    Dry Heaving....Eww :(

How soon after your last fill did this start? You might be over filled. Sounds like you are having PBs without anything coming up. I get that too when I'm over filled.

    Time Between Fills

Being one that doesn't react to fills until 6-10 days later I offer a word of caution. Give your body a chance to react to the fill before you decide that its not enough. This last one I only got .3. On the 11th day I PBed on a piece of scrambled egg. That had been a safe food for me. If after 2-3 weeks you are so hungry and your will power is wanning, then call for a fill. If you are not losing and can eat a whole chicken breast, then my doctor says come for a fill. Being over filled is worse than being under filled. I can use my will power when no restriction is being experienced, but nothing helps when I can't swallow a sip of Water when overfilled. Also, I can eat lots after 6 days from a fill before the whammy sets in. Each of us is different, but I think that is why they want us to wait. I've also heard, no proof to this, that our ports are only made to withstand a certain # of fills. I don't know how true this is so take it for what it is, a rumor.

Down to the onesies with a hot man!

WOW you are fantastic. You have done a wonderful job with y our weight loss. Having a hotie is a bonus!!!! Enjoy life and all that it brings.
  4. If you don't trust him then forget it. You have to depend on him and his services for quite a while. Remember, that even with a competent surgeon, complications can happen. Erosion and slippage are not caused by the surgeon in general. Sometimes it just happens. You have to be prepared for that. I would suggest you find a way to make additional income. Perhaps that is extra hours, taking a second job, or finding something you can do from home part time. I know this puts extra burden on your son, but maybe you can find something. You might exchange babysitting time with another mother in similiar circumstances. You might want to see what other doctors somewhere take your insurance. Sounds like it is paid for if you can find the right doctor. Good luck to you.

    Hi ya'll...from TX of course!

Welcome all you Texans. Hope all of your journeys will be happy ones. I love my band, even when I have a few problems. It's definitely a tool and not the entire answer. You have to work with it. Good luck and welcome.

    Divorce

He should not assume that he is getting the house. You should not be allowing him to think that. I would move back to the bedroom and reinstall your things. Period. He needs to move out until things are settled. The hotel is a perfect solution and will not cause him hardship. The court would see it that way as well. Remember your daughter is 14 and they love their father's at that age. Father's can do nothing wrong. I wouldn't try to do anything about that relationship. If he is spending time with her, for whatever reason, let him. That's not bad. Maybe, just maybe, the divorce is his wake up call. If not, you will be there to pick up the pieces, but you can't "warn" her. That would not be fair to her. She wouldn't listen anyway. I would remove discreetly remove anything you want to keep and afraid he would destroy. I would open another bank account and start socking money away. Have the statements sent to the office or get a post office box. You might need that stash if things get tough. I would also consider a slight unfill if you continue to throw up. Stress plays havoc on the band and you can't constantly be throwing up. You need to be able to find some calm in your life. The best way to do that is to get him out of the house until the divorce is settled. Your lawyer can get that done. Hang in there. Enjoy your weekend. Pamper yourself.

    June 2006 Band Crew

This whole scenario is different than ones I've had before. First, I'm able to recover from it and go on. In the past I haven't been able to recover. Last night I had 2 bites and then wham. I never PB so that is good. Today, I seem to be OK. I'm taking it cautious, but so far so good. Others are tight in the morning so I'm confused. I don't think I'm too tight because I can eat and eat when things are working. I'm wondering if I just have some irritation and certain foods don't do well. However, please explain why chili con queso and tortillia chips go down, but a small piece of meatloaf will not. Pinkylee I think you are onto something about stress. Last night I was already sitting down to dinner when my DH sat down from fixing his plate. We were talking and he mistook something I said about the back yard. He doesn't raise his voice to me, but last night he did sorta. He was frustrated and misunderstood why I was asking about the trash can in our backyard. It was right after that I got the golf ball. I think I just got stressed and wham it hit. Later I was able to get some ice cream down and a little chili con queso. I've noticed when I'm nervous about eating (restaurant, party, different food) that I don't do well. Most of the time I just stop because I'm so nervous before anything happens. I'm going to watch the stress and see if that triggers my reactions. Good news continues and I didn't gain back the weight I lost over the weekend. Like Pinkylee says, claim it. I did!!! Today is a new day. Let's see what we do with it. Have a great one!

I got aloe vera juice at walmart in the drug area. I came home and drank some and threw it up. I've been a little afraid to try it again. Monday I was able to eat again. Today I seemed OK, but tried to eat dinner and whamo. I stopped eating before any PBs. I did have a few burbs. Later I was able to eat ice cream. Go figure. All of this is a new experience for me. I've read how the rest suffer with this, but never had it since banding. So now I'm not sure what is going on. Do I have restriction or am I still sore from this weekend? Am I going to be one that now suffers from the unpredictability of the band? Am I overfilled, but just a litle? I guess time will tell. If I don't PB anymore I'll just go with this for now. I'm trying to be careful what I eat, but after not eating for 4 days I was getting hungry. Tonight was the first meal that was something different from soup. I only had 2 bites before the golf ball. Oh well this isn't as bad as others have suffered through. Chin up barbara and march onward.

    HELP...Many doctors, no answers???

Although I don't have reflux anymore I do run a fever after a fill. I sometimes do so after an unfill, but always after a fill. It takes about 1 hour and then wham, fever, chills, and a very tired feeling. A few hours on the couch with a blanket and socks on my feet seems to cure it. Although this is not a reflux issue per se, I wonder if it has something in common with the symptoms offered in the thread.

Ghost Whisperer - Who watches it?

Just love those kitchen windows!!!!!!!!!!!!! The house is absolutely charming. I love the show so it will be a treat to see your house featured on one of the episodes. The opportunity to make money on your beautiful home is an added benefit.

Glad to say I got home safe and sound. I left town at 3:15 so I got home before downtown flooding. I think the worse is over now. My neighborhood is just fine. Also happy to report that I opened up and was able to eat today. I got in a boost, 50 oz of water, 1/2 c of soup, and 4 peanut butter crackers. I also had refried beans and chili con queso for dinner. I'm so happy this reversed itself and I didn't have to go for an unfill. Maybe I can continue on an even keel the rest of the week.

    June 2006 Band Crew

Well my friends I had a PB sticking weekend!!!!! The only good news is that I seemed to recover between episodes and it didn't hurt as long as I did with other over fills. Friday night I was able to eat refried beans and chili con queso, but Saturday nothing. I had about 1/4 c of soup both Saturday and Sunday. Not much water. I had more PBs than ever before. Today I was able to get down a boost. I am now sipping water. I went to work today in a terrible rain storm. I figured it wasn't a good day to try going to the surgicenter for an unfill. Now maybe I won't have to. If I can recover from this I will try to keep going. I sipped Aloe Vera juice on Sunday, but it made me PB. I'll try again when I get home to see if it helps. I lost 3 lbs and I'm claiming them. They are not going to come back. My hair continues to fall out. I can run my hand through my hair and see all the strands gathered on my hand. No one can tell, but I know. Hopefully this will stop soon. I feel some are getting discouraged. I hope not. We must continue to fight this fight. It was never going to be easy. We've got to keep going. I ordered some clothes that arrived on Saturday. I bought smaller sizes and some I didn't expect to get into yet. I was surprised that I could wear two pair of slacks already. I didn't do well on the October challenge since Friday. I haven't even had 1 bottle of water from Friday until today. I am going to try to get my water in today so I don't dehydrate. Hang in there everybody. We can do this. Its just not going to be easy.

    June 2006 Band Crew

So I got to work this morning at 7:00 am. I thought I would go get a scrambled egg and 1 piece of crisp bacon. I got 3 bites of the egg and whamo. Golf ball. After many PBs and sliming I decided to go home. I caught a bus at 9:15. I had a paper cup with me and some paper towels. I sat in the back and had a few more episodes. By around noon this was over and I started feeling better. I was able to have some soup and tonight some refried beans. This was a shock, but it was a relief that I recovered. This is 3rd time this has happened to me after my fills. However, this time I was able to recover. So I don't think I'm too filled, but maybe ate too fast. I'll watch it from now on. Dawn good to hear from you, but sorry to hear you're not doing well. Take into consideration the cost of food when you decide on the fill. Maybe the cost savings will be enough to let you get a fill. It's a shame to have the band and not get some restriction. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

I think we need to think of fills a little different. I had this same question from another friend. She needs a fill, but wasn't sure how much to get. She was looking at how much they took out and at what level she had been overfilled. I think it is the amount of the fill you get, not the total, that plays a role in this. For instance, I now know I can't tolerate a big fill. I don't think its the amount of fill in my band that's the problem. I think I have to take it in baby steps. This time I got .3 which is still less than my overfill. My next fill of .3 will take me over the amount that caused me trouble. Still following my logic? Once you feel that the fill is not enough go for another one. Go in slower incremements. I'm going to do that. On Tuesday if I haven't lost, my weigh in day, I'll cal for a fill. If I'm losing, I'll go another week, etc. I don't care how much you have lost since the last fill, the fact that you've lost 72 lbs is awesome. !!!! I'm just a little green, but I'm happy for you.

Reginia, I would say that you've lost so much weight that the band is just floating around there real loose. OK I'm the color of the font!!!!!!!!!!! Just look at what you have done!!!!!!!! You might have to get more of a fill to make the band tighter. Seriously, the band is not going around as big a organ as before.

HELP!!!! I have lunch in one hour!!!!

You won't cheat because the pain will be too much to bear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Eat the mashed potatoes as that is a mushie. Move the rest of the food around, but don't eat it. String beans will probably be hard to eat as well. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO yeast roll. Butter for the roll would be considered a mushie. You can do this.

I didn't buy any Halloween candy. I have a cute Longaberger basket that is for candy corn. I just didn't buy the candy corn to put in it. It looks strange to me, but I know I would eat it. Having no small children in the house allows me to turn off the lights on Halloween night and just ignore. We live on a busy street so I didn't get any last year. So no excuse for me to go out and buy candy. Now for the port issue. I just told DH last night that I think eventually my band will have to come out. Why? I have tremendous scar tissue around the band. I can feel the band and it is hard. I didn't think you were supposed to feel the band, but I know that is what it is. It is just below my breasts and in the right spot. I also can feel my port and the scar tissue around it. When I went in for a fill they thought the port had turned. It hadn't and once she felt around she found it. I do get twinges and burning feeling around it during the day. I've just grown accustom to it so I don't worry about it. I also have a great deal of scar tissue around it. I have felt the bulge of the band since day 1. I've mentioned it to everyone that will listen, including both of the PAs at the surgicenter. My PCP is the one who told me it definitely was my stomach and the band. I find myself rubbing the area, especially after I eat. It seems to get harder after I have a meal. The changes I'm finding are on the scale and the mirror. I definitely have a thinner face and one less chin. I am finding that clothes are fitting differently and the sizes are getting smaller. I've taken a chance and ordered some work clothes in smaller sizes. I may not be able to wear them day one, but soon. I still think I can eat too much. DH thinks I can eat too much as well. However, if I continue to lose I'm not going to do anything. If I stop its off to the surgicenter for a fill. Glad to see everyone posting again. It gets lonely on here sometimes when you all go away.

    Hyopthyroidism....LapBand questions....

I was already heavy when my thyroid stopped working. The synthroid was supposed to help me lose weight. NOT. I just kept gaining. I also have a bad knee so exercise is touchy. I still take thyroid after my lapband surgery and have it my dosage checked regularly. I do Water aerobics and walking and that is much kinder to my body. This is a decision you need to make. Some insurance compainies don't require all the proof that you have tried many weight loss programs. Just fill out the documentation and give it a try. This is a major committment and life change so don't do it just because your insurance will pay for it and diet plans are expensive. Good luck to you.

    My leaky update

Sorry to hear that you have to go through another procedure. What is your recourse if it is a defect or fill needle? Does the manufacturer or the doctor pay for the procedure? I don't recall that being something I signed off on as to their liability. However, probably did as nothing is free. Let us know how you are doing.

Six Flags Has Nothing on Me!

Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Glad it finally sunk in what a great weight loss you are having. Glad you can fly. Now I still think its insane to strap in and let the bottom fall out, or ride in some basket high above the ground. I'll reserve mine to Disney World and a ride that never leaves the ground. Continued good luck.

My Nightmare at the ER in Atlanta, GA.

First I would call your insurance company and have they NOT PAY for emergency services at either institution. I would then write a letter to each hospital administrator and tell them why they better submit a bill to your insurance or to you. I would also consult a lawyer about sending a letter or file suit for the treatment you received. This is just not acceptable. A simple unfill would have been enough to give you some relief while seeking help in Costa Rica. This just makes my blood boil. I also think a well placed letter in the local paper or TV station would also be appropriate. Did your PCP not know how to do an unfill? I have heard that the needle to do this is longer than usual, but that would have been helpful as well. You should not have been allowed to suffer like this.

Hey Cindy good to hear from you. I'm not going to make the Christmas challenge either, but I like it as a goal! My hair loss continues, but a slower rate. I went and had my hair highlighted and cut Saturday. I asked her if she saw that my hair was falling out. She said no. Mine isn't as much as yours from your post, but still a little distressing. I have stepped up my protein and make sure I take the multivitamin. I had been slacking off on the vitamins. I visit the other site as well, but still love my Junebies thread the best. I come here for my daily support and inspiration. I started a June thread over there, but as you know, not much action. Your weight loss is great. Keep up the good work.

    Divorce

He's a desperate man doing whatever he can to have someone listen to his side. You will just have to remain strong. Unfortunately, it will get worse before it gets better. You really need to get him out of the house so you don't have to endure the day to day drama. Again, even if he gets the house in the end he needs to leave now. I'm sure he is working on the kids as well. He is looking for sympathy and placing blame. Each day will be a drama. How you handle it will speak volumes on your character. Stay strong. This do will pass ....

OK sounds like we are turning a corner here. We are getting along better and some are losing. Let's keep it up. I think my doctor recommends 800/calories a day. I think that is a little low for some. If we are losing and feeling good, then that whatever calorie level gets us there is OK. I do worry about those under 600. Not sure that is enough. Last night DH and I went for a walk in the rain. It was more than a drizzle, but less than a downpour. It was actually fun as I had to keep the tempo up so I could get out of that damn rain! It was also a good time for us to "talk" and just enjoy being with each other. We did it as soon as I got home from work and before dinner. Talking about dinner we decided to have breakfast. He made the eggs and bacon and I made pumpkin waffles. We haven't had waffles since I was banded. I did eat 1/2 of a waffle, very slowly. I had no trouble getting it down. Now that is as close to bread as I'm come. I do think I could probably eat anything, but fear still keeps me honest. I've updated my signature to show my 3 lb loss. Its good to see the scale moving downward. I still think I can eat too much and might go in for a slight fill in the next couple weeks. We'll see. Hope everyone gets on the mend soon. We need to start feeling good and in good shape as we move into the holiday season.
