I’ve been worried these past few weeks, since I went on a work trip and felt I messed up with my eating plans. I honestly think I have hit a stall because of this. I’m not seeing or feeling any changes in the way my clothes fit.
    HOWEVER....
I just had my yearly OB check up, and for the first time in over 20 years... there weren’t any cysts on my ovaries!!! I have been diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) since I was about 17-18, when I was still a healthy weight. It’s something that wouldn’t go away with diets, medicine, or anything else. NOW, 8 months after my WLS, still weighing about 50 lbs (23Kgs) more than I did as a teenager, I’m PCOS-free, with no meds!!!
And chatting about it with my medical team, they reminded me that the changes are not only on the scale.. but the overall improvement of our health. And not to let a little bump on the way (trip) or a stall to negate all the progress that I’ve made.

I am 6 days post-op and was able to tighten my Fitbit watch by 1 notch. It's the lil changes that make all the difference 🙂

Genuinely weird one, not really a victory, but it's a thing:
For a few months, I've been noticing that my sheets feel like they're bunching up in bed when I roll over. Which doesn't make sense because they're stretchy jersey sheets and don't really have any give. Plus, when I sit up and check, there's no loose fabric there.
... because it's not my sheets, its the loose skin on my back folding up. 😐
Also, I finally figured out what everyone on this thread means by "don't have to do yoga to wipe". I didn't realize that it was possible for regular-sized people to reach down without twisting at all. Wild.
(I wasn't fat as a kid or a teenager. Have I just been doing extra yoga my whole life for no reason? I guess so!)

I am not sure that this is a victory, but it's something.
Half way through my day Sunday, I realized my wedding ring wasn't on my hand... Started panicking because I couldn't find it anywhere. I knew it was getting loose, but it had never just fell off.
Turns out it fell off in bed. So my fingers are officially smaller than they have been in like 8 years.

The HR ladies have been chasing me to change my company profile photo for some time now. I finally managed to take some shots at home over the weekend with the help from my wife (semi professional / hobbyist photographer here) and I was quite happy to see the difference. Featuring my first suit after WLS (Size S, slim fit 😃) and the same tie. Left is the old photo taken in 2020.
The session was way shorter than before since I was not worried about finding the angle that doesn't make me look huge. The time it took me to edit these was also considerably shorter since I didn't have to photoshop certain parts "read a lot" of me that I didn't like. I can finally say I'm at peace with the way I look in photos!

participated in a NUDE PHOTOSHOOT yesterday. 😂😳😂😳
this would have been unheard of before omg. while i always kinda had a good amount of confidence, apparently post-wls, my confidence has been thru the roof.
i jumped on a promotion that would've given me a free shoot and a single photo; but of course i ended up buying a package of 10! figured i should have some sort of proof of this body before further aging takes it all away!
it was super fun. and bad-assery inducing, ha! i highly recommend!

I take a door-to-door shared transportation service here in the Lehigh Valley called Lantavan. They pick me up at home, take me where I need to go, then come back and get me later. The seat belts would never fit me. The driver would always have to rig-up an extension to a hardpoint on the floor. About a month after surgery, the belt started fitting without needing the extension. Such a little thing made me feel fantastic, that I was accomplishing what I have been unable to do for years.

I find this more funny than weird. My iPhone thinks I'm a different person before and after the surgery it seems. Photos of me before and after the surgery were grouped separately 🤣 . I told my wife my iPhone is broken and I need to get the new iPhone 15 when it comes out lol.

Then again a lot of people that I've not seen for a while don't recognize me these days. The next time I see one of those negative people around, I will continue to pretend I'm a different person.

5 mile hike today! Would have been inconceivable pre-op. I was so terrified to do anything physical because I never knew if my body would cooperate. Feels great to know that my body is now my friend, not my nemesis.

Today, I was able to do a hike at 14, 265 ft. on the top of Mt. Evans in Colorado and not be completely out of breath or have muscle fatigue. Here's a couple of pictures from the summit.

I'm only 18 days out, down 24 lbs since first going to surgeon...I usually put lotion on my legs and feet every night and last night I realized that even though there is still some surgery discomfort from incisions, I could put my foot in my lap and could play with my toes without issue! This is a game changer because for a long time now I have been paying for mani/pedis mostly bc it is painful to reach my toes as I have major back problems but just the little weight I've lost so far makes it not hurt to get to my feet!!!!
It may be a while before I can do my own pedicures but I was just so surprised

A few NSV, I can finally close the towel around me, my hubby folded my tank top and put in his drawer thinking it was his, and my digital scale kept giving me a warning to have the app open when weighing in because people were within same range, I thought it was me because I was trying to see how much my weight fluctuated and how that affected my body fat % but turns out I'm 8 lbs lighter than my husband.

Before I lost the weight, I cringed any time I saw a camera and lived in fear of photos being posted online. Now, I'm like, take all the pictures you want. I'm constantly posting selfies and pictures of myself with others online. It's so much fun. One of my favorite NSV.

I have two brothers- my older brother is heavy and my younger brother has been thin. I always thought I looked more like my older brother, and nothing like my younger brother, Soon after I lost the weight, I was going through some photos from a family gathering and thought- "why is my younger brother wearing the same shirt as me?". Then I realized it was a picture of me that I was looking at.
