That's why they call it a support board!!!! I have to go home this weekend and throw away the animal crackers. I like them for a snack, but its time to remove them from my house. Janelle glad it went so well for you. A fill of 4cc is a lot. Just take it easy as these little fills can sneak up on you! OK my Junebies we are back on track. Areas of this board have gone crazy lately, but we remain strong. We might have to limit our involvement within the June thread until the maddness goes away.

Melissa sounds like you are doing great. Hitting that sweet spot is what its all about. Being able to enjoy a variety of foods is also a goal. After all, that's how the lapband was sold to a lot of us. If you are losing and not PBing, then that is the goal. I also think that restriction comes and goes depending on what's happening - TOM, stress, foods from the day before, water retention, atomospheric pressures, etc. Each day is a new one and brings different situations. What you can eat one day, you can't the next. Someone once said this band is "fickled" and they were right. For the question about the golf ball - its a feeling in your chest like something is stuck. Its a heavy feeling that hits in your esphogus and can last a few minutes to hours. It is also the feeling right before a PB if it goes that route. When you get it you should stop eating immediately. Wait to see if it goes away. If it does you might be able to eat some more, but if it continues you don't want to eat. Sometimes a sip of water will bring it up and others say it helps to flush it down. Again, different for everyone. We must learn to eat slow so we get the signals in time before we PB. Doesn't always work, but it helps. I am going to keep going with the fill I have and see if I continue to lose. I think I could be slightly tighter, but don't want to overdo it. For now I think I'll leave it alone.

OK guys we need to have a talk. Overfills can cause damage, from reflux, esphogus sensititivity, to slippage. Excessive PBing is not good for us. Also, we must get in enough protein and other nutrients to feed our bodies and to lose weight. If you have an overfill, run don't walk, to your doctor. If your doctor is in Mexico you might have to visit the ER to see if they can help. Suggestions that I have seen are drink something warm to open the stoma, sip on a protein drink in the morning. Anything that we put in should be good for us. Goldfish does not fall into that category. It should not be in our houses. If you are living on soups and protein drinks, you are overfilled. The amount of food we can eat is individual. I have been struggling with this one as well. I hear all these stories about 2-3 bites and I'm full. Not me. However, as long as I'm eating the right things and losing, the fill must be right for me. We are wanting too much too soon. The object is to eat food, the right food, and lose weight by eating smaller quantities. That doesn't mean that for me a 1/4 cup is right for you. I don't mean to come off as an authority. I'm not. However, we need, all of us, to be a little more proactive in this journey. We know our bodies and the band must live with us. It is a tool, but it shouldn't be causing so much discomfort and pain. If it is, something is not right. OK gang a long weekend is coming up. Let's rid our kitchens of toxic foods. I don't care of they bring us comfort - if they are not protein and vegetable, they've got to go. Let's stay away from foods we know we should not eat - bread, rice, pasta. Let's get with the program so our bands can work for us. I love my Junebie friends and I want the best for all of us. Let's get our acts together and go kick some fat! (rah, rah, rah!!!)

    Bring back Lisa Bones....

Why do we insist on keeping the pot stirred? Let's let this die down and restore peace on this board. We have lots of new members and they don't understand what is going on. Most of us don't understand, even when we have watched it play out. I enjoy this board and it has and is very helpful to me in this journey I am taking with the lapband. I would hope this site continues to be a source of information and a safe place to bear our hearts when needed.

    Fiber Anyone?

I had a terrible problem the first 8 weeks. This was the opposite problem I've had all my life so a new experience for me. It was so bad I had to have an enema. Next time I tried Milk of magnesia. Several days of that. I am eating Activia every day and back on food. That seems to be helping. I have problems when I have to go on liquids and mushies after fills. I also increased my Water intake which is also helping. Benefiber didn't seem to do it for me. Good luck

    2006 Christmas Wish List

My goal is to weigh 200 by Christmas. We are going on a cruise and I want some new clothes to party in! That will put me halfway to my goal of 150 by June 2007.

    anyone had knee surgery?

I had knee surgery in July of 1996. I had torn all of the tendons in my knee. They also told me I would probably have to have a knee replacement, but to go as long as I could. The recovery was fast, i.e., could get around, but it took a good year or two to be pain free. It was really a slow process for me. One thing that was bad is they gave me antiinflamtory meds. That caused me to have 6 polups in my stomach which was removed a year later. It was no fun.

I don't like the new jeans either or the pants without belt loops. What's up with that? I like a more tailored look and I can't stand the pants without belt loops. I like what used to be called Dockers. I get my pants from www.landsend.com . I can get traditional cut pants. Also try Denim and Company offered by QVC.com They make a nice jean. I am wearing pants today that I haven't had on in 2 years. I am so excited that finally I am seeing some changes.

    Tortillas?

I've been too scared to try tortillias alone. I can have the chips, I can eat enchillatas, but like Paul I just do the eggs w/cheese and salsa. I am afraid of bread of any kind and in any form so I don't know if I can eat it or not.

Oh where oh where have my Junebies gone. Oh where oh where can they be? Today was my weigh-in day. I lost almost 3 lbs from my fill last Wednesday. :clap2: As long as I'm losing I'm happy. Hope everyone is busy having fun!

    Hot dogs?

The question gets to how comfortable are you eating out? I was nervous the first times I ate out. I chose easy to eat foods rather than anything that may be "difficult". I do eat hot dogs, but I cut them up to eraser size. No bread. I love them, but I'm real careful with them. Maybe you should chose something that would be easier to eat so early. Even nachos would be easier as you could eat the cheese and beans off of the chip. Or how about chilli. I would just be really careful. Why push it and ruin your trip?

WOW seems like we all are experiencing things from clothes to golf balls. I get them sometimes, but it can go either way. The first time was after my first fill and then a PB. Definitely no fun. Once or twice after that it was just eating too fast or drinking too much water at a time. I throw my arms up in the air and this seems to work. I am able to eat scrambled eggs just fine. Of course, I put lots of chili con queso on them! I'm just not sure about this fill. I think I actually could have more. I'm going to go another week before I do anything. Leaving town on 9/27 so don't want to be away and get into trouble. I could get a fill the week of the 11th and still have time to react if I need to. I think my problem is I don't know the difference between hungry and head hungry. Hope everyone is doing OK. Looks like quite a few are losing weight and at the right rate. Its a slow process, but we all are making progress.

    Open vs Closet Bander Questions

I only told a few friends and my DH. Not because I was ashamed, but because I didn't want to report to everyone how I was doing etc. I wanted time to adjust to the band. Saturday I went to a gathering in clothes I hadn't worn in 2 years. Everyone stopped me and commented on how great I looked. I told them what I had done. I think everyone was surprised, but supportive. One wants all the information as she has been wanting to do it. Its funny. I've told strangers, but not my inner circle. Its nice its out, but hope they don't keep calling looking for results. Its a very personal decision. I am glad of the way I did it. It gave me time to get used to all of the changes.

Glad to get back online. I guess the site has been down for a couple of days. I am doing pretty good with my fill, but still think I can eat too much. I am trying to stay on program, but it difficult. I had 2 eggs, hash browns, and 1 strip of bacon for breakfast. That was at 10 when we went out with friends. I was able to eat all that, but stayed full most of the day. I have drank 4 bottles of water. We'll be eating dinner soon. The total for the day isn't bad, its just too much at one meal. I went shopping in my closet yesterday. I was able to wear a few things I haven't been able to wear in 2 years. Everyone at the luncheon noticed so I finally told them. I just hadn't let anyone know what I did. It was a nice acceptance and no judgements. I wanted to get over the first part before others knew. I also went shopping at the store, but I'm just in between sizes. I decided to wait a little while and try again. Its too early in Houston to wear fall clothes. It's still too hot. Hope you do well with your fill Janelle. Most doctors say have liquids the day of the fill. I wouldn't worry about getting all your protein in on the day you fly. Just try to stay hydrated. Some people swell after a fill and you might experience that on your return flight. I think you were going and coming in the same day so be extra careful. Hope everyone is doing well and had a great weekend. They are always too short.

That is some weight loss - 60 lbs. I am so happy for you. I can't wait to shop in the regular sizes. I'm hoping at Christmas I can do that. I have a trip at end of September and then the cruise at Christmas. I hope by the time the cruise comes around I will be in regular sizes. That is definitely my Christmas wish for myself. All in all, I think all of the Junebies are doing well. I know we get impatient, but when you take our weight loss over all the weeks, most are doing great if not fantastic. Have a great day and weekend!

Anyone Have Mucas But No PB's?

When I went for my fill on Wednesday they were talking about this very issue. They said to drink something warm to break up the mucus and to open the stomach opening. They also said to avoid cold things and dairy products. I guess dairy products build mucus? Sinus drainage can also cause problems. Hope you get better soon.

Day 3 of my fill. So far so good. We just need to be careful. Remember it was day 6 for me last time and PB on soup. You just never know with these fickled bands. I'm really into the water. I get most of my water in at work and I can really swig it back. Don't have restriction for that! Hope everyone has a great weekend. I'm off to a Horizon of Hope luncheon tomorrow (breast cancer fund raiser). I always enjoy visiting with my friends and giving to a good cause. I am a Longaberger basket collector and they make baskets each year for the Susan B. Korman fund. I am also going to do a little shopping. I have to find a few things to wear to work that aren't too big. Nice to have that problem.

Not sure why they have different requirrments. Spiegel its 3 days liquid and 3 days mushies. I had some refried beans and queso tonight. I was hungry, but didn't eat much. Spiegel doesn't let us have oatmeal or powder protein either. He says it clogs the band. Spivak I think puts you on a pre diet? Spiegel does not. Go figure. Your better not reading all the drama, except if you like a good laugh. It was really something. They did the same thing a couple of months ago. Most of them took a breather from LBT, but all came back this week and the war began. Its silly, but some can't help themselves.

Kim, did you mean .5? Do you have a Vanguard band that holds 10 cc? That was a large fill it was really 5cc. Hope it goes well for you. I have been hungry today. Its my 2nd day of liquids. I might have a thicker soup for dinner tonight and see if I can get rid of the hunger. I don't want to push it as these fills can sneak up on you. Its never easy is it? Hope all is doing well. It seems that all the drama from yesterday's threads is settling down. Some are such drama queens and get so wild. I think 4 threads got locked last night. Does the band make them do it? I think not.

Need Help with What to Wear!

The black dress is just perfect. It is fresh and sassy, yet business appropriate. That dress will take you anywhere in the spectrum of dress that you will probably see.

Good morning Junebies! Hope this finds everyone well and in control. Poodles that is really interesting with the reverse open/close. It must have to do with the swelling of your stomach as a result of your TOM. Watch it as it might reverse back once that is over. Oh, and you are not the only weird one. Maybe just in that area, but we're all weird somehow. Still too early to tell how this fill went. I got real tired yesterday and last evening ran a slight temperature, and got cold. Seems like that is the pattern for me after a fill. I went to bed early and everything is fine this morning. Can't wait to get on mushies to see if I have any restriction. Stress can definitely play a role in how our bands will be. We must learn to listen to the signals and back off of food if the stress gets too much. I've had to do this before the band so it won't be a completely new behavior for me. My goal is to stay stress free and I've been doing a pretty good job of that lately. I still try to put just what I should eat on my plate and no more. That way, I can't overeat. However, I really don't know how much we should eat. Everyone is different and has different stomach sizes. We need to get over all this and try to get to some kind of normalcy. We are obsessing over the "band' just like we did with food. I don't want this to be my universe. I want to be "normal", whatever that is. :drum: Have a good one!

SOTC thread...Why NOT to post when your angry

This thread is getting no where. I understand where the frustration is coming from that started this thread. If you read some of the ones from yesterday you would understand. She is NOT God bashing. You have to understand what was said to understand it. Or maybe you shouldn't read them. They were pretty awful. Ok, the venting is over now. Let's get back to the business of living with the band.

Labor Day Gift Exchange Thank You Thread

THe package for Texas was mine! I got a beautiful Chicken Soup for Girlfriends book and a wonderfully funny calendar mouse pad of Maxine for 2007. As a project manager this will come in handy. I'm all about dates! Thank you princes n' theb for my wonderful gifts. Now what was the chance that this Texas gal would get another Texas gal? And she lives not far from my Humble home. Its coming, its coming, its almost Spring. OK, enough hints.
  25. I have watched and read the "other" threads. I see some new threads today and fear that its starting all over again. I certainly hope not. I did enjoy the entertainment, but it does deter from the purpose of this forum. This is a great place to get support and discuss other issues that effect us. Its a fun place. I hope it remains that way. I think the moderators do a fine job, although hard, to keep control.
