    Hi Everyone,

I know it’s now May - I have only just joined BAriatric Pals and just found your post.

I had my MGB on Valentines Day! 14th February 2023!

I hope it’s not too late to make friends - goodness knows I need you for support if you’re willing! I’ve not had it particularly well to date so feeling rather alone.

albeit today is a much better day than the previous 50 I can wholeheartedly say I’ve regretted this surgery so far. I’m hoping this will not be be forever however!

looking forward to hearing from you.

    ❤️🥰

    Hi ShelleyBelley,

I am post op now (VSG surgery was 2/22) and would love to help out. Can you give us a little more information about your procedure and progress so far?

  2. Such varying experiences on here I see. I was sleeved on 2/22/23 and am completely on all normal foods even a few days before the 4 week mark. I do have to separate eating and drinking. It is amazing to have control over food. Felt amazing to have one slice of pizza and be able to say no to more. I actually miss drinking a 'big ole chug' of liquid a lot more than eating!

I have had a few doubts along the way but constantly remind myself that I was never able to consistently stay at a lower weight for the first 40 years so why do I think I could do it now without the sleeve...."food" for thought!

Hey BigAndTall, glad to hear that your surgery went well. Mine was also 22nd and I came home from hospital yesterday. I’m doing ok with Water but the food/vitamins/meds regime is a bit challenging. It seems like I need to be constantly sipping on Protein Shakes or Water. And fit the liquid meds in too. I’ve written a schedule for it so hopefully that will help. I have some pain around my incisions but it’s getting easier every day

I am definitely missing my marks on Protein, mostly because I just want cold, sugar-free sports drinks and my energy is just fine so far. I have been forcing myself to consume more Protein Drink. If I were actually getting what I was supposed to, I'd be less happy about the effort 😐

  4. Had my sleeve on 2/22. Excellent experience so far. Manageable pain, am able to get fluids down, and I can definitely feel the restriction. By biggest issue is the lack of savory options I see out there. So far, just microwaved broth which is pretty good but I can't wait for the next phase. No head hunger nor stomach hunger that my liquid diet isn't satisfying.

Down about 29 pounds since Feb 1st when I started dieting before my 2 week pre-op LRD.
