    August surgery buddies!

Don't let that discouraged you, there could be a lot of reasons for that. I know my cause was sodium so I definitely try to be more aware of that. Sometimes I gotta have some broth with some in it though because if not I'm borderline caving. I'm 2 days away now so I'm more focused now that the start line is within reach. I know that the end of this phase of eating isn't ending Tuesday but it's a start of a beautiful new chapter that I am ready for. I'm definitely ready for the soft food stage I could kill for some cottage cheese honestly, haha.

    August surgery buddies!

I have. I'm down 8 lbs since starting it. First 6 days I was losing about .5-1 lb and then I started to stall out. I gained about 1 lb back in water weight within 3 days then started to see the scale drop again the other day. The scale going up was frustrating considering how few calories we are taking in but I knew what was causing It so didn't let it get to me too much. I know the point of it isn't to lose weight but it is a way of showing our liver is shrinking so I was stepping on the scale daily. I also have a scale that checks other things so it's nice to see those numbers move as well. Day of surgery I will step on the scale one last time for a while. Thanks for all the positive vibes. : )

    August surgery buddies!

My surgery is only 4 days away and these last few days have been soooooo rough mentally. I'm not hungry but I could cave to the temptations. 2 days ago was my birthday and My co-worker brought in my fav. cake. I grabbed a piece so she wouldn't question why I wasn't eating any and made my brother eat it for me. I picked up pasta last night for my daughter because I just didn't have the energy to cook and the smells were making me weak. I ended up going to bed early because I was so frustrated with myself. We're celebrating birthdays at work again today and we ordered pizza and pasta so I just stayed in my office to avoid as much as I could. I'm proud of myself for sticking to the preop 100% with no slips. But good lord I feel like I'm being tested to my max haha. I know it will all be worth it but I am ready for at least the soft food stage. I'm so bored with what I am able to have that it makes me not even want to eat it.

    August surgery buddies!

That's super kind of him! Some days I feel totally fine and 0 issues. Other days I feel like I could gnaw my arm off. I know I'm a raging b***h by the end of the day some days and usually by 7pm I could pass out I'm so exhausted.

    August surgery buddies!

I've started the pre op diet. I'm 8 days in and am borderline needing to take it. I've never really needed to take anything for those issues until the last 3 months and the one time I did I felt like I was dieing because it didn't sit with me well. 😒

    Pre Op Diet Concerns

Agreed! My doctor said the same as well, I'm taking a multi, calcium & B12(once a week) up until 2 days prior to surgery.

    August surgery buddies!

8?! Holy cow! Zoom is a great idea! I considered the delay in the birthday celebration, But I'm lucky enough I share a birthday with my dad and don't want to rain on his special day too. I'll be fine, I mostly joke that it's torture but I've figured out loopholes I'm still able to celebrate & stay 100% faithful to my pre-op diet. Just looks a little different this year, haha. I seriously dread the idea of having dumping syndrome. I've heard so many horror stories.

    August surgery buddies!

I'm scheduled for Aug. 2nd. My Birthday is next week and our state fair is a week and a half after surgery. So I 100% feel your pain there. I've decided I wasn't going to let that get to me though because I know it will all be worth it "sacrificing" all the delicious food for this next chapter of my life. My pre-teen daughter had a group of friends over this past weekend and decided to order in pizza, I made sure to order enough that they would eat every last bite and no leftovers sitting out. Cake is gonna look like sugar-free popsicles this year and as far as the state fair I think I'll be ok. I'm not really craving sweets or any "bad" food really... I'd honestly really like some grilled chicken or something other than what I'm continuously eating in the last week. This has been such a mind game. But thankfully I have my daughter to help me laugh it off and humor my way out of and food-loss depression I may have.

    Psych Eval Tomorrow - Nervous

Mine was about the same, I feel like half the time was spent in general conversation and nothing at all to do with what I was there for. She marked me off as right away not needing to see her again. I was a little surprised considering 6 months prior I was put on medication for anxiety and depression. I was really nervous that would throw up a huge red flag but it didn't.

Smoking and vaping play a factor into anesthesia and puts you at a higher risk for heart attacks, blood clots and pneumonia. I know it's frustrating but keep in mind they are only wanting what's in your best interest. It will get here before you know it! Sent from my SM-G991U using BariatricPal mobile app

  19. I'm not in your area but I have lost 80+ previously with Kayla Itsines 12 week body guide you can look up on Pinterest and easy-to-alter workouts to your needs. It was all at home and with very little equipment. She also has a sweat app (a $20 monthly subscription). I never used the meal guide just restricted my calories and I was in the best shape of my adult life I had ever been in. Most people feel like you have to join a gym to get the results you want. My ex-husband tried doing my workouts with me (initially laughed and was trying to get me to join his gym) and couldn't keep up. After he took back all the unkind words he had to say prior. I'm not saying gym memberships & trainers are a waste but sometimes they just aren't in the budget.

    Tracking Apps

I feel like MFP is easier to use. Baritasic was more in-depth which sometimes isn't a bad thing just more clicks to get to the same result. I also encountered a lot of issues with barcode scanning which became a little frustrating and ultimately was the reason why I went back to MFP.

Baritastic was what my doctor recommended, however, I use my fitness pal. Both are good, however, I'm a creature of habit and have used my fitness pal for about 10 years.

Fairlife became impossible to find near me. It got to the point I just order bulk through Amazon. I'm holding off on making any large orders until post-op considering I'm not sure If I will still enjoy it as much.
  24. The fairlife protein shakes taste like melted ice cream to me... def. my favorites. I also really enjoy the clear protein20 drinks (there are 2 options with 20g of protein and no caffeine).
  25. Are you allowed sugar free Jello, Popsicles or gum? Jello and Popsicles are considered part of my water intake through mine. Sugar free gum is getting me though the not being able to chew actually food. You may reach out to your medical team and see if any of it is approved. It's not much but it's something to help keep your sanity. Sent from my SM-G991U using BariatricPal mobile app
