Thanks so much @toodlerue! I hope you're doing well. 😀
  2. Welcome to the forum! This is a great place for information and encouragement. You're right that it feels like a second chance at life - best of luck to you!
  3. Just got my surgery date today - March 29th! It just got very real! I'm excited and slightly terrified. Lol. Overall, I feel ready after months of research and reading posts on this forum. I'm so grateful for the honesty, support and encouragement everyone here shares. I have mixed emotions and almost can't believe that my life could actually change for good. I had honestly stopped feeling like I could ever hope to reach my goals after decades of failed attempts. Best of luck to all of you!

    Taking medication

My bariatric center advises never to crush medications. It's best to check with your surgeon to find out what they advise in your situation. Best of luck!
  5. Such a succinct explanation for this entire experience! This is oddly reassuring to me because I'm a rule follower who needs to trust in the process...I needed to hear that if I follow the plan, I won't fail. I have a consultation in one more week, so I'm trying to make sure my head is wrapped around the choice I'm making. Ha! Your explanation helps tremendously!
  6. I thought I was the only one who cringes at the word "moist." 🤣
  7. I definitely needed to hear this! This is such a major decision...but I'm realizing I have been feeling completely defeated after all these years and so many attempts. With your story and others on this forum, I'm slowly beginning to feel hope. Congratulations to you and here's to a brand new you in 2023! 👏

Is this it? Is my body done?

Congratulations! 🎊 This is inspiring to me and others out there who are just at the beginning of this journey. It's hard not to be skeptical that I will succeed after decades of yo-yo dieting, but now I see it really is possible. Kudos!

WHAT does religion have to do with me having surgery??????

I realize this post is older, but just wanted to say thank you for taking time to write it. As a Christian, I have also struggled with the notion that my body is a temple but that somehow I'm forsaking what He intended for me to be. I always try to hand over my battles to God. Now I feel tremendous relief knowing that He understands our struggles, so much so that He endorsed what many would call "drastic measures" to avoid sin and despair. Wow...this WLS journey is deeper than anyone can fathom!

    Hitting goal

Congratulations!! I have to agree with @summerseekerand @kcuster83that posts like yours motivate and inspire all of us. I'm just at the very beginning of this process, about 80% leaning toward having WLS. This forum has been immensely helpful to me as I do my research. I have such fear of regret...but your story melts that away. Way to go! 👏

    WLS 7/26/22

Congratulations on your success!! Happy to hear that you have such great support, too. I'm at the start of this process and wondering if you could share some details about your experience with SurgeryPlus. My insurance offers this now, but it won't kick in until Jan. 1st. Were you satisfied with the experience? I'm disappointed that I can't go to the weight management center at the local hospital where I'm already familiar with the physicians...they aren't in the SurgeryPlus network (although they are a Center of Excellence). Any thoughts would be appreciated. Best of luck on your journey!!

    SurgeryPlus Benefit

Hi Everyone! I'm new to this forum and just beginning the process for WLS. My husband and I are both researching this for the coming year. Has anyone gone through SurgeryPlus concierge and wouldn't mind sharing your opinion? I have coverage through Anthem, but my company requires the use of SurgeryPlus specifically for bariatric surgery. The deductibles and procedure costs are waived, which is great. But...I haven't found many reviews for SurgeryPlus and I'm feeling anxious. I have to choose a surgeon from their network as well. Thank you in advance!

    SurgeryPlus Benefit

@tina.deann Yes, that's what I have been told also. I did manage to get a few questions answered in the meantime. I called and used their online chat and was able to gather some details. I asked about needing a referral from my primary care physician. Because my PCP is not in the SurgeryPlus network, I will have to select one of their providers. I'm anxious to get this process started, but I'm hopeful now that I know a little more about how it works. Best of luck to you!
  16. Hi there @Neecole11! I'm new to this forum and wondering whether you could share what your experience was with SurgeryPlus. My employer benefits state that bariatric surgery must go through SurgeryPlus. I can't seem to find very many reviews online, and they don't post their provider network online. How long did approval take start to finish? Many thanks in advance, and I hope you're doing well!
