    8 Weeks/2 Months Post Op

Sometimes it's hard to believe how much of a difference this makes. Try not to worry so much on the weight loss but more on the living a healthier life. The weight will come off as you exercise more and eat better. It's still about food choices. It's like I have mentioned before that I often times feel like the band has been more of a moral support to me then an actual physical one even though I know it is helping physical. Here are a couple of 12 weeks pictures for me.

  4. Well another good week for me. 3 more lbs lost. I am down 11 lbs for the month. I didn't reach my 15 lbs goal but I really don't care since I still had a good weight loss month. This has been one of the best decision I have ever made. I hope everyone else is as happy with this decision in their lives like I have been. So lets get those end of the months totals in everyone! Great work no matter and congrats on the 5 lbs loss China! I know you have worked hard to get that scale moving!

    12 Weeks Post-Op

First of I lost another 3 lbs this week. I can hardly believe it's been 12 weeks now and I have lost 51 lbs since surgery. This weeks weigh in came in at 391 lbs. I am on my way down and love that. I have had some big stresses happen this week with cut backs at work and so I wasn't sure how I was going to do with my weight loss. I did cheat a little on my diet but very quickly got back on track. I had originally set a 15 lbs weight loss goal for February which I didn't beat but I did lose 11 lbs for this month so I am still very happy with my weight loss. As far as my appetite goes I can tell I am just about ready for another fill. I have one scheduled for the beginning of April so I will have to stay strong until then. I can do it I know. Hard work and dedication is helping me a lot in this journey. Sometimes I think the band has been more of a moral support for me then it has been of a physical one. I know it has helped a lot in my appetite but not as much as people might think. Anyway I am grateful for getting the band and know it's been one of the best decisions I have made in my life. A big NSV (Non-Scale Victory) for me this week is I can now wear my black jeans comfortably. They are a size 48 which is a size I haven't worn in several years. This weekend Karen and I plan to get out into our garage and find the rest of the small clothes that I have saved. It's amazing what I can and cannot wear now. So what's the totals??? For the week - 3 lbs For the month - 11 lbs Since surgery - 51 lbs Since my highest weight - 94 lbs

  7. Well as I approach the 3 month mark, which is still a week away, I continue to lose weight. It is going slow and steady now but that's just fine. I am happy to with the weight loss and love being under 400 lbs and slowly working towards my next goal of 350 lbs. Another 2 lbs gone this week just goes to show that I do continue to lose the weight and am keeping the weight off. This last couple of weeks have been pretty stressful and my temptations to emotional eat have been higher then normal. I have been resisting fairly well but for some stupid reason we bought grape juice this week and I just about drank the whole thing in two days flat. One thing I am to avoid is liquid calories and all grape juice is is liquid calories. Sure there is some nutritional value to it but it's more carbs then it is helpful. At least at this point in time for me it is. Last Sunday Karen and I went to the workout room here at the apartments and I found myself rather lost in there as to what to do. I have never taken any weight training classes and now think to myself that I should have. I look at the equipment and I understand how a lot of it works but I have no idea how to put together a routine. I should probably do some research before I go back there again so I have a solid plan as to what I will do in there. So for now it's getting back to the Biggest Loser workout DVD's that I have been doing. So down to 394 lbs this week. It just dawned on my that it will be just another 9 lbs and I will have reached the 100 lbs lost mark. It's hard to believe sometimes that first of all that I did weigh that much but secondly that I have lost that much. It's a great feeling to know that I have clothes now that don't fit not because they are to small but now that they are to big. So pushing forward I will continue to do and keep on losing those pounds to live a healthier and happier life!

Week 11 Post Op - Continuing to lose the weight

Sorry to miss lead anyone. I have lost 48 lbs since surgery. I have lost 91 lbs since my highest weight. Thank you all for the congrats it has been a lot of hard work both before surgery and most certainly since. Those of you who are still waiting to get banded don't wait to start eating healthy and living right. The more you do now will make things that much easier after you get the band. Get out and start walking. Start looking at your food choices now cause they will become even more important after you get the band. Again thanks for the congrats and words of encouragement. Best of luck to you all as well!
  9. Hey Everyone! I hope everyone is doing well and continuing to lose! I had another decent week with 2 lbs lost this week. I am now down to 394 lbs. It feels great and I continue to push forward. I probably won't hit my 15 lbs goal for this month but that's ok. I am still losing weight and that's what matters. That and getting healthier =)

    Non-Scale Victories Thread

It's great reading everyone's NSV. It really goes to show how quickly we can make a change in our lives. For me the most recent NSV is one that I never really thought of. The other morning my wife and I got up and before I went out of the bedroom we went to hug. Well she goes to me, "Look at this I can touch my fingers together around you now." Not that she was just touching her finger tips she was actually pushing them together. Well it felt great that I have lost enough that she can do that! =)

who's needs to rant and rave

Sounds like you have gotten some great advice here China. I have to say I have been hooked on the Biggest Loser show as well this year. For me I had never watched it before this year but seeing those people on there and knowing they are the same size as I am has really been inspirational. Doxie is most likely right in that you are probably not getting enough calories and of those you have to be very careful of what the calories are. I have incorporated the "Biggest Loser: The Workout" DVD video into my workout routine and since I have I really have had to make sure I am getting plenty of protein every day. The body does need the energy and if we eat to little it doesn't just go after the fat that we carry around. So keep at it and eating more calories with better food choices. The band has really helped me realize that it's not completely the amount that I eat but more to do with the food choices I make that and exercising my butt off. LOL

  13. Hey Russ,

Finding a Dr. to do my fills really wasn't had at all. I went to Dr. Kuri in Tijuana for my surgery and he actually had a list of doctors in Florida. The one they had listed for me is only about 45 minutes away. The first fill was $440 which included a fee to join their group as a non-surgical patient. The fills after that will be $150 a fill so not to bad. Even though Dr. Kuri does fills for free in TJ between taking the time off from work and the airline travel to TJ it just is cheaper to go to the Doc in Ft. Lauderdale. Keep in touch and wish you the best!

  14. Ok got the spreadsheet updated and reporting in with 1 pound lost this week. Not as good as last week but a pound is a pound and I am happy with it. I have been sick most of this week which has made it harder to get in the exercise I normally do. Well after I am over this sickness I will be onto my normal routine again.
  15. Hey Vickie, No I found a place in Ft. Lauderdale to do my fills which is only about 45 minutes away from here. Going to TJ for my fills means flying, overnight stay, and of course time off from work to do this. So with all that added up it is cheaper for me to just go to Ft. Lauderdale to get my fills. My first fill went very well. Got 2 CC and the doctor was very nice. Hope all is going well for you! Peter
  16. So today I went to U.S. Bariatrics in Ft. Lauderdale for my first fill. While I was there one thing they talked to me about was my diet, which I know I haven't been the best about, but they threw me a real curve ball in something I thought I was doing good with. No More oatmeal for breakfast! Ok so that really threw me off. They said that the oatmeal tends to turn into bad carbs so for now they don't want me eating anymore oatmeal in the mornings for Breakfast. Now here comes the real dilemma for me. I have been having oatmeal almost exclusive during the week for breakfast and I do get sick of eggs quickly. So now what do I have???? So far all I can think of is the following: cottage cheese with some fruit scrambled egg with cheese and ham yogurt with some fruit Any ideas? Please help if you have some!!!

Week 9 Post Op - I DID IT!!!!

This week I broke my first milestone! I weighed in this morning at 397 lbs!!! I broke the 400 lbs mark!!!! It's a great feeling and it came with some hard work too. I lost 5 grueling pounds to being me down and let me tell you it was even weird seeing the scale this morning having a ready of less then 400! So how did I do it? Well of course with the help of the band. But also through better food choices and exercise. This week I have been working harder at making better food choices. Fish a couple of nights a week then alternating beef, pork, and chicken the other nights to keep a good variety of food in place. Of course all the meals are with some good vegis. Also I changed up my breakfast a lot. I pretty much alternate back and fourth between eggs with cheese and a meat to cottage cheese with pineapple. Both are actually a pretty filling meal for me. Lunches are 90% of the time leftovers from the night before with adding a piece of fruit. Then morning snack and afternoon snacks are usually a yogurt. That's if I do have an afternoon snack. All in all I have been eating higher protein and lower carb. But don't stop there. Eating right isn't the key to it all. So is exercise! Like I have been doing for a long time now my wife and I get out walking 6 days a week for about 30 minutes each day. It's a great form of exercise and have come to really enjoy our walks and really find them relaxing. But that's not the grueling part! If you read my last blog entry you will notice that I added in the use of an exercise video. That has really boosted my cardio and body sculpting workouts from just the normal walking. I knew I was finally to the point taking it up and notch and it has paid off! So totals for this week are!!! pounds lost since surgery - 45 lbs pounds lost since highest weight - 88 lbs actually weight for today - 397 lbs next milestone set - 350 lbs
