    Scared and Confused

Pezo... I have never been to a seminar where they actually pushed gastric.. Most doctors enourage lap band ... but to each his own I guess. I would suggest you do a lot of research before making your decision. You have to be mentally ready to maket his kind of change. I researched both procedures for over 7 years and went to multiple seminars until I finally went to the most recent seminar in June 08 and found my doctor. He is an amazing doctor and makes you believe in yourself. If you want to loose weight you will..Not it is not easy there is not magic pill for weight loss if there was none of us would be having this surgery ha ha Yes it does required changes in your life, but you would be surprise the will power you find when you are spending so much money and finally being given the help you need to succeed.. My doctor told me that lap band should not be hard, but I guess that is a matter of opinion. The hardest part is chaning your life. Once you change your life style it gets pretty easy. I used to find it hard to decide on what to eat and that is why I always made bad choices, but now I can pretty much eat what I want with the exception of fast food and I make sure I am only eating 1 cup of food and with the band it should help you be satisfied so you wont get hungry.. There are times you may get hungry sooner and that indicates you might need a fill. Also, I used to not be very active and now I love going for my 2 mile walks and getting up and moving around.. You find when you can start doing things that you enjoy it.. Just keep doing your research and talking to people and make the decision that is right for you.. The bad thing about gastric is yes they can loose weight quicker, but if they dont eat right they can stretch their stomach back out and then the whole thing was for nothing, but with the band if you get hungry you can have it tightened and there are less complications with the band.. Well good luck and best wishes to you. Let me know if I can help in any other way and keep us posted

    Hello from WV

kdlee.. that is so funny my son says we make his legs hurt too ha ha.. I always tell him if my legs can make it so can his.. How the heck can they be so small and hurt so much.. Kids are so cute.. My hubby walks faster then me, but he is usually in sight distance of me and if he is getting to far he will walk to be with me for a little bit.. So we just make sure to stick together and we really enjoy our walking. We have bikes too and he wants to ride, but I am not that graceful so I told him i wanted to loose about 50 more lbs before we started the biking thing ha ha.. just being extra cautious..

    Hello from WV

Mary.. My husband has his surgery the week before me. he has lost about 36 lbs. He is doing so good, but he also had a period where he did not loose anything either. It was between weeks 3 and 5, but we are not both loosing and it feels good to be loosing again. I love walking with him. Usually he speeds in front of me with his long legs, but last night he walked at my pace and it was nice and enjoyable. Our 7 year old son walks with us and complains the whole time. ha ha He is in perfect health not an ounce of fat on him, but i tell him when he complains that this is to help prevent him from getting overweight.. I try to only make him go with us 3 or 4 times a week because he plays so much outside after school, but if his grandparents are not home to watch him he has to go with us.. It will benefit him so I dont mind and I usually dance along the trail to make him laugh.. I think he really enjoys it secretly because he is always asking if we are walking or not ha ha..I am lucky I had this chance in life and I want to enjoy every minute of it.. Before now I did not think I would have a chance to see grandkids, but now I feel I will get to see a lot more years and I am excited about it  St pete is nice does your brother live near the beach?? I live in Tampa so he is not to far from me.. I hope everyone is having a terrific day...

    Hello from WV

Mary.. I moved when I was 5, but I went back every summer and I still have a lot of family there, but the last time I went which was this year was a very sad visit it was to put my grandma to rest and now my grandpa is living here in Florida with us and he is thinking of selling their house .. It is very sad to think the house I grew up in will belong to someone else one day.. My grandfather built it from the ground up and they lived in that house forever.. Well anyways.. Not sure when I will visit again.. I love W.V it is so beautiful compare to Florida ha ha.. Everything you see if Florida is the same all flat land and palm trees.. Glad you are satisfied with the 1/2 cup. I am 6 weeks out right now and have not gotten my fill. I am not sure when I will I am very nervous about it.. My husband has had 2 and he said they are fine, but I am just nervous.. Plus at this time the cup is lasting me so I am ok with that.. well have a good night everyone and take care..

    Hello from WV

WVU-FAN I have family that lives in parkersburg... of course it has been years since I have seen them.. KDlee.. The measuring really works. I was freaking shocked.. I really would have assumed with how little I was eating before that I would have lost weight, but I guess it was not little enough ha ha.. So measure really helps .. I usually allow myself one snack a day and I try not to deprive myself of a craving .. So everyone in this thread likes Zumba huh?? I am not at a place where I feel comfortable going to a class, but I am thinking about buying the DVD and doing it at home. I will make my hubby dance too ha ha
  8. Hey I just wanted to check in with you.. how are you feeling and how is everything going??

    Hello from WV

Mary, did your doctor tell you to only eat a half a cup or are you just full @ that amount?? I am only asking because some times if you dont eat enough your body will hold on to what you are eating and store as fat.. Mine was very specific about 1 cup 3 times a day and 1 snack... I know they are all different that is why I am asking. It is hard to find someone who was given the same information as the next ha ha..I wish you all the best keep in touch.. what part of W.V where you born in? I was born in Charleston..

    Hello from WV

Hey everyone.. I am not currently living in West Virginia, but I was born there..Hope that counts enough to post in this thread  I have been reading some post and you all seem to be doing great.. I wanted to say best of luck to those who are getting ready to have your surgeries.. Elizabeth. I read the one post about you being a slow looser and I just wanted to say be glad you are loosing.. and congrats on your current weight loss.. I just thought I would share with everyone my story. I had my surgery on Oct 1st. I lost about 17lbs before surgery and then about 15 on post op diet..and then for about 3 weeks I battled an up and down of weight and was not loosing anything.. I was starting to get extremely discouraged.. I went to get my first fill and my doctor said there was no way I was eating only 1 cup of food per meal because if I was doing that I would have lost weight.. I can tell you I had my feelings hurt very badly @ that appointment because i thought I was doing everything right and from what he said I felt like I had failed.. anyways, I did not get my fill. Doc said since I was not really hungry, but an hour b4 my next meal he did not feel comfortable giving it to me yet.. SO you can be sure I started measuring my food 1 cup to the T and nothing more and I had started walking about a week before my appointment, but I usually walk 2 to 2.5 miles per night and try to push myself a little harder or further every night.. and since that appt which was just a week ago I have lost 9 lbs.. I am SO thrilled.. I dont really feel like I was a failure anymore, but I feel like I needed a kick in the butt.. and I realized that thanks to the band we can get the kick in the butt and get back on track so we are lucky in that aspect. I just wish the kick in the butt had been done more tactfully.. My feelings were rather hurt that day.... Well thanks for listening to my story. I hope it can encourage someone else.. My only suggestions are make sure to measure and exercise.. I dont avoid any kind of food except fast food.... My best wishes to all and take care.. Thanks for letting me post here
  12. steph.. welcome to LBT.. good luck with your weight loss and congrats so far.. You are doing awesome... Just remember you won't fail you will succeed.. 15. Happy one month bandiversary :)

  16. Suit up you handsome man :) OMG .. I just looked up to the right and saw your age...where has the time gone ha ha Love u :)

  17. Kathi.. I go to disney all the time and have never had a problem fitting on ANY ride there.. The only ride that was tight was space moutain and well honestly it is not my favorite ride anyways it gives me a headache. ha ha.. My family and I are Annual pass holders their because it is nice to go walk around and ride the rides.. I don't ever go to Busch Gardens because they are not fat friendly ha ha and Neither is universal, but ANYWAYs i will get off that tangent.. You should be absolutely fine and just enjoy your vacation...best wishes
  18. Jackie.. you did nothing wrong by telling the people in your life.. I have told EVERYONE.. even people I don't know if they ask me why I am not eating a lot or why i am being picky I will tell them.. There is nothing to be ashamed of and I feel the more support the better.. I think some people are concerned about the negative responses they may get, but I think most negative responses come from those who are not fully educated on the process and unfortunately you will run into people who are not fully educated, but that is ok.. Help educate this if they want to know and if they don't well that is their loss, because almost everyone is this world knows some one who could benefits from WLS ... Keep talking to people.. Build your support and don't be afraid to tell people they positive step you are taking in your life.. best wishes
  19. Falcon.. Most doctors do not want to put the low profile port in to begin with because it is often times hard to find during a fill.. I would think maybe you ask your doctor if he will just put it in if that is what you really want..
  20. meschultz

    I feel so relieved

Beth.. that is awesome that he is supportive.. We all need support and i tell you it is easiest when the hubby's are there for us.. My husband is overweight, but not as bad as me, but he decided to have Lapband with me so he could go through it at the same time and I did not have to do it alone...It made me very happy he was willing to take the journey with me..We are lucky to have such wonderful men in our lives.. Best wishes to you on your journey.. Keep in touch
  21. hundred.. best wishes to you.. enjoy your journey and remember to continue believing.. sometimes the process can be long and other times it is short and easy, but dont give up hope.. best wishes take care
  22. Tracie.. I got really sick of the protein drinks as well.. I think it is just normal when you are only having that taste for 7 or 8 days straight.. I behaved and did not have anything to eat until my 9th day and I have to tell you the last day was the hardest.. I had the lump in my throat as well. i think it was just a build up of gas. it went away at about day 12 my first few days of mushies I could barely eat, but it was nice to have something different. I guess our difference is I never felt hungry.. I only ate my required amounts for the protein... I asked my doctor why I was so restricted and he said when he put my band on there is some FILL in it already. so it makes the band ever tighter and usually people start to get hungry because the swelling in their stomachs go down so the band is no longer as tight as it once was.. anyways ask your doc. I bet you had some saline in yours to start as well.. and just power through.. any really pains or things that are very uncomfortable or abnormal call your doc ASAP... best wishes..

Long and slender or tiny and powerful?

Alright can I just say how annoying it is when you type of this long post and you hit post reply and it says page can not be displayed and everything you had typed out is gone.. AAAAAAAHHHH annoying.. ANYWAYS... Sorry about the rant.. Denise.. Don't be afraid to go into your local XXX store.. everyone at the store is there for the same thing as you. You might feel a little out of your element the first few visits, but you will get used to going in and it wont seem odd..I would rather go to a store then order online because I can look up close at what I am purchasing .... Get a few girlfriends or your boyfriend to go with you.. It is always fun to go as a group.. I personally like my hubby to go with me so he can be a part of the decisions... Thanks for starting this thread it is nice to come in here and talk about something other then what we ate or how many lbs we lost or gained today ha ha.. A funny I wanted to share... I told my hubby before my preop that when the doctor asked me why I was having this surgery I was going to tell him it is so I could have sex in many new positions... Skinny people make all positions look so easy ha ha.. That is not really why I had the surgery, but it sure will be a benefit :grouphug: Had I said that to the doc it would have been hilarious, but I just could not bring myself to say it that day haha As adventurous as I am I too chicken out :pray2: Keep having fun everyone.. Take care and best wishes..
