  1. All I was required to do was take a shower the morning of my surgery - no other special instructions.
  2. Weight last Friday - 237.4 Weight today - 233.4 so I lost 4 lbs this week - I had my first fill on Monday so I now have 4 cc in a 10 cc band and I am feeling some restriction finally.
  3. I too felt sick to my stomach for about an hour after the fill and my legs were a little shaky. I did clear liquids for 24 hours and am back to my semi-soft diet again starting today. I had 2 scrambled eggs for dinner last night and they went down okay. My doctor/program also says absolutely no protein drinks or protein bars. I had a couple protein drinks during my full liquid stage as I was starving, but I didn't write them down on my food diary. What I learned from this is not to write everything down. As long as I am losing, I don't need the grief.
  4. I miss pasta and rice too. I was told not to eat it at all as it swells up and will eventually stretch your pouch. Same with soft bread. Makes me kind of sad.
  5. I asked my dietician and my surgeon if there was anything to help avoid the hair loss and both of them said no. With rapid weight loss comes hair loss. I have noticed more strands coming out when I brush my hair, but it is not noticeable to others yet.
  6. let me know how it goes. I agree, I don't know why they have to be so negative. Being a little encouraging would go a lot further.
  7. I had my first fill yesterday and was told 24 hours on clear liquids, 24 hours on soft foods and then I could go back to regular food .
  8. I was told not to eat pasta at all as it swells up once in your pouch and can stretch your pouch. Maybe in your case the pasta swelled up a while after you ate and that is what gave you that over full feeling? They told me bread and rice will do the same thing.
  9. If you are talking about the Richmond Kaiser, you can get it on line - Richmond Medical Center, Bariatric Surgery - go to the link on the left for the bariatric binder
  10. I had my first fill yesterday - now have 4 ccs in my 10cc band and my surgeon said he wouldn't be seeing me until January - that's three months - so no additional fills until then. I don't think the fluid absorbs unless you have a leak?
  11. I had the same thing. The yellow bruising is a bruise that is healing. My bruises weren't all gone until about 2 1/2 weeks post op.
  12. I had my first post-op appointments with my dietician and surgeon yesterday in Richmond. I had to bring my food diary with me for the dietician to look over. I knew I had made a couple of poor food choices - which she pointed out and then she said she wasn't going to scold me. I had eaten a Protein bar on a couple of occasions which she didn't like, plus I had eaten a hotdog bun and chow mein and fried rice. Then I saw my surgeon - the dietician had already filled him in on my food diary. So although she didn't scold me, he did. I told him I had lost 17 lbs since the surgery. I did get a fill - wasn't bad at all. He said I had 1 cc in the band already and he added 3 cc - so now I have a total of 4 cc in my 10cc band. I don't go back to see them for 3 months, but I have to have some blood work before then. I am on Clear liquids until this afternoon and then on soft food for another 24 hours.
  13. I had my surgery at Richmond Kaiser. From what I have heard, Fremont Kaiser is the most crowded of the three Kaisers in the bay area. It took me less than 5 months from when my PCP sent a referral to me having the surgery. Everyone who was scheduled for the orientation was in effect approved as long as they followed the rules. Is there any way you can get moved over to Richmond?
  14. weight last Friday 238 weight this a.m. 237 so I am down 1 pound - so I am up to 48 lbs - 30 prior to surgery and 18 since. I see my surgeon for the first time since my surgery on Aug 26 and I am hoping to get my first fill as this is getting tougher.
  15. My doctor told me no driving if I am still taking the liquid Lortab as it would be dangerous. I drove towards the end of week two and it was still painful to look over my shoulder.
  16. I agree. Wearing pants weren't a problem due to the location of the incisions. The problem was my bra - the bottom elastic of the bra hit right on a small incision. I stayed home for two weeks after surgery and just wore a really baggy t-shirt so I didn't have to wear my bra.
  17. I couldn't figure out how to start a new thread so I will ask the question here. Does anyone know of a LapBand support group that meets in the Sacramento area? Elk Grove? The only support group I have found is for gastric bypass. thanks.
  18. This is what I ate yesterday: breakfast - 1 hard boiled egg, cut up and mixed with mayo lunch - 1/3 c pork (was cooked in slow cooker) dinner - 1/3 cup ground beef My program doesn't allow Snacks or Protein drinks. They would like us to eat 1/4 - 1/3 cup of protein per meal, but 1/4 doesn't cut it for me.
  19. What I was told is that I can't take extended release pills. I take prescription pills every morning - one a little pill and one normal size capsule. Also no ibruprofen. They also said I was okay to take Tylenol caplets.
  20. I took my kids to Subway today for lunch. I ordered the mini tuna sub - it was $2.39. I had ordered foot longs for my kids and then the mini sub. The girl seemed surprised and made sure I knew how small the mini sub would be. There was maybe 1/4 c tuna on it. I ate the tuna and the bread, but I could have just eaten the tuna. The one time we went to Togos, I had a small chili.
  21. weight last Friday 241.1 weight today 238.5 so I lost 2.6 lbs this week. I am hoping for my first fill on Oct 6 but my surgeon won't say whether I'm getting one or not.
  22. I asked my surgeon if he put anything in my band when he did the surgery. He said no, they just prime it to make sure it is okay.
  23. Since starting mushies I have been constipated and have only gone about every 3-4 days. I bought some Benefiber to add to water a couple times a day and it has helped some. My bariatric binder says we can't take Metamucil - I think because it swells up. They told us to use Benefiber. They also said said since we are not eating much, we won't need to have a bowel movement every day.
  24. I just started the soft diet stage today (scrambled eggs, soft meat etc). I asked my nutritionist if I should be worried about calories or weights of my food and she said no all I need to do is measure. I am supposed to have 1/4 - 1/3 cup protein and if I am still hungry 2 tblsp of fruit and 2 crackers or 1/4 piece toast. I had bought a small food scale at Target but I took it back.
  25. last week 242 today 241 down 1 lb. I just went to pureed food on Monday and don't see my doc until Oct 6 for hopefully my first fill.
