The dixie cups are an awesome idea! I also thought after you start an soft to try chop sticks to eat smaller bites. I started this week using them to train myself to eat slower and less. So far so good.:tongue2:

Ok I just got a book "Weight loss surgery for dummies" and it makes me nervous how you change so many things about your life. I just keep thinking if I could change all those things I wouldn't need the surgery but, I know this is a tool to help me with the change. I think Im just getting nervous because it is getting closer to my surgery date. Besides there are a lot of good changes also. The biggest one is being healthy for a change. My kids are young and I have 2 grandkids and I want to be able to play with them! I CAN DO THIS!!!:rolleyes2:

I went to Barnes & Nobel and they only had the one book. It has all types of weight loss surgery in it, but mainly gastric and lap band. I wish they had a better selection.

My pre-op class is Oct. 6th and my surgery is Oct. 21. Good Luck!

Has anyone started there liquid diets? How is it going? I can't wait until next week to meet some of you. I just got the book Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies. Lots of info. and recipes and menus for clear liquid, liquid and soft food diets. It has educated me a little more and made me a little scared about the changes after the surgery. Like I said I can't wait until the support group. Will there be people there that already have gone through all of this?

I just got the book "weight loss surgery for dummies" , lots of info.. It has says to take pic. and measurements before surg. and then start to journel and write down the things you think you will be able to do when you start losing the weight and that will be a great goal starter. I thought it was a great idea. It also has sample menu's for liquid diet then soft foods. It has been answering a lot of my questions. It also gives a lot of other web sites to check out. Good luck to all those who are on their liquids.!

Im feeling the same way... I got my date of Oct. 21 Im so nervous I think Im gaining the weight I lost back. But Im excited also. Oct. 21 seems like forever away!

I am going to be banded on Oct. 21st. Scared...excited...and all that good stuff. It's to long away, I hate waiting.....:wink_smile:

Ok here goes. Im a 41 wife and mother of four, 22, 21, 8, & 6. A grandmother of two, 2 and 6m. I have survived a hystorectomy, and cancer of my kidney. I am ready to take control of my life and lapband is going to be my tool to start! I started my journey in Dec. of 07. For ins. I had to lose 20lbs to qualify for the surgery. It was a long hard road. I thought to myself if I could lose the 20lbs on my own I wouldn't be trying to get a lapband. Well I did very well losing the wait until March, I had lost about 10lbs and had to have foot surgery. Guess what? I gained my weight back. I got back on the wagon the next month, did all my visits for heart, pulmanary, (find out I have sleep apnea) and psyc.. by Aug. I lost 15lbs again and they sent it off to my ins. co.. The next week my ins. approved surgery:thumbup:. Well I called the office to set my surgery date and find out they never recieved ok from pulmanry Dr. :smile:. I had to call them and they said I needed another appt.. Luckily they got me in the next day. It is Mon. morning and Im waiting for 9:00 to call the office and see if they recieved the ok. Just when I think everything is back on trac my dh dicides to let me know he doesn't want me to do the surgery. :tongue2: Now's a fine time to tell me. He is afraid something might go wrong or I won't make dinner after I have the surgery (he loves his food, who dosen't). Ive assured him the only thing that would chande was my size. He did let me know it was my choice, but I still can tell he is upset about the whole issue. I want this to work out so bad. Im tired of being fat and hungry all the time.

Small town Marseilles here, about 1 hour from Joliet. Surg date 10/21. Do preop on 10/6. Seems like forever away from now! I cant wait!:biggrin:

I was suppose to have surgery on Oct. 7 but my DH will be out of town for the first two weeks of Oct. I have to ask has anyone had a problem with eating more since they started? I seem to be hungry or just wanting to be putting something in my mouth the closer and closer I get to getting my lap band. I don't know if its nerves or psychological mind craziness. I seem to be eating until Im uncomfortable. Maybe I know after the lap band I won't be able to eat this stuff but the weight is coming back on.

Yes Im going to the meeting. Im looking foward to meeting all of you. :thumbup: My birthday is 10/5, I have two daughters who's birthdays are 10/27 & 10/13, and my Mom's is 10/2.

Im so excited :cry_smile: I finally got my surg. date 10-21-08. I start my pre-op diet on the 6th the day after my birthday. My new birthday will be Oct. 21. The only bad news is they told me I have to pay $300 by the 15th for classes and a year to there gym.:thumbup: My DH is not happy seeing how he doesnt want me to do this anyway and now I have to pay more money. I told him to think of how much money I spent on diets that didn't work and to think of it as cheaper on more diets I would have tried and failed. This all just makes me want to try that much harder to succeed.
