Who Do You Tell, or Who Don't You Tell????
I told my parents and that's all I'm telling (with strict instructions for them not to tell anyone else). It's no one's business but your own. Tell them you're working on getting healthier (the truth).

*long string of curse words* TriCare
^THIS^ is so true. When I explained to the guy in the TriCare office what was going on, he tried to tell me I was totally in the wrong until I pulled out my referral letters. Everything is straightened out now , but SAVE YOUR STUFF. Even that defunct referral letter for the doctor I couldn't use came in handy.

*long string of curse words* TriCare
They've done everything quickly. I don't know what their problem is now. Luckily, I still have the referral letters they've sent me (from the first doc they referred me to- which has the notes I took from when I called them on it- who didn't do GB'ing, the doc I'm going to now, and the psych referral). They're trying to say I don't have any of those referrals.

*long string of curse words* TriCare
I got a call from my PCM today telling me that TriCare had contacted her about my referral, saying I was supposed to be going to Walter Reed, not a private civilian doctor. WTF, TriCare? THEY referred me to the civilian doctor. I have the letters they've sent me (as does Dr Currie) and on mytricare.com, Dr Currie is listed as the doctor I'm referred to. GRRRRRR. I'm heading over there in the morning to get this straightened out. :wink2: I knew this was going too easily.

Are others in your family overweight/obese?
My mother's side, no. She nor pretty much anyone on her side of the family has never struggled with their weight at all, so she totally does NOT understand why I can't just be like her. But on my dad's side, yes. My dad is large and his mother was, too (and she died from complications of diabetes). And, I'm built just like all of them. I think genetics may have had a hand in my weight, but I'm to blame, too. At my thinnest I was 125-ish lbs, but I had to practically starve myself to get there.

Freaking out!!!! I need some help/advice please!!
Oh yeah, what Brandi said, too. :confused2:

Freaking out!!!! I need some help/advice please!!
It's probably stress. Periods are reknowned for being extremely early or fashionably late when we're stressed. if you're worried, call your doc.

Super excited!!!
 Awesome! I love Mastiffs. If we didn't live in such a small house, i would totally have one.

Tampons or Pads.
I have a Mirena- the plastic one with hormones in it. Hormones in BC pills always bothered me (and lets not even speak of Depo), but the Mirena has been a dream. I hardly ever have a period- and when I do, it lasts a day, maybe two, and is nothing more than spotting. If something happened to mine (expelled or whatnot), I'd totally do it again.

Tampons or Pads.
I have an IUD so I rarely get periods, but when I do, I use cloth pads- so much better for your body and the environment. My son was also cloth diapered.

Lap band tomorrow

Question about kids + surgery
I have a very active 3-year-old. My parents have offered to either take him for a week or so (I live in Maryland, they live in Florida) or my mother could come up for a week when I have my surgery. I'm not sure which to pick. I think my husband is taking time off, anyway, so I don't think I'd need her here, but I'm not sure if he's taking Wed (day of surgery) through Sat off or just Wed. If you have a toddler, which would you pick? :confused2:

Getting a realize band in Oct- a couple of questions
I'm getting a Realize band in Oct. What do people mean by "lower profile"? Is the port placed lower on the body? I know the port is attached to muscle rather than being stitched in. How do you find the online support program? From what I could tell, it looks a lot like weight watchers online (what with the with an avatar. I think that's it. If there's anything else I should know, feel free to throw it out there.

Anyone near Frederick/Hagerstown?
More specifically, does anyone attend the support group meeting at Robinwood in Hagerstown on the 3rd Weds?

Cigna Cobra ??
Cobra is verrrrrry expensive. I know when my dad switched jobs and my parents had to pay for Cigna Cobra for a few months, it was ~$1K/month.

What to do While Waiting
(sorry I posted to the wrong thread earlier!) Maybe read some books about surgery? I know the wait is probably killing you, but you can do something proactive whilst you wait.

I'm so excited!
I met with the doctor's office I was referred to by TriCare today and I was surprised to hear that they didn't have any requirements other than some paperwork (and obvs BMI/weight) for surgery. I asked the insurance lady to call and re-confirm with TriCare that they didn't have any requirements, too, so she did. They don't (again, other than the obvious weight/BMI stuff). I guess I got that psych referral for nothing, LOL. She sent me home with paperwork to fill out over the weekend and a 4-day food diary, which I'm to mail/fax back on Monday (too far to just drive it over unless I'm headed out that way anyway). She said I should have my surgery scheduled the last Wednesday in October if everything goes well. I'm so excited!:tt1: Oh, and they offer the Realize band, which I'm also happy about.
