  1. hahah yea, about that...she just got back from a walgreen's run about 20mins ago. went to buy ear plugs for me...she's a snorer! :):wink2:
  2. If I'm feeling good I'll definitely make the trip! I'd love to meet Deb!
  3. I forgot them back in NC. If it gets worse overnight then I'll have mom buy some tomorrow morning. Thanks for the info!
  4. And it starts. I knew I'd jinx myself! What luck I have. The gas pains have started. I woke up with them about an hour ago. It's now time for pain meds so I'm about to take those, and I just did 3 laps around the hotel with my mom but that didn't help the gas. How long do gas pains last?? I'm a wimp. Also, will the pain meds help the gas pains, or will I still be in pain?
  5. i had my surgery almost 12hrs ago and just now i'm starting to feel the horrible gas pains in my shoulders and chest. i'm in a hotel and don't have access to a heating pad. i'm about to take the pain meds again - will they help with the gas pains? also, how long (days) will i have this terrible gas pain? i've been walking laps around the hotel every couple of hours, and i know that's supposed to help...but just now i did 3 laps and it didn't help the pains at all. need advice
  6. Thank you! I kinda figured it didn't need to be on there so long, but I'm determined to stay feeling good. I don't wanna do anything that'll send me spiraling down as far as pain goes. Right now I'm comfortable, and I'm such a baby when it comes to pain that I really need to stay this way, LOL.
  7. it figures, this is the one question i forgot ask. they gave me an ice pack for my incision sites today (i had surgery about 11hrs ago). i've had it on my belly for probably 8hrs of the last 11hrs. i just woke up from a little nap and my incision sites are really cold (obviously from the ice) but it seems as though they're a little more sore than the were the rest of the afternoon. for the record, i feel fantastic - better than i ever expected to feel. i'm wondering if i should have the ice on my belly as much as i have today? if not, how often should i put the ice on there, and for how long at a time? also, how long should i contine to use the ice pack? thanks in advance
  8. Thanks!! 9hrs since surgery and I'm feeling fantastic! Yes, every adjustment will have me flying back to CO, but only because I prefer to have him and his staff perform all my fills. I could go to Fill Centers USA locally, but as far as price goes, it's about comprable. Dr. K gives free fills for 3mos post-op, and then $15 fills after that. But a roundtrip flight is about $200-250. Fill Centers USA charges roughly $400 as a "start-up" fee just to get in the door, and then $250/fill. So I think in the long run it'll be better flying back to CO for fills.
  9. I had surgery about 9hrs ago, and boy am I feelin' good!!! :smile2: Not at all what I expected. I've been walking the halls of the hotel and doing my breathing treatments, and the pain is minimal. I've not even had to take nausea medicine yet! Before I left the hospital, they gave me a grape popsicle and that thing was heaven! :tongue2: I've also had about 6oz of apple juice off and on over the last 3hrs, as well as a few sugar-free lifesavers - my throat is so dry from the anesthesia tube, but that's really the only thing that's bothering me!
  10. My surgery was 9hrs ago! And I'm feelin' good..... :smile2:
  11. Hi everyone! I had my surgery almost 9hrs ago. I feel fantastic!! I've had very little pain, and I've been walking around the hotel a little each hour since I got back. And I was back to the hotel only 5hrs after surgery! So I just wanted to let everyone know, I'm thrilled that I got this done. No regrets whatsoever. I'm feeling better with every hour that passes. :smile2:
  12. THANKS everyone for the thoughts and prayers. Still feeling fabulous. I'm so proud of myself - I haven't cried once! After a week of crying at the drop of a hat, for some reason I have managed to hold it together all day. Honestly, the only thing right now that bothers me is my nasal passages being extremely dry from the anesthesia tube. Yes Deb, that popsicle was pure heaven. :wink5: Wanna know what was almost just as good??? The sugar-free Cherry lifesaver that I sucked on when I got back to the hotel. :tongue2: So, this morning before we left the hotel, my mom went downstairs to get some coffee and a little breakfast. She met a woman who is also staying at the hotel, and naturally they started chatting. When asked what brought us to CO, my mom told her that I was having surgery today. The lady said she was here with her mom, and that her mom was also having surgery! When asked if she would be at Parker hospital, she said yes...and as it turns out, this lady's mother was Dr. K's 12pm patient - I was at 10am. What a small world?! Now my mom has someone to hang out with, maybe go shopping or out to dinner with tomorrow. It's so wonderful. The lady's mom, who is at least 60yrs, was doing well when I left the hospital. Unfortunately, not only did Dr. K find a really big hiatal hernia during surgery, but he found a tumor on her stomach that he also had to remove. :ihih: They were sending it off to the labs for testing. I'm so worried about her! Her daughter said Dr. K was optimistic about the tumor, so that's a very good thing. She also said her mom wasn't nearly prepared enough, and asked if she could pick my brain later about everything lap band related. Thank you LapBandTalk for schooling me so well about this surgery!! :smile2:
  13. I'm going for a record!! Fastest Reply Ever Post-Surgery! :tongue2: I'm doing fantastic!!! Pain is minimal, but I'm still going to stay on top of my pain meds because I am a WIMP! If it gets bad for even a second I'll be crying like a baby. When they woke me from the sleepy-stuff I was in the middle of a very vivid dream, so when I realized where I actually was it scared me, so the first ten minutes were spent crying and nearly hyperventilating - just generally freaking out. But once that was over, it's been downhill ever since. Surgery started probably around 10:15a or so and we just got back to the hotel. I haven't made my way to the bed yet - currently sitting up in the desk chair, hence the reason I'm posting. I will say this - that grape popsicle I got an hour ago was quite possibly the best thing I've ever had in my life. :wink5: However, the three small bites of applesauce nearly made me vomit all over myself - so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to try applesauce again. I have so much to tell you all about surgery and just today in general, so I promise to spill it all a little later. I think I want to get a little more sleep now. Overall, on a scale of 1 to 10 - I'm a 15. :smile2:
  14. YAY!!! Dee and Nora, I actually got some sleep last night. But I missed my 6am last call for Water, so now I'm super parched. T-minus 2 hours and 45 minutes til BANDLAND!!!!
