    No jewelry AT ALL?

They probably will allow it. They may tape over it.

Rush Limbaugh has crossed the line

Yes they could be that big of a creep. This is the same man that said all people who abuse drugs should be put in jail. However, it was different when he got caught. He got off for not only abusing drugs, but forging a doctor's signature on drugs and stealing them from others. Someday he will get his. In the meantime, we need to ignore this idiot. Don't put more money in his pocket by listening to his shows. I also agree that more will be done for Parkinson's now that he attacked Michael J. Fox.

What's going on with my fill?

It most likely will take several fills before you feel restriction. My advice is to wait a couple of weeks before you schedule the next fill. Make sure you can and are eating too much. My fills hit me late 6-15 days after. Give your stomach a chance to adapt to the new size. I also don't advocate aggressive fills. When they put a lot in at any given fill, I noticed more have trouble. We all want to get to that wonderful level of restriction fast, but slow and steady will probably do you better.

    Too much fill? Can't decide

First, some people don't feel the effects of a fill for days or weeks after it. I usually react to a fill 6-15 days afterwards. Second, most go on liquids for a few days and then mushies after a fill. Each doctor is different, but rarely do they recommend solid food right away. Third, if you are not able to drink liquids and/or PB all the time, I would think you are over filled. Fourth, waiting until your stomach gets "looser" before deciding to get an unfill is not wise. Permanent damage can be done if you suffer through PBing, reflux, sliming, etc. for days. Fifth, everyone is different and your reaction to fills might also be different. Best advice is given by your doctor. Most would agree that being overfilled is not good.

    Oprah

Maybe values was the wrong word. What I was trying to say is if you are an alcoholic you don't surround yourself with alcoholics. If you are a former drug user you don't surround yourself with drug users. If you are a binge eater, you don't surround yourself with binge eaters. Not that you wouldn't try to help others or that you would feel superior to others. That's not what I meant. I meant that in order to be healthy (from the addiction) you have to change your behavior and that can mean the people you associate with.

    Oprah

Can we say MEOW. Stop picking on poor Oprah. Most of us will be preening around once we lose our weight. If you want to pick her apart, most days she doesn't dress that great. Some of those outfits on the road trip should have been burned. I do like her hair, but I've never liked her taste in clothes, fat, thin, or average. She has always been positive about her weight and her journey. She has tried to lose and failed just as many times, all in the public eye. She replaced her addiction with food with exercise. I think she could relate yesterday to the addictions. When you are trying to get "healthy" you surround yourself with people of like mind. You don't continue to associate with people that don't have the same "values". I really don't think her money has anything to do with her values. She remembers being poor and enjoys her wealth. Wouldn't you?

Oprah Today: Weight Loss and Obsessions

I taped the show and watched in last night. I don't think it was WLS that made our personalities addictive types. I don't think Oprah was implying that. I have seen people that had drug addictions turn to exercise, usually in extreme. They told me they got the same type of rush they got from drugs. Interesting when you see how many overweight people turn to exercise, excessive exercise, instead of food. Mine is collecting. I love my Christmas collections and I just keep buying and buying. I also love clothes and buy more than I need. My opinion is that it all goes hand in hand. We have compulsive addictive personalities to begin with. Take away food and we have to replace those feelings we got with food with something else. Makes me more determined to work on my head issues since that's what will make me more successful in my weight loss program.

Holiday Craze (committed to healty eating)

I'll join you. I have been staying away from the coffee bar and the candy dishes. It's just too easy to eat one piece and then another etc. I bring my breakfast/lunch from home just about every day so I'm not tempted to eat something not on my plan for the day. Maybe we can buy blinders like they put on horses. :girl_hug:
  9. It shouldn't hurt. It is a long needle, but just a pin prick. It's not a big deal. Just don't eat before for 4 hours or stay on liquids. Most of the doctors require that and don't drink cold liquids right before. Good luck.

    Hey Everyone

Do a search on fills to find out what to do for successful ones. There is good advice like don't eat 4 hours before, liquids only, no cold liquids, etc. The process for most is painless. I have had about 6 or 7 with fills and unfills. It is over in about 2 minutes. For some reason I get chills and fever about 1 hour afterwards that lasts for about 4 hours. Not many have those kind of side effects so don't let that bother you.

    Band limitations.

Not sure exactly what you are asking. I'm not sure how you can have 5 cc in a 4cc band so I think the size of band is incorrect or amount of saline. I also have all my fills/unfills done under fluro. I've been over filled 3 times so filling until they see restriction doesn't work for all. SOme of us don't feel the fill until days afterwards. I'm from the school of slow and steady. I think moderate fills are the way to go. You might need more to get to the sweet spot, but overfills are not good. The stomach needs time to get used to be restricted.
  12. I agree with its probably gone down. The "acid" from the pill probably irritated your stomach and that's what you are feeling. Give it some time. If you can you might want to drink a little milk or eat some yogurt. THis might help ease the inflamation. I wouldn't worry as long as you can eat and drink. Just try to remember next time to crush those pills!

Official Halloween Exchange Thank You Thread

I received my box yesterday. I'm not sure who it is from. We got several boxes that day and my DH opened everything. He thought it was the mark robert's ornaments and fairies he ordered. Anyway I got 4 black bags full of goodies. I received a very unique hand massager, massage oils, a scruber, two halloween picks, and a bale of hay. I immediately put the picks and bale of hay with my halloween display. Received a great collection of colored leaves that also fit nicely with my display. Thank you, thank you, whoever you are. My gifts are great.

    June 2006 Band Crew

Good to hear from everyone. Sounds like most have turned a corner and progressing well. Pants are definitely getting longer - belly doesn't hold them up anymore!! I'm looking forward to moving down another size hopefully in a few weeks. I ordered my bathing suits for December cruise. I didn't know what size to order. I did my best, but now think maybe they will be too big. I'll see when they get here how big/small they are. I don't think I can lose more than 15 lbs by Christmas. I definitely need to step up the exercise. I'm just not doing anything positive about that. I bought the walking tapes that are still in shrink wrap. Meeting PinkyLee and Barbara 12 for lunch today. This will be so much fun. Anyone else in downtown Houston at noon meet at Ninfa's at the Park stores.

    Divorce

You've got to get yourself in a better place. You can't fight this battle if you are run down, depressed, stressed to the max, and sleep deprived. Please find ways to cope with this. Do you have any friends that can lend you a bed for a few hours? It would be nice if you could leave one evening after your daughter is asleep and go sleep at a friend's. A night of peaceful sleep will do wonders. I, of course would cook a wonderful meal using all of the labeled food. After all your daughter has to eat! Stress can cause the scale to move in the wrong direction. Don't worry about it. The weight gain is not real and will be reflected soon. Meet with your lawyer and campaign to get him moved temporarily. That is your best option. Once removed, change the locks so you can rest peacefully.

    Yay for me!

That is such a cool NSV!!!!!!!!!! I was waiting for some other outcome. You had me going there for a minute. That is so neat.

Is this "Normal" Diet for After a Fill ?

My doctor has us do 3 days of liquids, 3 days of mushies, and then regular food. My fill kicks in 6-15 days later. I have had all my fills/unfills under fluro. I get chills and run a fever about 1 hour after a fill and it lasts 3-6 hours. Everyone is different. It does no harm to be cautious. I am so glad that I was still on mushies when I reacted to my fill. It was better than having had a full meal and then PBing. Most doctors don't want you to eat the day of a fill or at the most liquids. There is a good post on this site about what to do to have successful fill experiences. Bottom Line: follow your doctor's orders.

    Too much fill? Can't decide

Being over filled is not good. After a fill most go on liquids, mushies, and then solids for a few days. Each doctor is different. Mine is 3 days of liquids and 3 days of mushies. My fills don't kick in until 6-15 days after a fill. If you are PBing and can't drink Water then you need a unfill. This doesn't have to mean you start gaining weight. It just means that you are too filled. Allowing yourself to stay in this state is unhealthy. Some believe that with enough weightloss the fill will become tollerable and don't get an unfill. I'm not sure I buy-in to that logic. If I can't recover from a PB within a day or two, can't drink water, or keep liquids down, I'm getting a unfill. If I can keep water down and liquids after a PB then I'll give myself time to heal. That is, I go immediately onto liquids and give everything a chance to heal. This is nothing to fool around with as you can do more damage than good.
  19. Why would you even try those foods? Everything you mentioned is really not good with the band. Restriction comes with fills, but you need to start eating like a bandster now. It doesn't sound like you have made any of the behavior changes necessary. This can lead to real problems down the road. Another thing to remember is that the doctor didn't want your stomach so full after surgery. Moving from liquids, to mushies, to solids was not a engraved invitation to eat everything. Sorry if this sounds harsh, but you need to get with the program. There will be plenty of challenges without starting so early to sabbotage your program.
  20. Have you looked at the cruise lots are going on in June? It sails from Galveston. You might not get as much participation as you want since there is another event so close to yours.
  21. Welcome Kevin. I hope you have a great journey. Surprised that you are already thinking of a fill. I had my 1st one at 4 weeks and thought that was agressive! Again welcome.

Ice Cream is the devil!!! I have been indulging in a blue bell ice cream cone at night. Just one dip, but still. I was not able to eat last week so I thought I was entittled. Anyway, we went to grocery store yesterday and I went by the ice cream section. I stood there and looked and looked. I finally thought to myself that if I took it home with me I would eat it. I walked away from the aisle and felt really good. I'm trying not to bring things in the house that I know I want to eat. It's OK Barbara 12. Chalk it up and move onward. We can't take back our yesterdays.

    can you eat popcorn????

I read about all of the people on here that could eat it so I thought I would try those 100 calorie packs. I popped one and took one bite. The popcorn was dry, but I chewed it to mulch. I was so scared that I did not enjoy it. Although it did not get stuck I decided the fear of getting stuck was not worth eating that popcorn.
  24. barbara465

    This happening to you?

I have had 4 fills and 2-3 unfills. This is the first time I have felt restriction of any kind. I was hungry after surgery and only through my will power have I stopped eating. Now all of a sudden, 15 days after the last fill, I am no longer hungry. Bottom Line: it just takes time.

    The Band Does Not Work.....

The idea of all of this is to feel full with very little food. To do that you must chew, chew, chew. The food will be small enough to pass at some point to the larger stomach where the stomach acids will start the digestion process. The upper stomach (pouch) has the nerve endings that signal to the brain it is full. By eating slowly the brain has an opportunity to receive the signal and you can stop eating. Drinking liquids while eating pushes the food down faster and may prevent you from receiving the full signal. Or you may not feel as full as long because the food is going to the stomach faster. That's why when you are in the liquid stage you may always feel hungry. Eating hard Proteins, like meat, cheese, etc. instead of Soup and mushies help keep you full longer. That's how the band is supposed to work. Good luck on your journey.
