premier protein and i drink their ready made protein shakes. I have had no bad reactions and my bloodwork is excellent.
  6. My nutritionist suggested ProCare with 18mg iron as i am past menstruation. I think they have a ProCare rep that gives them samples and that's why they suggested it? 🤣 I didn't like switching from shiny leaf bariatric vitamins but i cant find that one with 18mg iron. My bloodwork was always great with shiny leaf so we will see how it is after 3 months of taking ProCare. The Procare are more expensive also which i do not like.
  7. Read the many positive results a large part of us have on here. Although there can be some negative effects in some people, the majority of people on will say it was the best thing they have done and wish they had done it sooner.
  8. Sorry you are having such a hard time. I think what you are experiencing is not the norm for people who have undergone this surgery. I just had the surgery 6 months ago but (knock on wood) have not had any of the complications you are experiencing. I know this is the best thing i have ever done for myself and am thankful everyday that i had VSG. It is permanent, but so is the weight we have unless we get help medically to lose it. The chance to lose and keep off 100lbs plus is 0% as someone else mentioned above. I appreciate your honesty and letting others know that these things can happen, but for someone considering this surgery, please dont be discouraged as the outcome this person had is not the norm. A majority of us think this is the best thing weve done and wish we did it sooner in life!

    TMI Poop Talk

i think it took about 5 days for me. I had my surgery 4/12/23 and still deal with constipation. Most of the time it is not bad though. I think i go either every other day or every 3rd day. One problem i noticed with this is you cant weigh yourself everyday if you cant poop everyday! 🤣 I do notice i weigh less on the days i poop!

    6 months post op

I will share my 6month post sleeve progress.....I am 54 and 5'1. I was 230 on surgery day, and now weigh 162.5. I have lost a total of 67.5lb. I have lost a total of 54 inches all over plus more, but I didn't start my measurements till 1 month post op. As of yesterday, I have lost 9 inches off my waist, 12 inches off my hips, 7 inches of left thigh, 8 inches off my right thigh, 4 inches off right and 4 inches off left bicep. 1 inch off my neck and 7 inches off my chest. Figures we lose weight in our chest 😭😜. I feel amazing already! I will be honest and say exercise has been at a minimum since the surgery. I know I will have to start exercising regularly for muscle tone, my heart etc. My 6 month bloodwork was awesome and all in the normal zone. Even my iron was in the normal zone this time. My A1C was 5.3 (it used to be 5.6-5.7). My cholesterol is 180 (which used to be 238 for many years). My knees hurt less, I am no longer on the CPAP machine, and I feel better about myself. I have not had any nightmare incidents relating to weight loss surgery. The only thing I still deal with is constipation which seems to have gotten a little better with broadening my diet. I average 700-800 calories a day. I consume 60-70g of protein. I know I do not drink what they recommend in ounces, but I am not far below the liquid requirement. This is one of the best decisions I have made in my life to help myself. Thank you to everyone on here for the great advice and support.
  11. since we cant edit our original post, i added my 6 month weight as a reply. Hope that works

    Olive Oil and butter

yes good idea! i have made my own. much cheaper!
  17. That is so true! All the little things add up to be big things! Congrats to you!
  18. nothing fancy for me. My nutritionist suggested Shiny Leaf Bariatric multivitamin with 45mg iron. They are not as expensive as some of the others. i like them. Normal capsule size, not huge, easy to swallow and dissolve quickly after you swallow them. My numbers at my Dr visits have all been in the normal range.

    Blood work

every 3 months for the first year
  20. I didnt understand that i was supposed to take this medication for the first 3 months after the surgery. I thought they were on an as needed basis so i never took them. I read up on the effects and like you decided not to take them. Im glad i didnt!

    Answered prayer.....GOAL!

That is so amazing!!! Congratulations to you! God is great!!!
  22. i bought an expensive unflavored protein powder and believe me, you do not want to add it to plain water!!! YUCK!!!
  23. I agree with you! i have done very little exercise. It is mostly just what we put in our mouths, and cutting back on the quantity of food we eat that makes us lose weight. Of course i would never tell anyone not to exercise because we all need it for our joints and cardiovascular system, but as far as losing weight i have found it to be not all that important.
  24. Sorry you were so sick!! Even with the sleeve, we have to remember not to eat too fast! Ive done this and regretted it for about an hour as someone else mentioned above. No matter what surgery, when we eat something so delicious, we all have to remember to eat slooooowwwwllllly! I suppose we should look at it with the idea that we should savor that food that tastes so good rather than scarf it down.
