MissD123 got a reaction from You Are My Sunshine in October 2022 surgery support
I am also going back and forth on my decision. It’s a permanent surgery. But then each time I lose weight, I gain it back plus more. Been 10 years that my weight started going up due to a very stressful divorce, menopause and then losing my mom and the pandemic, so …. My surgeon said that weight gain is typically only 10%… that is reassuring. I keep picturing myself thinner again (just going for healthy weight - not ideal weight) and healthier and more energetic that seems to help me focus on the positive of the surgery.

Hi everyone, my husband had GSV surgery 2 days ago - is it normal that he is sleeping so much? He gets up and walks a bit,, has some Water and then needs to go lie down again. Constantly feels nauseous… is on 2 meds for nausea. I am a bit nervous for myself since I am scheduled for GSV surgery in October

I won't lie, I have friends and co-workers who have had some sort of weight loss surgery (lap band, gastric bypass, etc.) and I unfortunately didn't look at them as I should. I thought they "took the easy way out, didn't work hard enough, etc.". However, now that the shoe is on the other foot, I realize it was wrong for me to unnecessarily project my opinion on their situation. All that aside...
I think it's up to you when, who, and how you tell. You can be as detailed or as vague as you'd like. I've told my boss at work and just told her I was having "surgery". I have told close friends and family, who I know would be more supportive and receptive to it. Ultimately, it's up to you who you tell and how you tell them. Good Luck!

Who says you have to tell anyone?
Its really up to you and your comfort level.
I told 5 people: Mr., the Kid, BFF, mom and sister. All of whom I know wouldn’t say anything to anyone else if i asked them not to.
That was almost 4 years ago.
During weight loss phase, everyone and their mothers would ask or comment about my changing appearance. i simply said i was on a diet and changed the subject to be about them. That pretty much did the trick.
No one asks/says anything to me anymore. My size just old news now.
Tell who you want to tell, it’s not anyone else’s business but yours.
    Good luck! ❤️

I told no one except my husband. I didnt tell anyone because I felt it was a decision I made for my health and a better me. I have witnessed others derogatory comments/statements of others. I feel bad enough on my own accord that I allowed myself to become this big that I didnt want to hear what other ppl thought too good or bad.
INo one has said anything to me about the 50+ lbs I lost already except for my boss. She said she could definitely tell but no one else including my own family has not said a word. LOL I am beginning to wonder how much I need to lose before others says something. I have lost and gained weight before so maybe they are waiting for that to happen again who knows lol.
When my boss asked me about it I just said the truth, I am drinking more Water and taking in higher amounts of Protein while reducing my carb intake. She was satisified with my answer...it was a Win, Win.
