Oh how exciting! How far do you have to travel? I don't blame you I would take the bare minimum of what I needed to get through for sure. I wish you the very best, it will be so nice to have it done!

A bit anxious at the moment.

Making my sugar-free Jello so I have something to snack on. If I keep busy, I do better.

You have worked hard to get this far; you know how to succeed. You got this!

I have so much sugar free Jello its crazy! I had a rough day yesterday it was day three and i was starving.Thank goodness today i am back to feeling really full with the Protein Shakes. You are doing amazing!! It helps to have support and I will be right there with you. Thank you for responding.

I haven't started to get anxious yet but I still have 11 days until my surgery so it will probably hit me next week.

I think staying busy is best too. I am jumping on here and reading a lot of posts to keep me focused on the goal.

Yoga is definitely good for flexibility and depending on the type of yoga, maybe for cardio, but it's no substitute for strength training.

I agree i can't wait to go back to yoga on a regular basis. I have to stop of course for surgery and for a while after but yoga is amazing

Today is a day for everyone to Celebrate themselves! Post one accomplishment, achievement, baby step, thing that made you happy! Toot your own horn and Celebrate something no matter how big or small today! It can be weight loss, personal achievement, work achievement, walking in a store, going outside your comfort zone or whatever you want ….

    Here’s mine:

I am finally down 10 lbs from surgery after my adventures and dropping fas (Saturday I was half a pound above surgery weight due to ivs etc), and one pound from loosing 100 this calendar year!

I celebrate my body is healing, infection clearing snd all the Fluid is leaving so I can smile at the fat loss finally showing up on the scale.

    your turn!

I am amazed that i made it to day three of the pre op. I gave away most of the food in the house but today i saw some salami, cheese and ham i missed. I thriew it away really fast adn poured some Water on it. This may seem small and silly but it made my day.

I don't why today i have felt really hungry, i still have two Protein Shakes to go though and can broth. I have drank a ton of water. I am hoping this is the worst of the hunger days because day one and two i wasn't hungry at all.

  5. Misery loves company. It sound like she is miserable with herself and she wants someone to be miserable with her while she controls them. I am so sorry you are going through this, i would tell my husband to tell her she has to move. I am sorry to sound harsh but she can go to a shelter until she can get housing. Don't give up and don't give in to her that is what she wants!

MerriBeth, how are you doing? I statt my two week liquid diet tomorrow. My surgery is scheduled for the 30th.

So far I am doing well. The Protein Shakes are so filling. I am supposed to have 4 a day but geez its tough. I haven't been hungry because they fill me up. I am making sure I get my Water in and some broth. Last night I did wake up hungry so i had a couple bites of Jello. How are you feeling?

I was told to stop my metformin the day of surgery and was told not to restart it. My blood sugar has been 100% normal since surgery. We'll see where my A1C is when I do my 4 month follow-up, but I fully expect it to be in the normal range as well.

Now I should state that I had bypass, not a sleeve. Bypass is often credited with similar results to mine in terms of reducing or eliminating diabetes symptoms VERY quickly, but I really don't know if sleeve is the same?

Wow that is great news! I will be meeting with dietition at my surgeons office on the 22nd so I am going to ask them while I am there. I so hope my diabetes is under better control after this!

I start my pre-op diet in the morning. I am so ready to get this process underway. I am tired of this extra weight. I know I can do this. Feels strange to be telling others that I can't eat what they are eating. I carry Water everywhere I go. Thanks giving, I am making the dressing/stuffing and two of the Desserts. Never cooked without tasting what I was making. It will be an interesting experience. I feel like my thoughts are all over the place. (Nervous much?)

I started my pre op yesterday so far so good. The Protein Shakes are so filling. I am not going to be cooking or attending thanksgiving until after the dinner is finished, I know me and i will be so tempted to just have a bite and I am not risking it. As I get more adjusted to the liquids I will be better suited to be around all the goodies but for now.... :)

  9. I am on day 2 of my two week liquid pre op. I keep telling myself if I made through day one I can make through day two and on and on.... I am taking it one day at time. I am treating it like being in recovery from any other addiction, one day at a time. I am also praying my way through this whole process. Surgery is Nov 28th.

I want to clarify something here for those that are following along at home. A random blood sugar test can be used to indicate diabetes, but just because your blood sugar is less than 200 mg/dL, does not mean that you don't have diabetes.

An analogy would be this: if you weigh over 600 pounds, you are definitely obese. Just because you weigh less than 600 pounds does not mean you are not obese.

I'm diabetic, but my blood sugar was never over 200 mg/dL any time I checked.

As I mentioned, it's much more common to use A1C and fasting blood glucose tests to diagnose diabetes. Fasting is good because blood sugar fluctuates throughout the day. It should be at its lowest point after an 8 to 10 hour fast, so for most people, this is first thing in the morning. The other common test most diabetics are asked to do is "postprandial". This means after a meal. Now timing after that meal is subject to some debate, but typically 2 hours after eating is used as the "standard" for diabetics. For everyone, even non-diabetics, your blood sugar will start going up roughly 10 minutes after starting to eat. While this is heavily dependent on what and how much you ate, in a non-diabetic, your postprandial blood sugar should peak within about an hour of eating and should be back to normal in 2 to 3 hours.

For diabetics, this normally does not happen as fast, so the peak blood sugar concentration is typically closer to 2 hours after eating. In short, most type 2 diabetics are asked to take a postprandial reading 2 hours after eating.

Both fasting and postprandial readings are used to determine how well the disease is managed. For example, a high fasting blood glucose test might indicate that your diabetes medication needs to be adjusted. Another example might be if the post prandial reading is actually lower than the fasting number. If this is a consistent trend, it might indicate reactive hypoglycemia.

I am wondering if i will have to continue on the Ozempic once weekly shot or if the oral diabetic meds will be suffiecient or if I might be able to get off all the meds and manage with diet. Diabetes is such a complicated disease. My brother died from complications of diabetes by not taking care of himself, I do not want the same fate!

Hummmm. I gotta do more research. I swear I just read that it causes weight LOSS which didn’t make sense at all since so many people have WLS because of diabetes and he was ordering the test for ME.

I am a type II diabetic, one of the reasons for the surgery. Post surgery many people have vast improvement in blood sugar levels. I also have heard that people gain before they lose which is confusing to me. I am just following Dr recommendations and praying for positive outcome.

Checking in after surgery. Post op plus 2 days. I'm grateful for the overnight in the hospital for the IV fluids and nausea meds (zofran). No real surgery pain, mostly discomfort, gas, and my tummy being so empty. Tolerate warm and room temp liquids better than cold (cold sends a sharp cramping when it hits tummy)

I've never been so aware of where "food" is in my digestive system! 😆

Sweet things taste soooo sweet its almost gross...maybe that will help save me in the long run...

Taking it slow and careful, but each day gets easier to hit goals.

Glad to hear you are doing well.

I am scheduled for 11/23. Day before Thanksgiving. I am so ready!

You will not be alone on thanksgiving for sure. I start my two week liquid diet on 11-14 and will be on it on thanksgiving. I am scheduled 11-28, I think I might be the last one in November that is in this group. I haven't seen anyone posting the 28th or after. I wish you the best, please keep us posted!

  15. I don't this condition but I have something called a torturous colon. I am confused about it though because they say it is congential. They found it on a recent colonoscopy, well I have had those before and was never told I had this torturous colon thing. I did talk to my bariatric surgeon and he did not seem concerned but I can relate to having some weird anatomy thing. I pray you find someone close to your home that can help.

Welcome - I'm pretty new also. I'm right in the middle of my 2 week liquid diet and it's been ok - I thought it was going to be the absolute worst, but it hasn't been... I think I was finally fed up enough to do whatever it takes. The tools that saved me are an immersion blender, a little bullet blender, and a stir tool (it's a milk frother for coffee, but I don't froth things :) ) My food staples have been Fairlife 0% fat milk, Protein powers (mostly chocolate and vanilla), PB2 powdered Peanut Butter, blended Soup so no chunks (Bean with bacon, cream of chicken, and I made some butternut squash soup), Bare Bones Bone Broth, sugar free popsicles, Premier clear Protein. Most you can order on Amazon. You can do it!

I start my 2 week liquid diet on 11-14. I am so glad to hear that it hasn't been as bad as imagined. I really think that I am also at the point of doing whatever I need to do, I am fed as well. I am so grateful to have found this site for support. It seems like the days are dragging to get my surgery date of 11-28.
