What to do While Waiting

Well, all my stuff was submitted to my insurance on June 23.....or was it?...

I waited and waited and waited. My insurance is guarenteed (sp?) to respond within 21 days. At 31 days there was still no word sooooo, my surgeon's nurse phoned the insurance company and they claim to have no record of my info.

My nurse resubmitted a week ago and then called to confirm.

Now I wait again..................................

(sorry I posted to the wrong thread earlier!)

Maybe read some books about surgery? I know the wait is probably killing you, but you can do something proactive whilst you wait.

Just keep following up with both the insurance company and the doctor's office, and get names and dates! I fell into a crack of sorts and got lost in the shuffle of waiting for approval longer then you care to know. Stay on top of it!

On the up side, When I finally did got my band I was sooo happy with the results and it is worth the wait!

Patience my dear :) (and follow up <wink>)

Good-Luck to you

I'm in the wait too. I've met my criteria, and my insurance doesn't even prior approve this (medicare). Just waiting now.

I did and they approved me in 3 days. I called the doc's office the day they approved me and bugged them to call the insurance and have the approval letter faxed instead of waiting to get it in snail mail. Should here Monday of my surgery date which should be end of August of 1st week of September. I know it's an old cliche' but "squeaky wheel gets the grease". :-) I wouldn't wait around to hear from anyone, I used to work for an insurance company, I know how they drag their feet.

BTW, this is my first post in about a year! :-)

I was just approved like a week ago. I bugged the crap out of my insurance company I think I must have called them atleast every other day. Its true squeaky wheel gets the greese:thumbup:

I read too many horror stories of people thinking their paperwork was received by the insurance company and then they get the call that the IC never received anything or was missing a page or two. Anyway, I called my IC at least twice a day until I was approved. I kept asking if they received everything from my doctor. i was approved in 3 days.

Don't wait!!! Call the insurance company.

Just to add, I got my surgery date and it is next Wednesday (8/26)!! Gotta keep bugging them until they get you a date!! :cursing:

I was approved yesterday by insurance, but now I have to wait up to TWO WEEKS for the doctor to call and schedule an appointment. I don't even have his secretary's number to call and bug!

I'm considering doing a little internet stalking, finding the number, and calling....

I have been approved by my doctor and my insurance company and now i have to wait to get approve by psych before they give me my surgery date. Now I have to wait til November. My psych consult is November 3rd and it seems like its going to be forever.
