Tomorrow is the day for my much anticipated gastric bypass surgery. I am packing my bag and hoping I am not forgetting anything. Kaiser sent a letter telling me to bring very little, but I want to be comfortable :)

Anyone have any handy tips on what to forget at home and what to bring?

A ROBE!! I read it on a post somewhere and it was the best thing I brought. When walking the halls immediately after surgery you’re not just going around in your gown. Got a cheap one for $15 on Amazon and it was perfect. I lived in that for 3 days in the hospital. Besides that-phone charger, comfortable clothing to go home in (I wore home what I wore in), toothbrush. That’s it. You’re not going to use anything else. Best of luck!!

Hello, My name is Desire’e and I am new to the group. Just needing a little advice and hopefully a sense of encouragement. I am 7 weeks out from my revision surgery from gastric sleeve to gastric bypass. I have only lost 27 lbs so far, and I have followed the rules to the T!! Anyone else gone through this after a revision?

Desire I feel the same!! Yesterday was 6 weeks, I’m in a stall at 25 pounds and I know I shouldn’t compare but we’re humans and it’s what we do. I am following to a T as well and I’m seeing others at 6 weeks or less eating sooo much more or such different things than what I’m eating, nearly same starting weight, and losing much more. Right now I can’t have any fruits, veggies, carbs, etc. I keep hearing to eat more calories but I guess diet culture has taught me against that for so many years it’s a hard concept. I’m doubting myself a lot which I know I should be proud of 25 pounds but I get in my own head. You’re not alone, and now either am I and there’s some comfort in that so thank you!

I'm having some major issues with this too. I take Miralax in the mornings every day and 2 stool softeners every day and still NOTHING happens naturally unless every 3-4 days I go in and take a large laxative dose and/or a suppository. I'm worried this is going to be for the rest of my life and it's very depressing.

My fear as well! At first was worried I would be living on the toilet, now I’m concerned for the opposite

I think most insurance companies want you to go through a doctor approved weight loss program. I had to meet with a dietician every month for 6 months.

Yeah I completed the 3 months of nutrition counseling with the surgeons office, but now they’re requesting a year of documentation that I did work with my PCP on my weight loss. Provided them 10 years of receipts from WW, weight logs from yearly exams, etc to show the weight didn’t magically appear in the last week (apparently that can happen with a BMI over 40 😂😂) SMH lol

With FEP BCBS dis you have to submit proof of other weight loss programs that you have tried in the past and did not work?

Wondering if you ever got an answer to this? My doctors office called me today that my FEP BCBS is denying me because I submitted records of payment for WW and other programs but not something from a doctor showing that I had medical consultation for a year prior and that didn’t work. Feeling very frustrated and defeated right now. Thanks!
