  1. I've been debating whether I should infuriate the masses by revealing my diet and the one food that I lost 60 lbs eating daily, but I haven't decided if the "judges" can handle it. Stay tuned, lol

Amen about the judges! I have been slapped down by the judges/experts as well. The funny thing is they jump up on thier judge/expert soap boxes sometimes even before they are banded, or shortly there after.

Hey, you have lost a huge amount of weight, so don't let the judges bother you.

i would love to know what that diet is

  2. Again, please, no judging or lecturing here. I'm just asking an honest question. Who is doing this the tight band way? and if you are doing it that way, you know who you are. Not everyone can deal with the gym and calorie counting. For some of us the quasi-starvation method is what works best. Of course there are obvious side effects and issues with a tight band, but I would love to chat with others who got to their goal like me, with a tight band.

this is what i want, my doctor for some un godly reason will not tighten my band so i can lose my weight, he seems to think i'm doing fine, but right now i've had a setback and trying to get back on track

  3. calling out to all my bandster family, all was going well with me, than i hit this rock that i cant seem to get around  , lost 40 lbs , and that was since my last appt in october, believe i've gained some of it back , see my body craves sugar and i really had a melt down and cant seem to get back on track. i seriously need some guidance, i'm even afraid to go back to my wlc for a followup and i just realized i missed an appt two weeks ago, please everyone give me a group hug and suggestions on how to get back on track, you know the jacked up part to is i stop going to the gym , but i PROMISE tomorrow i will be there, no if ands or buts about it, right now i feel like umpa lumpa , although my clothes are still big on me , because i refuse to shop right now and this is the reason why, cause i know i'll have set backs, help help help, i've fallen and can't get up.

  4. First off, don't listen to your friend, do what your doctor tells you. You are going to get a lot of diet advice from people around you but always check with your surgeon. If he/she did not give you guidelines on calorie intake during this stage, ask them to. Even if it is another bandster giving you advice, always check with your doctor first.

Second, you are not in weight loss phase yet. Until you start getting fills you are not expected to lose weight and as a matter of fact, many people gain 5-10 pounds during this stage. So pat yourself on the back for actually losing 6...you are doing great!

We all had to live on willpower alone during this stage, that is why we call it Bandster Hell. It will pass but it may be progressional, one fill may help-the second fill even better. On average it takes up to four fills to really feel the affects of having the band.

OMG...........I'm so grateful of your response.......i was thinking the same thing. You made me feel so much better. I was banded on 6/22/09 and refuse to get on the scale but my clothes are very loose now and so many folks have told me that my face has gotten smaller. Also i'm having the problem with eating enough calories. I have an appt on 7/31/09 and will ask lots of questions while i'm there.

  5. NOOOO I didnt take any offence... I thought that I had changed that! lol I was going to change it to ground turkey and turkey bacon and low cal cheese, the olive oil mayo is low cal already.. Like I said I hadnt tried to make it yet I just saw it and thought it looked good...:tongue_smilie:

please tell me how you've lost so much weight, i was banded on 6/22/09 and don't see a change or is it too soon.

  6. I got serious about losing weight one month prior to surgery and started my own version of a pre-op diet. Lost 17lbs. It's been just over 3 weeks since my surgery and I've lost another 21 lbs. So 38lbs total in 7 weeks. I know it won't continue like this but I can sure hope!

    what are you drinking

  7. As I've been reading through the forums, I've noticed a lot of people with the weight loss tickers that have had their surgery only a few weeks ago and many have already lost over 30 pounds! Is that NORMAL? My doctor told me that the average is one to two pounds a week.

Please share your first month's weight loss, stories and amounts.

I find that so hard to believe, i would believe it if it were like 5 lbs but 30, i was banded june 22nd and have a followup this thurday i dare not to weigh myself at all i want my clothes to be scale

  8. It's been a VERY LONG 3 years back and forth with insurance, but finally it's almost here. I'm nervous, yet anxious and all sorts of other feelings. Actually think i'm ready??? Ready or not, here it comes!

believe all who respond positive, it is worth the wait and all will be just fine, my hubby was with me and i myself was telling him i couldn't believe it was the day, after waiting 1 year because of my bp problems, i was only down for one and one half days and that was the day of and after. i'm now moving around like it didn't occur, often doing something that will remind me good luck to you ALL WILL BE FINE

  9. feeling great little sore only around the belly button incision, keeping ice pack in place stomach has gone down alot, actually smaller now than before surgery but walking around drinking my Protein Drinks, Water and broth, no complications before during or after surgery. husband said procedure was an hour and recovery was two hours, first ofc visit will be next thursday for gp, :bored: hope all continue to stay on the up n up

  10. Pennreporter I hope and pray like all hell I can walk in her shoes. I'm not sure if i can tolerate pain, i've NEVER had a surgery before but i've given birth to 4 kids naturally so i'm thinking i'll be ok.

How close, i'm in Carlisle PA

  11. Hi Family,

Just got my surgery date for June 22nd a week after my birthday. Happy Birthday to ME. Pre-op went really well. Don't have to go on pre-op diet, no crazy post-op diet, just the usual, liquid. Get excited since i waited a year but scared at the same time. I've never had a surgery before, so i'm so afraid of the pain.

  12. Ok all went to pre-op on monday, and didn't know what to expect so i had lots of questions and they were all answered, thank god.......don't have date yet...was told the office will call me in two weeks because surgeons are extremely busy....one good thing overall, i don't have to go on any liquid diet prior to surgery....my current weight is 256 and my weight loss goal is 70 lbs....i've been told i NEED to lose this to get my blood pressure under control........i am currently taking 7 bp pills twice/day and it's not fun........they have me so dizzy at times.......have been hospitalized 4 times with stroke level numbers.......so i'm going to be scared i know to have this procedures.........i've never had surgery....4 kids but no surgeries.......the staff gave me lots of reading material, so believe me i read it like its a novel......i want to mentally prepare myself for this......my biggest fear is PAIN.............other bandsters i've chatted with said to WALK LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT.....so i'm getting some new sneakers (walking) and a sauna suit and i'm going to be ready

  13. thanks to you all who have posted a message, i just want this to be over so i can start my weight loss goal, tomorrow will be the day i find out what i have to do before d day, we all have something to look forward to down the road and it will come in due time, most of my weight is my upper body, more in my stomach, but i too will be happy to lose more than 70 lbs, good luck to all and we'll be chatting, i did print out the questions to ask at pre-op and believe me i'm going to drill my dr tomorrow.

  14. This is one of the best i've read since i joined, very informative, i have pre-op appt on monday, may 4th, wow can't believe it, this has been a long road for me, i had blood pressure issues that had to be dealt with and my drs would not clear me so i'm a whole year down the road and finally at this point. your board made me feel alot better about this. thanks and GOOD LUCK, your NEW YOU starts next week. You go GURL

  15. Ok, i've read so many banders comments and my mind is in a whirlwind rolleyes.gif. One minute i'm excited the next i don't want to go through with this. Overall, i've been told i only have 70 lbs to lose, so will i have to do the liquid diet. guess i have to find out monday  i'm just confused, excited, scared, but ready to rid my body of this excess weight i've gained since moving here in central pa. i just hope to have nothing but success stories to chat about in the future.
