  1. I would be finding another doctor. If he didnt even review your record what else did he not see? Honestly, there are many things that you could do to get your BP down including just cutting down on salt a little and it could be that your BP was just high that particular day. Mine is always higher at the dr office. Did he have any ideas on other kinds of birth control for you if you stopped the pills? If you are a size 6-8 you do not need to lose more weight!
  2. Thank you for posting this. I am still waiting for my surgery but we have a trip planned for next Christmas and I was wondering about all the protien shakes on the planes and such. This was very helpful.
  3. Congratultions!!!! I love reading this! I am still waitng for my sugery, so this is really inspirational for me!
  4. I chose 120lbs. I was 120 in my late 20s I am 68 now. I am 5ft 2in so I figured that was a good weight for me, however my Nurse Practioner says that it really should be about 160lbs. But we will see. I was at 170 a few years ago and although I looked better I was still not happy with the way I looked so I am still hoping for 120 to 130.
  5. Congratulations!!! What a great accomplishment!!! You look wonderful!! I am still waiting to have my surgery done and stories like this keep me going on my diet while I am waiting.
  6. Woohooo!!!! Congratulations!!! That is just so inspiring!!
  7. Wow!!! That is amazing!! Congratulations!!
  8. I have not experienced this but this is my sons exact story, only he was never overweight until now because of the pain. Find a different doctor and therapist. Chronic pain is real and many drs just dont feel like it needs addressing. There are many things you can. Your first step is finding a pain managment clinic to help with your pain. Next stay away from the alcohol. There are lots of calories in most alcohol. Next track your calories again. Do what exercises you can, even if its chair exercises just to be able to move. Its very difficult with back pain. You can do this, but you need the help of drs willing to help you. If a dr has a cavalier attitude about your pain , that is not the right dr for you.
  9. I woke up yesterday in the middle of the night with my heart racing and feeling dizzy and light headed. I had a cardiologist appointment at 8am for cardiology cleareance. Needless to say I didnt get that clearance and was sent straight to the hospital in A fib. My heart eventually straightened itself out on its own and I was send home with metoprolol and plans to get on a blood thinner. My question is can I still have the gastric bypass surgery with A fib? I am terrifed they are going to say that I cant have the surgery now because of the blood thinner. They wanted me to go on Eliquis but with my insurance it costs $370. I cant pay that every month, so Im waiting for the dr to call in something else. Please tell me this is not the end of the journey for me.
  10. Congratulations!!! I havent seen onederland in many years either. I cant wait until I get there. I have 12 more pounds to go.
  11. Wow!! That was a great video! Thanks for sharing it.
  12. Im sorry people just say weird stuff. It seems like everyone has an opinion about our bodies and for some reason think its ok to say it out loud to us!! I used to work in a nursing home with our long term care residents and I have had them tell me "You sure are fat" to which I respond "yes I am" and just let it roll off me. I dont take those things personally. Old people and kids are very honest. But that doesnt excuse everyone elses rudeness. Just dont take it personally. I am losing weight for me not for my husband ,not for my friends ,just myself, so I dont care what anyone else thinks.
  13. The next time she buys your favorite junk food and tells you that it needs to be eaten now. I would pick it up and throw it in the garbage disposal or garbage can and make sure she sees you do it. Forcefully tell her you cant eat that and everytime she brings junk food into the house it will be thrown away. Im sorry you are having to deal with her.
  14. I love this post! I have been staying under my calories for many months now. I am still waiting for my surgery date. I have lost 25lbs since I started on this journey. I have my 2nd appointment with my team tomorrow. I hope it goes well.
  15. With all sugeries the only part that will be exposed is the area they are actually doing the incision on. Everything else is covered in sterile drapes. I would ask your surgical team about your period. You cant be the only woman who has had your period when you have surgery. I'm sure it will be no big deal. Good Luck with your surgery. I cant wait until I have mine scheduled.
  16. Im pre op so I dont have experience but my instructions say to not eat beef or pork for the first 6 months. Maybe its just too soon.
  17. Oh thats not fun! I hope you continue to improve with the antibiotics.
  18. Congratulations on your wonderful progeress. I cant imagine feeling that way about exercise. I really hope I feel that way after I have my surgery. You are such and inspiration to those of us who are just waiting for our surgeries.
  19. Congratulations on your fantastic loss!! I only weigh once a week.
  20. You may be allergic to the tape or the adhesive on the tape. Have you tried hydrocortisone cream or benadryl cream?
  21. Unless I am mistaken, you are not sedated with an upper GI. They are just xrays.
  22. I am so glad you are doing well.
  23. I cant see anything wrong with that. I have been like that my whole life. I love cooking and feeding people. Baking is my favorite. Im hoping that after my surgery I wont eat as much of what I loved to cook. I have hundreds of recipes and I still love making new recipes. As long as you are not eating large amounts your friends and family will be very lucky to be able to eat your cooking. Have fun!!
  24. Congratulations!!! Keep up the great work!!!
  25. You are both right about research and changing habits. I have been working on both. I figure the more weight I lose before surgery the easier the surgery will be. So I think I have made peace with waiting. Its just I had it in my head that I could have it done in Feb. I just need to adjust my expectations and come back to reality. Im still losing weight and I will still have the surgery when it is supposed to happen.
