Maybe she shouldn't have had all her fill removed. Part of it may have been fine. The band does not do all of the work for you, have to make the right choices in your new diet, exercise, etc.

TLCEdge Self Pay: How long from consult to surgery?
magaines replied to binab's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I was self pay also. My consult was mid May, they wanted to schedule surgery about 3 weeks, out but I waited until the first of July. I had to pay at least 2 weeks from surgery date. -
Wow good for you. I was scared the first time I went too. I go for my 4th fill in Oct. I am hopeing that I get a good fill. So far not much restriction, and I am also hungry ALL THE TIME. Wasn't it a strange feeling when the needle is removed. Good luck and let us know how you are doing.

Usually when you are hired you have a period to wait until the health insurance would kick in. Where I work, there is no waiting period we are covered from day one if we opt in. If we opt out we have to wait until open enrollment, which is a month before our company renews its policy. I would check with the HR dept. to see if they were mistaken about the enrollment procedures. Were you given an option of being insured or not? If they have health insurance coverage it should have been offered to you. Maybe you opted out without knowing.

What kind of scale do you use, and where did you get it? All I find are cheap junk ones. -
I survived surgery
magaines replied to thin within's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't really worry a lot about the surgery. But when it came time for my first fill, I don't know why, was scared to death, the nurse and the Dr. could both see it when I walked in. It turned out to be nothing, a quick poke and they were in, when they remove the needle it is the strangest feelings ever tho', doesn't hurt just strange. -

Congratulations to both of you. It does get better. Everyday when I woke up I felt better than the day before. Now I'm just hungry most of the time with trying to get the fill at the right spot. -
I had surgery on a Thursday, went back to work on Tuesday. I probably should have stayed home a couple more days. I wasn't all that sore but was extremely tired by the end of the day.

Cancelled fill appointmets
magaines replied to Jeter2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WOW!! What a mess. I would contact the Dr. office and insist that they either refund the insurance co for not providing the previous services or set up the next (is it two or three) appointments that they missed or screwed up on without charging to the insurance co.n then start looking for a new fill Dr. If they don't I would contact the insurance co. Good Luck! -
Sorry to hear that you had so much trouble. Hope you are feeling better SOON! How did the Dr know that your port was detached?
-
Thanks! Good Luck next Thursday, let us know how it goes.

I have heard that some people have had this problem. Is this something that the surgeon takes care of or do you need to go thru insurance or self pay again? When do you have the procedure? Good Luck!!!!!!!!!

My doc had me on an atkins type diet for the week before my surgery to make sure there wasn't fatty liver problems. He said to eat a lot of protein, and stay away from the carbs, rice, potatoes, bread, etc. I tried several protein shakes then too to see which ones I preferred.

Congratulations. I'm sure by now you are out of surgery, possibly on your way home by now. Prayers are with you.

Dr. K prescribed an antibiotic, pain meds, and for preop he had me buy a wash solution to wash with for a few days and also suggested a laxative. I picked up the meds at the pharmacy in his building, (I was also self pay) it cost about $54. -

I received an email from Dr K office listing the dates and times for their support group meetings, but of course I must have deleted it. Is there one Oct 2? Thanks for the help:embaressed_smile:
