    Twenties NSVs

Hey bandster buddies! Sorry for playing Casper the friendly ghost for so long. But I’m pleased to announce that I am officially down 103 lbs! I’m sitting pretty at 256 (BMI 37.9) as of this morning with 86.5 more lbs til goal. Might I remind you I started this journey at a miserable 359 lbs (BMI 53). One of my short-term goals was to be 240’s-ish by Memorial day which is only less than 1 week away but I’m happy regardless of whether I make that or not. I’ll be flying to ATL that weekend to see family I haven’t seen in a while so I know they’ll be shocked to see the smaller me. I’ve been getting compliments left and right. I think the funniest ones come from my co-workers. One of men in my office just stared at me with a confused look on his face one day and said, “you’re a lot skinnier these days.” From others I get, “you’re wasting away!” One of my co-workers (who has had much gradual weight loss success herself through weight watchers) actually guessed my weight to be 210 lbs. I said “I wish, but not yet!” Guess I can attribute that to all the hours I’ve put in weight training. Pics soon to come...

  6. I'm sorry to hear that. Good luck with the surgery! How long does it take?

  7. Hey Trina, I'm doing well. I've lost about 57 lbs so far. But I have to say i'm still not as lucky as some of these other people who say they've never lifted a finger and just lost a ton of weight. I exercise 5-6 days a week, some weeks everyday (if I know I cheated really bad on my diet.) And I cut out all fast food other than my occasional restaurant outing to outback, red lobster and applebees or something. I started cooking my lunches and dinners so I won't be tempted to buy junk. I'm also very aggressive at getting my fills (I'm up to 10.6 cc in my 11 cc band.) I probably see my dr. at least once every 3 weeks. To make sure I stay on top of things. Most importantly I just try to remember that the lap band is a tool not a cure so i'll keep pushing to lose the weight (I have a very long way to go and don't want to wait 2 or 3 years to get there.) Hope this helps. You'll do great!

  8. Thanks and will do!

    before... wow!!!

Girl you look good I fail to see where the next 50 lbs will come from!
  10. But I love that show I never miss a beat!!
  11. Well Oprah did a show (a just saw a clip not the whole show) bringing back some of the past contestants including season 2's BL Matt. He had gained back almost all his weight. His runner-up Sussie (who he married) was not as buff as she was when she left the ranch.
  12. Just wondering how many cc's it took those with 11 cc bands to reach their sweet spots. I currently have 10.2 ccs and am not sure is I am there yet. I get still eat a fair amount until I'm full yet I have a tough time eating baked or grilled chicken (my favorite.) Will another fill put me over the top? I have yet to experience PBing and know for that I don't want to. Please share your own experiences so that I may gain some insight. Thanks!

    Average age of a Bandster?

Banded at 25 and would have done it sooner if I could have!
  15. Hi Jessica,

Congrats on taking steps to take care of you! If he walked out due to your physical appearence then that just means he wasn't the one girl.

I feel very good right now. After surgery I was veeeeerrry... sore I had trouble sleeping the first 2 nights without my drugs cause I was so tender at the port site. And I was very bloated from the gas. But I quickly realized the more walking I did the more my pain went away. I walked on the treadmill, at the gym, the park. It just helped me sooooo... much. I'm still less than 2 months out of surgery but my scars are healing very well, I have no more pain and can do what I used to including lifts weights and take combat. My skin isn't hanging and I don't expect it to but I'm only 50 lbs down so I'll keep you posted. Hope that helps. Good luck with everything!

  16. Hi! Just wondering if anyone banded at NYU has attended the lap band 0-12 months support group or participated in any of the programs. I am thinking of attending and would like some insight. Thanks!

    NYU lap band support group

Yes it is. I may just pop in this month and see how it is.

Low Carb diet and the lap band

Congrats Laptalker! I have always found that watching my carbs and fat have helped me as well.
  19. Hey Lenore! Just wanted to find out how my bandtwin was doing?

  20. Hey theninside! How's it going?

  21. Hey Trina! I'm doing well. How are you? I've lost about 50 lbs so far (about 35 lbs pre-op.) I feel the same way when I find people weighing what I did. I'm still working on the pics. I didn't plan on really taking any until I my 2nd mini-goal of 100 lbs lost. But I may re-consider. How many fills have you had?

  22. Sistergrl25

    oh no 5 hours!

I too had a cold the day I was banded. I did everything I could to get rid of it to no resolve. But I was fine. Just did alot more snoring so they monitored my breathing afterwards.
  23. Hey girls, I'm finally banded and just got home this moring. I'm very sore but otherwise feeling feel. FYI-I lost 34 lbs pre-op dieting! My surgeon said my liver was like a fillet. LOL!
  24. Sistergrl25

    Banded and very very sore...

I too have the gas problem and was able to return to work in 4 days. I find that walking reeeallllly helps with that along with my gas-x strips. The more and faster I walk the more gas I release. Sorry if this is TMI...

    Banded and very very sore...

Thanks all! I'm feeling much better and am going back to work tomorrow...unfortunately. Just can't seem to shake this "port site" pain though but thats also improving. I had my x-rays done today and NO ONE warned me about having to drink that horrible barium sulfate. That experience was worse than surgery I have to say (not that surgery was bad.) But that stuff is horrible! Anyway I have my follow-up appt. this fri. with my surgeon I'll be sure to keep you posted.
