    Banded and very very sore...

Congratulations! I was banded on Monday and it is 5 days post op for me and I feel great. The first two days were the worst but by Wednesday, I was feeling back to normal with a little soreness on my belly. I gets better and better each day. Hang in there.
  2. I too was banded on Sept 22nd. The first three days were the hardest but not unbearable. Today I have only had a slight pain on my left side. Not sure what it is because I took a gas X and that didn't seem to touch it. I have eaten very little and not trying to push it. I am able to drink liquids pretty well. I haven't had any problems with that. I've been taking my pain meds every 4 hours but will start weaning myself off of them tomorrow. Other than that I don't feel like I have a band. I hope this continues. Wishing you all the best on your band journey.

1 day post op and scared

I almost started to vomit right out of surgery, but the nurse put a alcohol swab in front of my nose and it stopped the feeling of needing to throw up. It worked.
  4. received my band on Monday, Sept. 22nd. I was feeling better than I thought I would, but Tuesday was rough. I finally feel pretty good today and should feel great tomorrow. I haven't had any gas pains mostly nausea and soreness in my abdomen. I was also feeling extremely sleepy. I took my dogs for a walk around the park and that felt great. I was finally able to get down a quarter cup of pureed chicken noodle soup. I haven't been hungry but need to get something in. Other than that everything is going well and I hope it continues.

    Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in

September 22 was my date. I feel really good. I don't have any gas pain and am only experiencing pain from my stomach. The nasua is disappearing and I have been able to walk and move around really well. I didn't really eat anything yesterday, only sipped water and ate a couple of hard pieces of candy which the candy made me feel a little sick. Other than that, it seems I am doing very well at least so far.

    Any September Banders?

Banded yesterday, Sept 22 and no problems. Actually feeling pretty good.
  7. Well thank you all for the well wishes. Everything went very well. I woke up this morning surprisingly not nervous at all. Got to the surgery center at 7:30. The receptionist was great. You should not bring anything of value. Do not wear any jewelry because they put all your things in a plastic bag and take the bag away. Not sure where they take it. During the 1 1/2 hours of the wait, they started my IV and gave me all the medications I was going to need for the surgery Also I met with both doctors. It went by very fast. Then they rolled me out to the operating room and moved me onto another table. There were about six people in the room including two of his students. They didn't ask me to count down or anything I think they just added the medicine and I just feel asleep. The next thing I knew they are waking me up and asking me to sip some ice cubes. That's when I slowing started to feel the pain from the surgery. Not unbearable, but that’s when it sank in that I had made it though the surgery. My mom came and picked me up and they wheeled me out in a wheel chair. My surgery started at 9:20 and I left to go home 12:45. I was up a walking and sipping with no real problems. I tried to eat a piece of hard candy but my stomach didn't like that too much so I will just be sipping water for today. It feels better to sit upward and also to walk around. It seems when you do the pain is less noticeable. I'm doing great so far. I'm glad I went for it. My scars aren't too bad. I am swollen but other than that I thought it would be much much worse that what it has been so far. Good luck to all of you with surgeries coming up. I will be thinking of you. Be sure to post so we know how your surgery went. As far as the Dinner invitation, I would have loved to go, but I came down to Colorado Springs to recuperate so I won't even be in Denver. I would have loved to meet you all. Maybe going forward we can try to meet up so we can be of support to each other since were getting our bands so close to the same time

    surgeries September 22

Well I made it. I seem to be doing pretty good. Just stomach pain. I have only been able to tolerate sipping water. I tried to eat a piece of hard candy, but as soon as I did I almost threw up. My stomach did not like that so I will just to water for tonight. I don't have any gas pains and have been doing a good share of walking. Everything is great so far. I hope everyone else is doing well also. Check in so we know.

    surgeries September 22

Oh Teri, How sweet you are. Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers for all of us! How thoughful of you. I have a tear coming through. I wish everyone a safe surgery and a quick successful recovery.
  11. My doctor recommended not putting anything on the scars after surgery. He said they will heal nicely without putting anything on them. I have old scars that still show. Did you put anything like Maderma (spelling) or vit E on them after surgery?
  12. Thank you for the good wishes for me on Monday. I am getting nervous but also ready to get the show on the road. I am going to get some fruit juices and a heating pad. I am still looking into what Protein drinks to get. I think I will still get Gax X even though doc doesn't think I will need it (back up plan). Other than that I guess I will deal with things as they come up. I will let you know exactly what happends on the day of surgery with Dr. K so you will better prepared with what to expect.
  13. Oh he also said I cannot eat or drink anything for 4 hours before surgery. Also, you should not be constipated on the day of the surgery. He really stressed that point, so I am drinking lots of water up till the surgery and making sure I mix Benefiber with my water. Doing Atkins seems to make a person constipated. It's either that or I'm not getting enough water.:crying:
  14. Well I had my preop appointment this morning. I was anxious as well as nervous to see if I dropped enough to qualify. I did. I asked the Dr. if I could have a last meal on Sunday night and he said no. He said if I eat carbs my liver will expand rapidly so no carbs today or going forward. He also said the facility where I will be having the procedure has all new equipment and that he uses only physicians as his anesthesiologist instead of nurses. Not that nurses aren't just as good, but he said they cost the same. He said the operating room is just as well equipped as a hospital. He also said he does not recommend putting anything on the scars because it makes them worse in the long run. He also said that he gets rid of all the gas around your intestines so there is no need for Gas X. He said I could take it but he thinks it is a waste of money. He prescribed Vocodin liquid (sp), an antibiotic, a suppository and an anti nausea medicine. He will also be giving me an Albuturol treatment for my asthma before surgery. I feel totally at ease with doing this with him. He is very confident and reassuring and I think I am in good hands. He also has students that will be in the operating room as well. Overall, I think I'm ready. :crying:
  15. I have been doing an Atkins type diet. I have slipped a little, but I have been doing ok I guess. I seem hungry though so I eat more than what I know I should. I have been losing so I guess it hasn't hurt. I thought my preop was Friday but it is actually tomorrow. Really excited to see what happends during that visit. My surgery is on Moday so I have the weekend to gather all the necessary items I need.
  16. How are you feeling now? Are things going ok?

    Drinking while eating??

My doctor said if you drink when you eat the food slips through the band faster and doesn't keep you full as long so it defeats the purpose of having the band.

WHY are people voting for McCain?

Obama gets my vote too and the vote of most people I know and I'm in conservative Colorado.
  19. My preop is this Friday so I will find out and let you know about the medication.

WHY are people voting for McCain?

Well said. We also cannot protect this country if we are crippled economically like we are quickly heading now. Who's going to pay taxes when all the good jobs are outsourced. Who's going to buy goods to keep the economy a float (the 1% of wealthy Americans)? Who's going to pay for the soldiers while they are off fighting a war that never should have been waged. Everything will be affected. Less police protection, hospital closures, roads not being repaired. The Republicans think they will not be affected but everyone will be affected even that 1%. I am trying to simplify here as this is such a touchy subject for me so I'll just keep it light. That was a great question!
  21. Wow, eight more days to go before being banded. Feeling nervous and excited at the same time. This site is wonderful!

    Any September Banders?

I have 12 more days to go and boy am I really getting nervous. I have been doing my pre op diet which is Atkins like. I have slipped a little but not to bad. I will make sure I stay on track now though since the count down in really on. I am only supposed to do it for 7 days but thought I would get any early start. Trying to wrap my mind around this new lifestyle. Good luck to all of you who are yet to be banded and congrats to all of you who have already been banded.
