  1. I am glad to see that none of us said that we have given up on the band. It looks like most of us are still in the fight.

I have had some bumps along the way, but I am still slowly losing. Right now I just feel really thankful. The weight hasn't come off as quickly as I thought it would, but I haven't been this weight since I graduated from high school in 1997. I guess my next goal is my middle school weight, lol. I don't even remember getting over 300 lbs and right now it feels really good to be in the 200's. I am looking forward to the 100's. I am hopeful and optimistic.

I am really trying to work on making some additional changes this year and losing some more of this weight. I am about half way to my goal. I am looking forward to losing this second half.

  2. Hi all,

I am trying to find out the easiest way to find out about Walk-a-thons. I am specifically looking for walk-a-thons for Sarcoidosis and Diabetes in my area (or state). There are others I would definitely do as well, I really want to do causes that either affect my family and friends.

I thought this would be a good way to help a cause and get exercise in as well.

I tried doing a search online, but didn't find anything for Sarcoidosis. I am going to try and find Diabetes.

    Thanks!!

  3. I got some from costco. One weekend they had a sample out. It was the granulated kind. They had a bundle pack with the individualized packs and a pouring container. It's okay. I like splenda better. It seems like the ZSweet tasted better in the store. They had it served with fresh blueberries.

It you need a granulated sweetner, it's decent.

  4. I called Dr. Enoch's office prior to my surgery to set up for aftercare. I didn't have a good experience. I went 3 times and he could never find my port, so it put me way behind on my fills. I won't go into all of it now, but I wrote posts about my experience last year. I think he would have been fine if he did the fills under fluro.

  5. I sometimes have the Classic Crab artificial crab meat (made with fish and crab). The leg style is about the size of a string cheese and three have only 90 calories. They come fully cooked. I also make crab cakes with them and have them in salad. Good Omega threes, too.

Where do you get this? I don't recall ever seeing it. I did a search for it and nothing came up.

    Thanks!!

  6. I love Ethnic foods. I can pretty much eat anything besides fried rice. The only fried rice that doesn't get stuck is P.F. Chang. I can eat Jasmine Rice, but brown rice doesn't do good on the norm.

Mexican, Italian, Jamaican, Japanese, etc. all do fine. It would probably be good if some of it didn't work.

  7. Thanks for all the posts. I know I am getting a dog for sure, but I am still in the deciding phase. I have been looking a lot online and I am considering a mix like a Cockapoo, Maltipoo, Yorkiepoo, Westipoo, etc. I like a lot of the poodle mix dogs.

I have been checking Petfinder and I have seen some really cute dogs. Most of the ones that I really like are too far away.

  8. Jblotner, that's a good idea. I am going to keep checking the rescues also. I forgot about them. I wish there was a site to find out about different ones in my area.

I know there is a beagle rescue about 25 minutes from here and a Yorkie rescue about 1 1/2 from here.

  9. This may have already been asked, but has anyone tried their meal plan? They mentioned it on the last episode and I went on their website to check today.

I don't think I would try it, but it sounds pretty okay. It sounds like a Nutra System type plan.

  10. I love Golden Retrievers too!! I guess I pretty much love all dogs.

I have wondered about how far little dogs can walk too. I asked one of my friends about that and she said her dog doesn't have a problem with keeping up. I guess it could depend on the dog too.

    Thanks for posting!!

I was reading earlier on a dog message board where someone said there dog didn't like walking at all. I am hoping I won't end up with dog that doesn't want to go for walks. I have never heard of that before.

  11. Your dog is adorable. I wondered about what I will do with the dog during the day once I move. I considered doggie daycare, but they might be out of my price range.

i almost got a year old Shihpoo a couple weeks ago, but the owners backed out at the last minute. They hadn't told their child who begged them to keep him. They actually crated him during the day and he was okay.

  12. I did something like Curves here called the Women's Fitness Express or something like that. It was okay the first few times, but after that I was bored. Some people wouldn't change stations and that was annoying to me. I paid for a few weeks to try it out and didn't go back. I think I would have liked it more if the circuit was in addition to other stuff. They just had one treadmill, hula hoops, balls, jump ropes, etc.

Aquafit sounds fun. I am going to look it up and see if we have anything like it here. My best friend just started Water classes at the YMCA and she really loves it. I told her I would come with her one day to try it, but I really don't want to join the Y again.

I am looking for something I can enjoy. I am thinking of taking boxing classes. We have something here calling Boxing 2 Be Fit that I keep hearing about.

  13. I love dogs. Growing up we always had dogs. After my last dog passed away it was a while before I even though about getting another dog.

Well lately I have been wanting another dog. The reason I put this under the fitness and exercise category is because I think getting a dog would also motivate me to walk more.

I have been checking Petfinder.com: Adopt a pet and help an animal shelter rescue a puppy or kitten. and the local shelters online. I am having a hard time picking a breed. We always had mixed breeds, medium to large in size. Now I really want a smaller dog, especially since I may end up back in an apartment.

We have had a lot of puppy mill raids here lately and after watching Oprah recently, I really want to know where my dog is coming from. I have checked our local newspaper and there are a lot of pricey breeders, some of whom I would consider, but I want to make sure they are good honest breeders.

I would appreciate any advise or hearing from someone else that had the same idea.

  14. Skyeblu! I've only been banded 6 months, so I can't speak to getting the band checked after a year. I've been using the FillCenter doc in Denver NC and am pleased with him, but the FillCenter price without fluro is now $175. I've always been tempted to see if he'd do my fills without the middle man, so to speak, but just haven't had the nerve to ask yet. Also, wanted to mention..... how 'bout those TARHEELS --- final four, yeah man!!!!

I received a call from Fillcentersusa Friday following up with me. I really didn't get much out of the call other than I need another fill. They are going to call me back Monday morning to schedule my appointment for the Denver location. I am really nervous about trying someone else.

The first doc I went too could never find my port, didn't numb and it was just a bad experience. Does the doc in NC numb the area before doing the fill?

Thanks for responding. I also wondered if they would ever consider cutting out "the middle man" too.

...Oh, and I was really proud of my Tarheels!! So close!!

  15. Dynamo, hurray for your new romance! I hope it continues to blossom. Spring is the perfect time for new beginnings, right?

Welcome mamato3. I have only been here a short time but everyone has been so supportive and thoughtful. I envy you moving back to Colorado -- what a beautiful state. Wish I could convince my DH to move!

Hey skyblu79, I have seen you on OH. I went back to Dr. K for my first fill. It made me feel better to have him check me out and make sure everything was OK. But I know a lot of people don't ever go back to their original surgeon when he's out of state and don't have a problem. I can't afford to go back to Dr. K for every fill, so I am narrowing down my choices for a local fill doc. I am wary of FillCentersUSA for whatever reason although a lot of people seem to love it. I didn't know you were near my neck of the woods (Georgia). Have you been going to the fill center in Roswell?

Linz I will continue to keep you and your husband in my thoughts. Good for you for doing things for yourself and having alone time. It's really important.

As for me, I have exercised for the past three days in a row and intend to do it again tonight. I'm on a roll! I have a new dance workout DVD and I love it -- it's so much fun that I don't get as bogged down in the "I hate exercising" mindset. Constantly changing things up is the key to keeping me interested. I get bored pretty quickly!

Happy Monday to all...although it hasn't started off that great for me. DH's car wouldn't start so I had to take him to work and was 15 mins late to work myself. Oh well. It can only get better, right?

Sorry it took me so long to respond. I have only gone to the Roswell location and they are great. It's always under fluro. If it was closer I would go back, but I really don't have the time and I usually end up getting a hotel for the day before and the day after and factor in gas prices and it's too much

I actually live in NC. I would love to move to that part of GA though. I only went there before the NC location had not opened when I got my first fill. I think I am going to try the NC location ASAP. I really need another fill. I am so ready to get to my sweet spot. I am really trying to get back on track.

    Thanks for responding.

  16. Hi all,

I just have a question for my follow Dr. K bandsters. I was banded by Dr. K on 2/20/07 and I haven't been able to go back since then. I had a bad attempted fill experience initally and ended up not getting my first fill until July. I have had 4 fills since then and I still am not at my sweet spot.

I had had upper GI done about 6 weeks after surgery w/my 1st fill doc and he said it looked fine. Now I get all my fills under fluro w/Fillcentersusa and they said it looks fine as well.

Since it has now been a little over 13 months after surgery and I am wondering if I need my band really checked my a band doc. I am thinking about going back out to Denver to see Dr. K. I would love to do it, but w/the costs associated if I don't need to I won't.

I drive to GA to get all my fills and it is costly as well. I am considering trying a closer doc, about 2 1/2 hours away (who is also w/Fillcentersusa).

I had a really great experience w/Dr. K for surgery and I am sure I would have good fill experience with him. My initial experience was so horrible, I called Dr. K and he said to find another doc. It took me so long to find someone and now I feel really comfortable with. I just wonder if they are taking it too slow or what.

I know quite a few of us got surgery around the same time from out of state. I was wondering if you have gotten your band checked. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!!

  17. Tonight David Cook was definitely my fav. I really didn't notice him until tonight. At least not in a good way. David Archuleta is still my all around fav though. I didn't like his performance that much tonight, but I still really like him.

  18. Cota129, I'm glad everything worked out for you. I wish I had done it years ago. I wonder now why I have stayed this long. I guess out of fear and listening to other people.

Marimaru, I am definitely going to find another job first. I notice that no on others job relocation expenses anymore which stinks, but oh well. I am just going to keep searching for the right job and save up a little more money.

    Thanks for the posts!! :rolleyes2:

  19. Pix, I agree about the 6 months of income if I just pick up and leave. I am really thinking I need to just save a little more $$ over the next couple of months. And I really prefer to find another job before I move. Either way I will still need moving expenses, rent, etc.

Betrthnever, one of the hardest parts is figuring out where I want to move. At least point, I am really leaning towards GA, but that may change. It would be the easiest place to move at this point.

Heartfire, you are right. Unless something great happens here in the next 3 months or my dream job comes my way, I am gone.
