I went into this doing a ton of research. I knew to expect the week 2 or 3 stall. But man does it suck when your experiencing it. I haven't got the scale to move in about six days and it just feels so discouraging. I'm only 16 days out from surgery and I know there's so many new things my body is trying to adjust to. I just feel so bummed right now. All the hormonal changes aren't helping with that either. Ugh I cant wait to get past this little plateau.

I stalled at 6 months for about 9 weeks it was awful but i stuck to the program and the weight started to come off again. Just saw my surgeon and I am no longer in the obese category, overweight and I quote my Dr. "not by much" I need to lose about 25 more LBS. I know it will be much slower now but i am sticking with it. You will start to lose again don't give up!

  2. Thanks for the replies everyone. It seems like there is so much confusing information out there, I am going to stick with the plan and not allow this to throw me back into bad habits. I am calling to make an appointment with dietition at the surgery center I went to, they have a year follow up program and i need to utilize it more than just going to support group monthly. Starting back to yoga, going to my first class tonight. I am just praying this breaks soon!!!

HELP! I need new ieads for good shakes. Every time I drink one, I feel like I'm going to vomit. It doesn't taste bad, I'm just over the flavor, texture, and after taste. I'm currently using Fairlife chocolate, Premier Protein clear, and Isopure fruit punch. I just can't anymore.

I was the same way. A friend of mine who is nurse helped me but my issue was the sweetness, she added some FF greek yogurt, unflavored, the Protein Shake a a little coconut milk. It made a huge difference in my being able to tolerate the shakes without getting nauseous.

  4. I had my surgery on Nov 29, 2022. Things have been going really well then boom the dreaded stall has hit. I haven't lost anything in about 6 weeks. I have been monitoring what I am eating, making sure i get in the Vitamins and Protein. I do need to increase my exercise, I am so worn out after working all day. I am seeking any suggestions on how to break thru this stall. It is driving me crazy.....

very true - although the structure of the sleeve itself can also cause GERD in some people. I've read about this and can't remember exactly what the deal is, but it has something to do with the size and shape of the new stomach causing high pressure in the stomach, which can cause the acid to back up into the esophagus. It's not the majority of people - I seem to remember reading that about 30% will have reflux issues. But that means 70% won't. Some people are willing to take that risk. I wasn't because I already had GERD even before I had surgery.

My surgeon in Las Vegas repaired a small HH during my sleeve surgery. I didn't know I had the HH but am glad he saw it and took the initative to repair. I had my surgery through the Surgical Weight Control Center, the surgeon was Dr. Marc Leduc and he is absolutely wonderful, very knowledgeable and professional, great bedside manner. I had my three month check up yesterday and am down 54 LBS. I have gratefully not had any complications and did not even have to take one pain med after the surgery. Highly recommend SWCC and Dr. Leduc.

  6. I had the gastric sleeve on Nov. 29th. I am doing well except the Constipation is horrible! I take colace twice a day and today is day 4 with no bowel movement (sorry for the TMI). I am wondering what others use to help with this? I am feeling so bloated. I have milk of magnesia, and some generic laxative pills i got from CVS pharmacy, also have Miralax in the house. I am not sure what I can take. I called the Dr office but with it being Friday late in the day the MA said she would call me after she gets an answer, which may not be until Monday. I don't think I can go that long without this making me sick. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I drink at least 80 oz of Water a day so its not that. Thank you all in advance.

  7. My insurance approved me pretty fast too once they got the information. I took the first surgery date I could get and had the procedure in Nov 2022. For me, the hardest part was the pre op liquid diet those Protein Shakes were just too sweet. After my surgery a friend of mine put together a Protein concoction that i could live with, she put a Protein Shake, fage greek yougurt 0% unflavored, Protein Powder and coconut in the blender. Once i drink all of that in a day i know i got about 87 gm of protein. It is not too sweet and it works much better than the straight protein shakes.

  8. I had my surgery this past November at the age of 60. I am down about 32 LBS, i don't expect to lose fast due to genetics and my history but i am determined to continue to follow my plan no matter what. With what i lost so far i already can tell a big difference in how my knees and legs feel, i can walk longer distance without pain which to me is a huge win. I just put on a pair of jeans that have been hanging in my closet for a year because i couldn't even get them over my hips!! For me, the sleeve was definitely the right decision. I still new on this journey but so far so good.

I have my surgery with the surgical weight control center in Las Vegas highly recommend

Prior to my surgery I watched a lot of 'VSG Fail' videos & I noticed many of them either hide the addiction, or assume the habits formed during the pre-op diet is enough to over-come the addiction. I'll be honest, my psych assessment consisted of this:

Doctor: "do you have any psychiatric history?"

    Me: "Not since high school"

    Doctor: "& nothing since then?"

    Me: "nope"

& that was it. It made me realize how easy it would have been to just lie my way into getting surgery if I had an addiction. (Luckily, I was being truthful)

Just like most mental health discussions, I feel people would just rather keep things a secret or pretend it doesn't exist. It's such a hard thing to battle. Unfortunately I REGULARLY see people say they think the surgery will be the solution since there's now a physical barrier stopping them from binging. That link you posted is clearly proves it's not enough to fix a person. I wish more people knew this

I am amazed that the psych assessment was that short. Mine was 300 questions plus an intense interview with psychologist. Then getting the results took a long time so long that i thought i failed.
