    Full Liquids

Well I thought I would try chili tonight. Blended it with an equal amount of beef broth to thin it out. It's pretty good actually. Amazing what you can come up with. LOL

    Full Liquids

What the docs orders are of course is making good food choices but for the full liquids he said that anything that you can suck through a straw is allowed during the full liquids. A couple of months ago I bought the bullet and so what I did was take 1 serving of clam chowder and 1 serving of milk and then pureed it smooth. This way I got a decent amount of protien yet still had something that tasted decent. I did this for dinner last night and lunch today. I am doing the Atkins shakes at breakfast with of course drinking plenty of water between meals.

Wife and I banded on Dec 8th

Congrats on the rappid weightloss! I haven't stepped on the scale yet since my banding. I am waiting for a week to pass by. Like you said because of Water weight it's to easy to step on the scale today and weigh and then step on it tomorrow and be heavier and then the next day again and then be lighter. So for me it's a once a week plan to weigh myself. Keep us up to date on how you two are doing! You will have to let us know what it's like doing the band together too!

    When do you start exercising?

If you really enjoy swimming you might be interested in deep Water aerobics. My aunt whom had this surgery 4 years ago swears by it. She went from a 26 to a 12 by working the band with diet and the deep water aerobics. You might just have to check into your local Y to see if they have them and if they will work for your schedule. Best of luck!

    When do you start exercising?

I was banded on Friday (12/5) and the docs instructions for me was to walk as soon as possible and then after a few weeks I could step up the exercise. You want to be very careful while your incisions are healing to not do anything to damage that process. So start walking and build up from there like HDSantoni said. Myself I have already started walking and plan in a month to start a more vigerous exercise program.

    Itching!

I was banded just last Friday 12/5 and have some itching too. Doesn't sound like as bad as yours but I just do a light scratch around the bandages but not on the actual incisions or bandages. It releaves it for a while and then a lite scratch again later.

    Anyone hungry yet?

That's great that you have the extra time to recover. Unfortunately we have a big push at work on a project that we have to have for our clients by Christmas. But that's ok too because I didn't have that much PTO left to use. How about any bowl movements? I know it's not the most pleasant thing to talk about but I have had like pure liquid and a couple of times pretty close to an immediate need to be in the bathroom. I wonder if it's something I drank. Only thing I have had so far is Water, juice, chicken broth, beef broth, and today an Atkins shake.

  12. Heya! Glad to know your doing ok with your surgery. I am sure that hunger will come back soon but really that is the whole reason for having the band is to help control our hunger. LOL It's great to meet another person who was banded the same day as I was. Best of luck and keep in touch!

    Anyone hungry yet?

Hi Mike and Teresa, Pre-Op day 4 here. Today is my first day with full liquids. I can have anything that can be sucked through a straw and I am in this phase until the 20th by my docs orders. Last night was the first time I have experienced any hunger feels since surgery and even then I have felt like I have had an upset stomach a lot of the time. I am suppose to get a minimum of 48 oz of water/liquid a day and I have found that to be rather easy. What's been really interesting to me is the amount of noises my stomach has been making. LOL I am back to work today but like you Mike, I have a desk job so working to hard isn't really any option for me.

    Surgery in Mexico?

Well let me guarentee you that I am not an Doctor or staff member of Dr. Kuri's. You can go to my profile and see my pictures. I am now at day 4 post op and am doing very well. It was a real pleasure getting my surgery from Dr. Kuri. By the way I have heard a lot of good compliments too about all the surgeons that work at Hospital Angeles. Lastly I have an aunt who went on the trip with me that had her surgery done by Dr. Kuri in Feb. 2005 in his old facility and she was really impressed with Hospital Angeles. She is the huge reason that I had chosen to use Dr. Kuri.

    Last thoughts before being banded.

When I was at Hospital Angeles in Tijuana I wrote a little blog on paper that morning that I wanted to share. My last thoughts before surgery..... Dec. 5th, 2008 - 4 am Just a few hours left before my surgery. I feel really good about it. The hospital is very clean. It reminds me a lot of Jupiter Medical Center back home. The staff have all been very nice and accommodating. Not very many of them speak English but there usually is someone around that does. I met with Dr. Peterson yesterday for my medical history and his exam. He was pleased with how small my live feels. First Goal Accomplished!!! So today is surgery. I am Dr. Kuri's first patient of the day. Then the three gals who came for surgery too. Everyone is just so nice. Saara and her friend Leisha are a lot of fun to be around and talk to. I met Saara on the forums. Judy, Saara, Leisha, and I all actually met at the airport and have shared this trip together. This should be exciting to see how things turn out in the long run. In the last few moments before surgery I have been thinking a lot about Karen and Nicholas. I love them both so much. I can't wait to get home to them so that I can really be the husband and the father that they deserve to have. They truly are the reason that I push forward with this and with this dedication. I know Karen worries that I will get thin and then no longer be attracted to her but that is just not so. She is my best friend. She is my lover. She is the best thing that God has given/put into my life in a long long time. She belongs in my life and deserves my love, dedication, devotion, and respect. I love you Karen with all my heart and sole. Today after my surgery they want us up and walking within 2 hours. I intend to do it too. I know that is one of the many keys to success for this. That specifically was why I started walking again just over a month ago. I really want to get to where I can go running again. I used to love running in the morning and hope to be there once again. Well my final weigh in yesterday morning was 442.2 lbs. Never again will I weigh this much. This I swear to you with my sole. BRING ON THE BAND!
