  1. Tamra - you can have hot or cold tea but no caffeine. I had my surgery first thing in the morning at 8 am. When they tell you what time you have to be there ask what time your surgery is - it is usually 1 1/2 hrs later - I had to be there at 6:30 am. My scale was back down to 219 this morning - what I was before Christmas. My food today - br 5 Ritz crackers and 3 slices marble jack cheese, lunch 1 big cookie from Target snack bar - had peanuts in it too, dinner 1 grilled child sized hotdog and 1 piece garlic bread at Mike's Diner. I ate half the piece of garlic bread there and the other half when we got home. I went to the gym and rode my 9 miles and did weights and then walked my dogs around the block when we got home. Also made a trip to Target and Walmart looking for report covers - the cheap kind - both places were sold out so ended up getting a better one my daughter will have to reuse for the next report. Boy the weather was weird today - storming and windy when we went into Target - not even raining when we came out. Sun came out this afternoon. Nicolie - I don't have texting on my phone anymore - my daughter asked where you were with your cheesecake. Let's all try to make good choices this week - we can do it.
  2. What is dieter's tea? Just finished my laundry. We went to the gym before dinner - my legs were burning when I was riding the bike - I rode 9 miles up and down hills in 30 minutes. Nothing much planned for the extra day off tomorrow - no doubt it will rain. Donna - where are you? Is your cat okay Candra? Riley oh Riley where art thou?
  3. Where was everyone? Heather, Maria and I had dinner at my house and talked for 2 hours. I heard Candra was at the vet with her cat and Nicole sprained her ankle, and Tina was at a performance with her daughter. Where were you Donna and Nicolie? Hope you are okay. It was nice to see you Heather and Maria and the food was yummy. I am going to try that chicken recipe Heather. I just went and picked up my dogs from my mom's house - my 13 yr old is spending the night over there. I had a handful of dark chocolate covered raisins while I was there. Didn't make it to the gym today but I burned calories cleaning house fervently. Gonna go tomorrow. Maria - I forgot I can't go to that 24 Hour Fitness - my membership is one club only.
  4. Lee - I live in Elk Grove - not sure where you live, but everyone is welcome. I've been up since 7:30 am - got the house cleaned (downstairs at least), eggs boiled and I just need to make a quick trip to the store to get a couple of items. My 13 yr old son is going to my parents' house with my dogs - but my other two will be here. Two kids are over playing right now and I told all of them they'd better not make a mess. Sorry you can't make it Nicole - keep your leg elevated. Not sure who is coming, but we'll see when everyone gets here. Need to go make the deviled eggs - see some of you later. :w00t:
  5. Finally got a moment to sit down and log on. I was gone from the house from 7 am - 5:30 pm today - and it was a furlough day. I went on a cool field trip with my daughter's 5th grade class to the Discovery Science and Space Museum to do the Mission to Mars. We had to be at school an hour before school started and we got back at 1:30 - I made some photocopies and read my book. We went to the gym after dinner - my fifth day this week. Can't go tomorrow as I have to clean my house for my ladies and do laundry and make deviled eggs. I so can't wait to sleep in tomorrow - was up at 6 am today.
  6. Tamra - you might end up sleeping in a recliner if you have one - I did for at least four days - laying down flat and having to get up hurt too much. Candra and everyone else coming on Sat and bringing food - you don't need to bring alot as we can't eat very much anyway - I lost count how many people are coming - I guess we'll figure it out when everyone gets there.
  7. Tamra - from what they told us a the pre-op surgery you will have to take at least one nail off. Any of you that had more recent surgery - is that still the rule? I'm stuck at work until 4 pm which is two hours longer than I normally am here - ugh. I will take the two hours off a different day - why do people schedule meetings so late in the day? Well at least it is late in the day for those of us that come in at 6:30 am. I had oatmeal for Breakfast, having my 1/3 cup tuna for lunch and I had a Slimfast bar (120cal) for a snack a few minutes ago.
  8. Man we were all typing messages at the same time. My take on what Liz said is that if they don't provide us support - which they don't once you have been banded awhile - we have to create our own support. The support groups like at Point West don't provide enough support to last me all month. The meetings at Elk Grove Kaiser are every Monday but they are from 7-9 pm -too late and they are all gastric bypass people. Where do they think we are going to get support? They truly should have regular support meetings set up for LapBand patients in Sacramento. We are different than bypass patients in regards to fills and what we can eat without problems. Do they really believe we can eat 1/4 -1/3 cup protein for each meal forever? I don't think that is realistic. Enough of my ranting. I am watching "One Big Happy Family" that I recorded. The daughter was excited to fit into a 24 shirt. Those poor kids. They seem really happy though.
  9. Wow Tamra how exciting - almost better as you don't have a lot of time to think about it and get nervous. Went to the gym again today - rode the bike 10 miles in my 30 minutes. Hopefully the scale will start moving- the silly 3 lbs I was up on Sunday are gone - now need to lose 2 more to get back to my pre holiday weight of 219. I am going to have to change my ticker soon if it doesn't start coming off. Maria - I don't know how many people I have - let me try this - me, Candra, Heather, you, Nicolie, Nicole, Donna, Tina and Michaela, - was there anyone else coming? So far for food I think we have black beans, low fat cheesecake, your lettuce tacos, Special K loaf, shredded chicken and I think I will make deviled eggs and little smokies in sauce. I will make something for my kids and anyone else's in case they don't our lapband food. I have bottled water and diet green tea.
  10. The potluck is Saturday at 5 pm at my house. I still have no clue what I am making. Nicole doesn't get off work until 4 pm so I had it start at 5. I picked up my generic Wellbutrin and started it yesterday afternoon. I have to remember to take the second dose before 4 pm each day so it doesn't affect my sleep. I'm off to a training class -
  11. Tina - my PCP sent me an e-mail back and sent in a prescription for me for Buproprion - the generic form of Wellbutrin that I can pick up tomorrow - the dosage is 150 mg twice a day - he said he doesn't start with it as an antidepressant as one of the side effects could be seizures - no one I know who has taken it has ever had a seizure so I am willing to try it. I told him I had read that Wellbutrin has less sexual side effects and could I try it. Jeez, I sure am not worried about the sexual side effects but it worked. He now thinks I am getting/wanting some action - oh well he's a doctor. I took my oldest son to Kaiser after school to get his warts froze off - poor guy he was really in pain. I took a break from the gym today - back tomorrow - gosh I think I need to put Bengay on - serious sore muscles. Went out to dinner with my parents and kids - I had a small chicken thigh (took off the skin) and one french fry - ended up pbing the last bite. I think I didn't chew the chicken well - I forget I can't eat like normal people. Sometimes I wish I had the sleeve too Tina.
  12. Congrats Nicolie - were you able to do the urine sample here in town? You can check online daily to see if the results are in and then call Richmond to speed the process along.
  13. Tina - what new ones did you find? and where? I take Celexa too - I asked for Wellbutrin but my PCP said to try Celexa. I guess I could send him an e-mail and ask for Wellbutrin again - all he can do is say no right? He switched me from fluoxetine to celexa without seeing me. I think a physical is a good idea for you - .
  14. Tina - have you started any new medications lately or changed your dosage? I would like to stop my anti-depressant and see if it makes a difference but I think I need it to stay sane. Same with my 1 mg of estradial a day- but I don't want hot flashes. Guess I will just keep on trying to stay on track with my eating and up the exercise. I am making at least one vegetarian food for Saturday as two of my kids are vegetarians now - no fish either. Cooking for two meat eaters and two vegetarians is not very easy - there aren't very many different choices with the Boca and Morningstar brands at the stores I shop at.
  15. Tina - I don't know how to help you but I feel your pain. Glad you and Michaela will be coming on Saturday. I went to the gym Sat and Sun and have sore muscles to prove it. So I get on the scale today and I am up 3 lbs from Friday - no way it is from food. I am hoping it will go back down this week. I'm not going to the gym today as my son has a dr appt right after school and we go out to eat with my parents every Monday. Happy Monday - although so far I don't see much happy about it - I want to take a nap already.
  16. My boys and I got back from the gym a little bit ago. I have some sore muscles today. I did the circuit of the machines and rode 6 miles on the elliptical bike - thought my legs were on fire on the hills. I washed everyone's sheets, mattress pads and comforters today so guess beds will have to get remade before we can go to bed - I help my two younger ones as they have IKEA beds that you have to lift the mattress up to get to the back side. Ugh tomorrow is Monday already - how come the week doesn't go as fast as the weekend?
  17. HERE IS MY ADDRESS for Saturday - 7474 Whitmore St, Elk Grove, CA, 95758. I am excited to have everyone over. Not sure what healthy food I am making yet. Maria - my 24 Hour membership is only for the one on Bruceville/Center Parkway. To have a multi gym membership is $3 more a month -the $31.99 I have to pay is really more than I can afford, but need to take care of me. When you say 9:15 do you mean a.m.? I am at work from 6:30 am to 2:30 pm. The 24 Hour that I am a member of has another exercise class that is to music too that is in the evenings. The boys and I went to the gym for the first time today - they have a 24 day free membership. Taran isn't old enough yet - you have to be 12. I tried the different weight machines and did the elliptical and the stairmaster and the other thing that is sort of like a stairstepper - not sure what it is called. We were there 2 hours and I was sweating. We're going back tomorrow - I'm trying to avoid sore muscles. Candra - I am going to make your fake rice dish - I steamed the cauliflower and I am going to add mushrooms, ground beef and some tomato sauce. That way I can get my protein and vegetables. I'll let you know who it turns out. Gotta go get the clothes out of the dryer.
  18. Ok I took the plunge and joined 24 Hr Fitness this morning on the month to month plan. I am excited to go now and burn some calories. That along with starting to walk at work with my friend this week better jump start something. The owner at Curves was not happy I was cancelling but I let her know her operating hours don't work for me. I am going to the one right by my house so if the weather is nice I can walk. getting ready to go help out in my daughter's classroom until 3:30.
  19. Good Morning ladies & John - off on a furlough day today and darn it I woke up at 5:15 am (my alarm was set for 6 am) - took the boys to school already and will be taking Taran to school in 1/2 hr. Going to run a couple of errands and check out 24 Hr Fitness to see if they have a cheap plan. I am ready to get busy at the gym. I am hoping that will make a difference - I have been eating properly but nothing is budging - I think maybe I am not eating enough though. If you are coming on the 16th you don't have to tell me what you are bringing - you can bring whatever you want - I will have bottled water and decaf iced tea. I'll post my address again next week. Happy Friday -
  20. Wow Nicolie and Tamra- you go girls. Both of you are rocking it. You'll both be banded before you know it. I was down another .5 today so that is 3.5 since Saturday. I had a protein shake for breakfast and I have 1/3 cup tuna and 2 of the Wasa crackers for lunch and then another protein shake for an afternoon snack. Can you make it on the 16th Donna?
  21. Tamra - bring your daughter - I am so used to kids - she might surprise you and act like an angel - remember I have three kids and they were far from perfect when they were 3 yrs old - Reggie - sure you can bring your kids - anyone who wants to can. You can bring whatever you want to - it might be an odd mishmash but that is more fun anyway - too much work to coordinate dishes. So far we have Candra, Reggie +2, Tamra +1, Nicolie, Heather, Nicole +1, me +3 - did I miss anyone? I can't wait.
  22. Bring on the healthy cheesecake Nicolie. You can bring your daughter Tamra - my daughter loves little ones. My house is very kid friendly. You can do it John - keep the faith. I have on the purpleish zip up sweater today I got from one of you on Saturday - nice and warm.
  23. How about meeting at my house on Saturday Jan 16 at 5 pm? Nicole gets off work at 4 pm so she will be able to make it. Want to make it a potluck? Just bring something healthy and band friendly and we'll eat whatever there is. I'll make something kid appropriate too. My kids will be here so if you want to bring your kids you can - we have plenty to play with. My address is 7474 Whitmore St, Elk Grove, 95758. The more the merrier. We just got back from dinner at Mike's Diner -our Monday ritual with my parents. I had a kid size beef hotdog - it looked so lonely on the plate without a bun. I had my protein drink at 2:30 on the way home and it really helped - no snacking between lunch and dinner for me today. Didn't make it to Curves so I will have to tomorrow. Check your calendars and we can get a headcount for the 16th.
  24. Sounds like lots of us are in good moods today. I was down another 2 this morning so only 2 more to get back to where I was before the holidays. I am seriously hungry right now. I had a protein shake for breakfast and two bottles of water so far. I can eat my 1/3 cup tuna salad in ten minutes. Then I have another protein shake to drink on the way home at 2:30 and then it will be tuna for dinner too. Never sit and wait that long in Richmond or Kaiser period- If I have been waiting any time past my appt time I get up and ask someone if they are running late. Poor Monique. Good thing they didn't take your blood pressure. :blushing: Did you get a fill?
  25. Good Luck tomorrow John - be assertive if you need to. My food for today: br 1 Premier protein drink - 160 cal, lunch 1 Snickers protein bar 210 cal, dinner 1/2 cup tuna w/ mayo, pickles, celery and 5 Club crackers, 5 Red Vines. I am done for the day. I was down a pound today - now only 4 more to go to get back to where I was before the holidays. I finally got all the laundry done and the downstairs bathroom scrubbed from top to bottom. Also helped my 15 yr old son go through his shirt closet and put in Wonder Hangers - that boy has close to 70 shirts. I was able to pull about 10 out to keep for a yard sale. He doesn't have a full sized closet as he sleeps in the bonus room that doesn't have a closet. Any of you seen "Julie & Julia"? I watched it on Netflix today and really liked it.
