Anybody's spouse an "eating buddy"?
My husband is looking forward to my band, because it means I won't buy junk food anymore. Now I'll buy a bag of chips or ice cream, and even though he wants to stay away from it, he tends to eat it just because it's there. So when I'm banded I'll be eating less, and I'll obviously be buying more nutritious foods, so he's looking forward to my change in diet because it will also force him to change! Hopefully this will happen with your husband eventually. You'll stop stocking the house with junk and he won't have any junk to eat! Good luck!

Oh my goodness Patty, bless your heart! You are a strong woman and I can only hope one day to be as strong as you. Bless you for intervening in that very delicate situation. Stay strong and know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Someone said we are all obsessed with ice cream. I'd just like to point out that I am the one who is obsessed. All these other wonderful ladies avoid ice cream like the plague as they should but I'm still pre-band and having total Last Supper Syndrome. So I've been bringing them down, one by one, and I'm sorry!!! :cursing:

Biggest Loser! Does anyone else watch this show? I am seriously addicted to it. I cry during every episode. I must be honest - usually I sit on the couch and eat ice cream while I watch this show.

Tips for when youre banded...
10 weeks since surgery and you should be well onto solid foods. You should not have to drink Protein shakes all day just to get your calories. My suggestion is that your band is too tight if you cannot hold down more than 3 bites of solid food.

Hey, check out You Tube. I guarantee you they've got all the SNL skits you want. In fact, since the Palin ones have been so popular they're probably the first ones you'll find. But beware, going to You Tube to find one clip could turn into 3hrs of watching random clips on the internet. There is so much stuff on You Tube!!! Same story here chica. It's just not meant to be. :Banane53: Aww, I want pictures of your babies! I'm a total sucker for animals, dogs and cats alike. Send me pictures! And NO I would never fart on you! At least, not the first time you come to visit. I want to make sure you'll come back for a second visit before I go offending you with my gas. It's just a huge love train on this message board. So wonderful. Makes me feel all warm and gooey inside...oh wait, that's just...nevermind. I gotta go to the bathroom. Be nice. :Banane59: I can't help it ice cream gives me the poopsies!

:cool2::w00t::smile: Actually ladies, I am quite musical. However I'm not sure I could get my gas to actually beat out a rhythm (yes Dee, you spelled it right!). I'd be happy to join the band though! I can sing!

I haven't seen Shelbi in a minute. I need to email her! I've said enough about my gas issues over the last few days, so I think Dee and I are a match made in Band Heaven! :cool2:

I'm glad you're not getting angry with me talking about B&J so much the last few days! You can all live vicariously through me during my last week of Last Suppers! Tonight will be ONE Cheesecake Brownie, or DMB's Magic Brownies. I can't decide, but rest assured, whichever one I choose - I will finish it all. Glad you enjoyed the mushies. :cool2: I LOVE YOU GALS!!!

I really can't wait to meet all you ladies in person. I'm confident over the next year or two we'll have many opportunities to get together. You're all so supportive and so nice, so sweet and wonderful. I am eternally grateful to you all for accepting me as you have. And I'm so happy I found this website!!!! OK, enough of all that mushiness. I'm going to get some B&J. Hahah maybe I can run my husband off with my offending gas - two nights in a row!!! :cool2:

Aww go ahead, sit next to Shelbi. Save the seat for me though. When I'm an official Bandito I want to sit next to my NC girl Shelbi and my crazy girl Munchkin - if they'll have me. :cool2:

YAY!! So happy to hear you're doing well. Also, a very good sign that your surgery was at 9:00 and you were on your way home at 1:00. My mom will be with me and I hate to think of her having to wait around all day. Keep us posted on your progress. :cool2:

Yup, just the teeniest bit lactose intolerance. Cheese doesn't bother me, but anything more than a scoop of ice cream leaves me gassy and bloated-feeling. I can't drink chocolate milk either. Well, I can drink chocolate milk - my husband just doesn't like me when I do!

Oh the gas wasn't good at all. But I kept hoping my husband would get tired of it and just move to the spare bedroom. There's nothing better than getting our King bed to myself with our 3 cats snuggling close! They don't mind the smell of my ice cream induced gas.

I had some of that B&J Peach Cobbler ice cream last night...ate the whole thing! Had terrible gas afterwards. Hubby almost kicked me out of bed last night! Happy BANDiversary Dee!!!

Subway - rude servers
I am very sensitive about my decision to get a lap band, and as a result very few people in my life know. I would never bring it up in public to get a reduced price on a meal. That's just begging for attention that I do not want. Agreed - I don't want special treatment. I would be tickled that I can't eat a full meal and happily box it up and take it home for leftovers!! I anticipate this being the situation almost every time I go out to eat. I would be hard-pressed to find an entire meal that is "band friendly" at every restuarant I go to. Solution? Don't eat out. Then you don't have to be embarrassed. I do feel bad that you were treated so terribly by the Subway employees - that just wasn't right, and I would certainly bring it up with their manager. However, as I pointed out before, bringing up my lap band in a public place in order to receive a discounted price for food is just way too much attention, and I'd rather spend a few extra dollars and take home half my meal - that way I stay under the radar.

Does anyone know if Dr. K will be able to do my surgery if I have TOM? TOM showed up yesterday, which means I'll have him in another 4 weeks as well ~ which will be two days before my surgery.:biggrin:

oooh oooh i forgot to tell you all. i tried this Greek Yogurt that i've read about on this website, mainly over in the nutrition forums. it's high protein and low calorie. well...it's definitely low taste, if you know what i mean. even the honey flavor was kinda bland in comparison to other yogurts i've had. but its about 6oz in a cup, 110cals and 15g of protein - which is a good thing when you're banded, because you need as much protein as you can get. anyone have any opinions about Greek Yogurt? brand name is Oikos. i'm off to the grocery store. catch you chickies later!!!

Mmm yea, that's another of my favorites. It's hard to name just one. B&J is definitely my favorite brand of ice cream. So many unique flavors. I'd have to name a Top 5 though, I could never narrow it down to just one! Speaking of ice cream, I finished my B&J ONE Cheesecake Brownie on Friday night and now I'm all out! One week left of Last Supper Syndrome - I feel a B&J Binge coming on, LOL.

Thanks for the well wishes!!! I plan to take several pre-op pics from every single disturbing angle! Upper arms, bust, waist, hips, thighs...am I missing anything? I was thinking of taking my pre-op pics nude, but then I can't very well show them off once I've lost lots of weight!! So I'll more than likely do them in shorts and a tank top. My faves are Coke Zero and Diet Ginger Ale, but I'll take a little sip of each of your faves and savor it - just for you.

LOL I drink soda on a daily basis, mostly at work. That's where my soda problem lies. At night, if there's beer in the house I'll drink it. Luckily I'm not drinking my beer at work - that would be a no no, haha. I am confident I can kick the two, it might just take a few weeks. I'll be so happy to kick the habits. I'm not worried about doing low-carb for a month though. I've lost weight on Atkins plenty of times. I'm ready for the scale to start moving the other direction!!!! As for that pesky pumpkin cheesecake ice cream, I have been to two grocery stores with no luck. But I did notice yesterday that one of my local stores has B&J on sale for 3/$10.
