  1. OMG I just read something over on another thread and now I'm freaking out...which is to be expected, LOL. I'm 14 days out from surgery and will probably freak out at least 100 more times until they give me the anesthesia on surgery day, haha. Can you really stretch your pouch? A girl posted that she's gone back to liquids/mushies for a few days because she says she has stretched her pouch. I didn't realize that could happen! I thought that if you tried to overeat it would be super painful and you'd PB whatever didn't fit in your pouch. So how do you stretch it???? :tt2::cool2::thumbup:
  2. YAY!! More people to meet!!! So far we've got Brandy, Dee, and DenverGirl coming. Can't wait to meet you all!!!
  3. I just went on my lunch break and bought 2 of those bullets from GNC, one fruit punch and one grape. I guess I'll try one of them tomorrow, first thing in the morning. Maybe I'll just drink half of it for breakfast, and see how much it controls my appetite. Thanks for all the input!!! I started my low-carb pre-op diet today...blah. I'm only required 7 days, and I had wanted to do a full 30 days, but that didn't happen. But I'm sticking to it today by golly!!!!
  4. Mine is low-carb, which I'm well versed in. I've been doing Atkins on and off for about 2yrs now. Starting today! Surgery in 14 days!!! :w00t::thumbup::w00t:
  5. Froggi!! Any word on surgery yet?? I've been thinking about you. I am starting a 14-day pre-op diet today. Surgery on Nov 5th. So you can put my pre-op diet weight down as 259.6 I know I know, I said I was starting my pre-op 30 days out. That didn't happen, lol. BUT I WILL NEVER SEE THAT NUMBER AGAIN! IT'S ALL DOWNHILL FROM HERE!!!
  6. Awesome, so you can come! It probably got moved since it's Election Day... Speaking of elections, I need to go vote sometime before getting on the plane on Nov 4th! :grouphug:
  7. I posted this in another thread but they've continued posting and ignored me....:grouphug:....so would any of you mind answering this for me? Being Dr. K patients, I probably should have asked you all this first, haha. Does anyone remember the Full Liquid Phase of post-op? Did you drink protein drinks during that phase, i.e. EAS or Atkins? What about those new IDS Whey Protein Bullets (the 3 ounce liquid shots that are 42g of protein) - anyone have those during the Full Liquid Phase of post-op? Thanks! Also, another post about the whey bullets... How are those protein bullets working out for you? One a day, or less frequently? What flavors are best? Do you drink it all at once, or space it out throughout the day? I'm considering doing this during my full liquids phase post-op (Days 4-14). I've heard they control your hunger pretty well.
  8. HEY MUNCHIE!! How you doin'??? Well, I wouldn't go so far as to say they have an eating disorder, but some of them definitely do not make the best food choices. But about 85% of the food choices are really great, and they've given me super great ideas for once I'm banded and eating regular food. :grouphug: I have no idea where Lake Norman is, but I'm guessing it's near a lake.... Matthews and Goldsboro are about equal distances from me, one to the east and one to the west. I think... Congrats on the comedian man. Hope he makes you super happy because you totally deserve it! :pray2:
  9. Yes, our RR night on 11/4 is at 7:00p. Apparently that's the same night as Dr. K's support group...or so I hear? Also, yea that thread bothers me sometimes. I saw one lady's menu for the whole day (a few weeks ago), which consisted of pork rinds, a few meatballs, and 2 kitkat bars. It was crazy! Those are the kinds of bad choices they're talking about when they say "eating around the band" I guess. When I called the girl out for eating pork rinds, she chimed in that it was an excellent source of protein. Who eats pork rinds as a source of protein? Aren't they just deep fried pig skins?

  12. Based on what I've read on this site (and I think I've read it all, haha) it seems the consensus that most people gain a few pounds at the mushies stage. On liquids you tend to lose fast, but as soon as you introduce solids back into the picture that weightloss stops while your body gets used to have real food again. Add to that the fact that most mushies are high in carbs, and it's almost impossible to not gain a few pounds during mushies. Once you have your first fill you should be on the road to success though - just stick it out! :Dancing_biggrin:
  13. My husband is a body-builder type, always looking for good supplements and stuff, and he orders from Vitamin Shoppe all the time. He absolutely HATES GNC, for what it's worth. He always orders from VS online and usually gets free shipping, and depending on how much he spends they send him free t-shirts. I bet we have at least 6 of them, LOL. I plan to get all my stuff from VS in the next week!
  14. Welcome to the group! I'm November 5th ~ only 15 more days!!! Struggling real hard to start my low carb pre-op diet early....not really succeeding, haha. Join us over in the November 2008 board! November 2008 Bandsters - Lap Band Surgery and Lap Band Discussion Forum
  15. Well, if that's the case then I would suggest dehydration as the culprit. If it gets that unbearable, call your doctor!!!!
  16. My first instinct is that you are withdrawing from caffeine. Were you a big soda/coffee drinker before the band? Whenever I try to quit sodas, I get a headache that lasts on and off for close to a week - then it finally goes away. I noticed that when I'm having a caffeine-withdrawal headache, Tylenol-type medicines don't work for me. I'm getting banded in two weeks and I've slowly weaned myself to about one soda per day. By Friday I hope to have completely cut them out, so I'll probably have a headache for a few days while my body adjusts to the lack of caffeine, but then I'm in the clear. :Dancing_biggrin:
  17. Oh, and I see you got your ticker working again. Good job! :Dancing_biggrin:
  18. It's so great to put faces with names! Hope you ladies had a blast. Dee! Sweetie-pie! You look amazing!!!! What a wonderful difference a year makes!!! I'm so proud of you, I hope I can be where you are in a year ~ Proud Member of the Centurion Club!
  19. I'll be there in spirit tonight! And two weeks from tomorrow, I'll be there in person! :tongue2:
  20. DenverGirl, definitely take a look at this thread over in the Nutritions forum. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f9/share-ideas-what-did-you-eat-today-36828/ Although there are some bandsters who don't eat good everyday, this thread is filled with people's daily menus. They update it each day, so you can get a really great idea of what regular bandsters are eating. Not to mention there are lots of great recipes in there too. Hope that helps!!!
  21. Deb, don't you dare think about leaving us! I am truly happy for you, 24 years is a long time to be with someone, and good for you for making it official! You should know we are a close and accepting family here, and nothing short of murder could make us shun each other. Well, maybe not even murder, if it was the right person :tongue_smilie: Good for you Deb, your honesty is inspiring! :tt1: (It may be too much to ask, but I'd love to see at least one picture!)
  22. I'm also curious. Wherefore art thou, Munchkin???
  23. OK ladies, I'm having a really bad night. My husband and I went around 9p to a local tavern that we frequent. We know them, they know us, they know what we drink, etc. It's a really friendly place, we can watch some football, play trivia, get some dinner and enjoy ourselves. Well, usually around 10p on the weekends, the not-so-familiar crowd comes in - the kind of crowd that's just looking for drink specials and a place to get drunk on a Friday night. Well, at 10:30p two guys walked in that I knew from about 5 yrs ago - back when I was a hottie. I was 21, they were 17. We all cashiered for the same local grocery store. Back then I was a size 12 and a super hottie, and they both had crushes on me. I remember chatting online with them back then, being the "older hot college girl" and it was so great to have them be flirty with me. I'm at least 60lbs heavier now. Probably closer to 70lbs heavier. Sure, I'm married now and I could care less what these kids think of me. But they walked in tonight, and I turned my head and silently begged that they didn't see me. I seriously hadn't seen them since I quit the grocery store. They went to the other side of the bar, soI got lucky that time. But I got up to go to the bathroom and there they were, by the pool tables. They saw me and came over, said "Hey" and made quick small talk, since we hadn't seen each other since I left the grocery store almost 5 yrs ago. Then suddenly out of nowhere, one of the kids says, "Man, what happened to you? You used to be hot!" And they both proceeded to laugh out loud, and I was so mortified that I forgot about the bathroom and went straight back to my husband and told him we had to leave. I'm embarrassed to tell him what happened to me because I'm so shocked that they'd say something like that!! I guess I can't expect much from them, they're barely 21 yrs old, but it still hurts like hell. :smile2::crying::thumbup:
