Welcome everyone to the our group! It's great to see so many others who are going to be banded in December! I totally hear you on the Thanks Giving dinner Kerry. Luckily I don't have a total liquid diet before surgery so I will get to have some turkey but so much for all the sides. Now Christmas isn't going to be so good. With that only being about 3 weeks after surgery that will be the attempt to have mushies. I will have to check out the baby food isle to see if they have any christmas dinners! LOL

I actually started a daily exercise program yesterday. In all honesty the beginning of my exercise program is to start walking daily. For so many years now I have not even gotten out to do this on a regular basis. Yes at the beginning of this year I did do this very well for a couple of months but other then that I wouldn't exercise at all. So for now it's walking for 30 minutes after work. So one down and 23 to go.

I have seen that Holiday Hotties seems to be taking the lead over the other names so I thought I would make up a banner for the heck of it. Just having fun and playing around. Hey all you new December Bandsters! Congrats on getting your surgery dates! Both exciting and nervous times! When you get a chance get on over to the December 2008 Bandsters part of these forums. For a quick link to it click on the link in my signature. Lots of great December conversations going on in there :thumbup: Laurie- I am surprised your surgeon hasn't talked to you about a pre-op diet as of yet. Really pre-op diets are all up to the surgeons but the main purpose of them is to reduce the size of your liver before surgery. The liver is a very large organ in your body and it sits right next to your stomach. In my case my surgeon has directed me to be on a Liver Shrinking Diet for 3 weeks prior to my surgery date. Most cases they require 2 weeks. Basically what it is is that I have a low carb high protien shake for 2 meals a day. I can have an Atkins bar between meals and then the 3rd meal of the day needs to be a low carb low fat meal. I am suppose to not exceed 30 carbs a day and 1200 calories a day. These diets very from surgeon to surgeon but that is the basic guild line of it.

Hey thought since we all will be enjoying out holiday meals in a drink that maybe we could share some recipe ideas. I thought I heard someone mention an Eggnog Shake.

As for the silverware and plates I don't need to go far for those with my 13 month old already having those :rolleyes2: He's just going to have to learn to share with Daddy. hehe - But I am not sure I want to use his plates. They are a little cartoonie for an adult. LOL

Her interview went pretty well. The hard part is like your husband it's $10k a year less then what she was making. Good news is that it looks like she might have another interview next week for another place. No offer yet on the interview from monday but they had already told her that they planned on making a decision by the end of this week. The best thing that has happened is the gas prices have been dropping!! WOOT! LOL:thumbup:

Most certainly melt away down here. LOL - I haven't seen snow in over two years now and doubt I ever will living down here. ROFL

Hey all! In the West Palm Beach area here. Getting banded on Dec. 5th. Less then a month away!!!

Hi April, The surgeon just told me to be on my pre-op diet for 3 weeks prior to the surgery which officially starts Friday Nov. 14th. I unoffically have chose to start it on my own. Not quit as strict as I will be once on it but still 2 shakes a day (breakfast & lunch) with fruit snacks between meals and then dinner which I haven't restricted down yet. It is an exciting time and I am so ready to get the surgery done. Seems like I am counting every day. LOL

Hey Matt! Great to finally see another guy getting banded in December. I've got a Dec. 5th surgery date. When you get a chance get on over to the December support forum. I have it linked in my signature if that helps That's great that your wife will be getting banded shortly after you as well. Hopefully in the next year we'll be able to get my wife banded also. Just can't do it right now for both of us. Anyway welcome to the forums and welcome to the December group!

I have to say a big congrats to you with your success! That is a great milestone to reach and just goes to show how much you have been working your program and making your life better! Keep it up!

Yeah when I first read about the use of the heavy cream my first thought was to use half n half also or even milk.

Hiya dietpeach! I am actually doing pretty well on it. The last two weeks was just one meal a day on the liquid shakes. This week I started both Breakfast and lunch with liquid shakes and then I usually have a banana or an Atkins bar between meals for snack. dinner I still have not cut competely down to the LSD diet yet but I will be next Friday. I am not sure if I have lost on it but I actually do feel a bit better. I have had a couple of last meals/treats as well. Getting that out of the way before the offical start of the LSD. Like today I actually went out to lunch with a co-worker. I told him that we had this week and next. We usually would go out every Wednesday for lunch but he's also very supportive of what I am doing so he is completely understanding that I won't be able to after next week for a while. Anyway it's going well and I really think it's going to make the whole process a lot easier working into it. :biggrin:

Hi gnana- Go to www.tickerfactory.com then go through the steps to create your own "Weight Loss" ticker. At the end you will have the choice to "Get Code". At this point copy the bbCode. Then on this site on the upper right of the page go to the User CP link. This is the settings for you on this site. Hey Everyone, I'm here in Jupiter and will be banded on Dec. 5, 2008 in Tijuana, Mexico by Dr. Pedro Kuri. Really excited to get this done. I am looking for someone who will do my fills close to home but so far it sounds like the clinic in Weston is the closest. I checked with Dr. Vaughan's office at Jupiter Medical Center and they will not see Mexico patients. Rather disappointing since JMC is only about 5 minutes from the house.

Well there is a wide variety of reasons for the differences. First off is the surgeons themselves and how they feel about it or not. Secondly is each persons BMI. For example my sugeon is requiring me to do 3 weeks of the Liver Shrinking Diet because my BMI is over 50. Others of course would get less time and some may not even at all. On a side note I actually started the shakes in the morning a week ago. This week I started shakes for both morning and lunch. I want to make sure my liver is shrunk for my surgery. I have heard a few to many people talk about having to have their surgery delayed and rescheduled because they had not shrunk their liver enough. Not to mention I wanted to start getting used to eating differently. I mean really why should I wait to start working on living a better life? The more I can do to help myself now the easier the surgery will go, the faster the recovery process will be, and the sooner I can continue down this path to a better and thinner life. Oh and I am not officially on the diet until Nov. 14th.
