  1. I was banded in Jan 09 and was always a slow loser and I am ok with that. I lost about 50 lbs and sustained that weight for a long time. I was happy to be under 200! Then we moved to another state for my husbands job and since then (may 2010) I have gained 15 lbs and back over 200 again! I am in need of a fill but the closest doctor is 70 miles away and will only see me on Mondays. I only get Friday/Saturdays off from work so I never went to see the new doctor.

I am upset with myself for gaining weight and I have no motivation anymore. I go to the gym 4-5 times a week and eat salads for lunch everyday like a good girl but the weight is slowing creeping up still! I have my 10 year reunion coming up next summer and I need some support. Any ideas to get me back on the wagon?!

  2. I can relate! I feel that being bigger I am like the freaking plague! No one talks to you, you get looks but not kind ones and you can tell people are snickering. I also have told no one and I know that when the weight comes off and people start with their shallow comments I will be just as upset as you are now. There is so much more to WLS then just weight loss! There is major mind games to deal with! Just know it is normal and you can work through it.

As for that girl you stopped talking to....You should talk to her. She must like you for you, right? Maybe explain to her your fear and tell her you used to be bigger. You dont have to mention WLS to her. I think she may understand why you do the things you do and it could strengthen the relationship. Good Luck

  3. I had my first fill today and it was ok but not a breezie. Its stung a little when they put the numbing stuff in. Then it was numb so when she pushed on my port it felt funny. I actually giggled when she pushed on it! They tried to do it but needed a longer needle! I was spooked! So they poked me and I heard it. Like a small thud. I drank a cup of Water and on liquids for 2 days now. It wasnt that bad but wish it was more pleasurable lol!

  4. I did jump the gun a little but not by much. Even though I did it I have to say, Stick with your pre op diet. It is not worth it to damage your body for food. Every surgeon is different and there is a reason why your on the diet, no matter how hellish it can be (and I know it is!). If your worried call your nutritionist or surgeon and confess, your not going to be the first call they have had about it. GOOD LUCK!

  5. You can pre-make wraps. That's what I have been doing on days that I have class. And you can be really creative and put whatever you want on it!

    My favorite is a mexi-wrap:

    whole wheat tortilla

    LF CReam cheese (replaces mayo!!)

    Salsa

    chicken

    lettuce

    and sprinld some mexican cheese

That just sounds good to eat anytime. I dont think I can take that on the road though sadly. I am so picky that I wont let food like that sit in my car for hours. I know how does my husband deal with such a picky person?

    All the ideas are great!

  6. I have a road trip coming up in a few months. This will be a big 4 day drive there and 4 days back. I will pack my own healthy foods and we will try to stop at good restaurants so I can order healthy. I just know at one time or another we will have to stop and get fast food or gas station Snacks. My question to you is what are some healthier and reasonably bandster friendly food I can order?

I know some people can and cannot handle breads and so on but I just want to know what you all think are healthier choices.

  7. Eating is going ok, but I am eating the same things over and over again. I am a picky eater! I eat oatmeal for Breakfast, refried Beans for lunch, and chili for dinner.

Today I went to the bowling alley and the people next to me were eating a big juicy burger....you would of thought I was going to reach over and steal it!

Another thing i have noticed is how much my friends talk about food! Are you noticing that too? I honestly thought they may keep their mouth quiet for a few weeks while I get through this lol!

  8. Lena I will have to read your blog! I am starting soft solids in a week. I am nervous of things getting stuck or finding out the things I love (good for me foods, dont worry) wont agree with me. The only solid I slipped up on was chex. I have nibbled on a few dry chex and LOVED IT! I chewed the hell out of them to mush but still a slip up. I personally think I am ok and I have done so well with my diet that chex wont kill me.

But I am still plugging along on this diet! Super Bowl Sunday is one day before I can technically start my solids diet. I am going to call my nutritionist and ask her if I can start on Sunday.
