Poodles, It is so good to hear from you. Hope you are enjoying your new house. That is a lot of stress moving so don't beat yourself up on losing weight. It will come. The 26th starts a brand new involvement with the band for you. Just relax until then and don't stress. On the 26th recomit and get busy. Its nice that the band will wait for us to be ready to proceed. You should be able to eat meat so not sure what's going on there. You may have to try very tender cuts and load with nonfat gravy. Don't eat lots of it at any one meal, but maybe an 1 oz and work your way up. Melissa hopefully "it" didn't get on you and you will be fine. Keep some of that hand wash with you and wash hands constantly. I'm taking that onboard ship with me so hopefully we won't come down with some crud on the ship. I tried on size 18 pants this morning. I need to lose about 3-5 lbs to get in them. One pair I could wear, but very, very tight. I won't believe I've lost weight until I can get in those pants. I have 3 pair waiting for me. Two brand new tops I bought for the cruise are two big. They are sweater types so can only wear them tucked in. I seemed to be back to normal. Not hungry in the mornings, but can eat lunch and dinner with no problems. I'm still on semi mushies, but will be moving off of that tonight. I'm having dinner with two friends that haven't seen me since the lapband. This should be fun. PinkyLee have you tried to upload the pictures again? If you can't send them to me and I'll do it for you.

He's probably gay. He would be good eye candy, maybe even clean the house, but that's about all. :girl_hug:

Look up CODA - codependents annoymous. It is a 12 step program. It covers the issues you mentioned. Working the program might help you find the root to the problem. Good luck

Lap Band with M.S. or Fibormyalisha (sp?)
barbara465 replied to KittyBoozie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have fibromalgia and chronic fatigue. I have been helped tremendously. I am sleeping better and in less pain than before. In fact, I don't take my pain medicine before bed since surgery. I was worried about my immune system and whether I could recover quickly from the surgery. I was answering work emails the same day as surgery and worked from home for a few days. Then I was right back in the office and never stopped. It was great. I recovered faster than I could have hoped. I think it can do nothing but help once you start losing weight. Good luck. -
In pain for last 6 hours and counting
barbara465 replied to jsagiha's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sounds like you might need a slight unfill. My fills kick in 6-10 days after a fill and then sometimes even later. I can't seem to recover from them once I start PBing. Sounds like you are going through what I do when overfilled. If you continue today go immediately for an unfill. There is no sense suffering and possibly doing damage. Let us know. -

When getting fills remember not to eat solids that day. Stay on liquids. Every doctor is different, but mine requires 3 days of liquids and 3 days of mushies after a fill. You want to ease back into solids. For some of us fills don't kick in for 6-10 days. Keep that in mind. You should return to solids when your doc says you can. That's when you will be able to tell if you have restriction. Also, one day you can be wide open, the next tight as a drum. Its very unpredictable. Why not arrange to meet on Monday in January at 5 at the Humble cafe? That would be a great start to our support group and the new year. -
OK in photobucket use the one that says for URL link. When you select the picture and put your cursor over that line it will say "copied". Now go to your message and do CTRL V and it will copy it. That should work. Let me know if it doesn't. 24 hours later and I feel great. I'm still hungry, but I'm taking it easy after the last few days. I have gone to mushies as I don't see any reason to stay on liquids. I just wonder why I can't recover from these things. Also they make you feel so stupid and say you just irritated your esphogus, but as soon as they take some out I'm better. I would think my throat would still be inflamed if that was the issue. Crazy, crazy, band. I will have to exercise some tough self control now on the cruise. I'm sure I'll enjoy more food than I should. Oh well, its tough being banded. :girl_hug:

What were the chances you would get me Sally Jo? I am so thrilled with my presents. I received a beautiful silver charm bracelet. In attention to the heart charm there is a special charm that is engraved Lap Band 2006. How cool is that? I also received a small package with scented candle, and popouri with a refil of scent. I'm so sorry you got moved before we could have lunch/dinner again. I'm glad you are in your retirement town and ready for the next chapter. Have a great holiday and thank you again for the lovely presents.

Glad to hear your OK. I was beginning to worry. He is still playing mind games and the least said to him the better. I wouldn't discuss too much with him and certainly no details. I also wouldn't say too much more to the kids. You've told them what's happening and now its not for them to have to live with day by day. Let them be kids and keep the adult divorce items away from them if possible. If he continues to block this website then you should do something about that. Is the computer the family's, his, or yours? He is probably reading what we all post and just doesn't let you access from the home computer. How sad to be so childish. I hope you are taking care of yourself. Remember, the best you can give your children is your time. You don't need money for that. Enjoy your time with them. Hope things get a little better for you.

I sympathize with you. Look at my history and you'll see why. I just got back getting an unfill from a fill that didn't even bring me back to where I was before all the leaking. For me, it is the amount of fill at any one time. It hits me about 6-10 days after a fill. I can't recover from the PBs and this time threw up from 2:00 pm on Saturday until about 2 am. It started again after a few sips of Water on Sunday. Its not good to let these things keep going for long. After 2 days, it always happens over a weekend or long holiday, I was waitng for them at the fill center this morning. I can now sip water and had some broth. No pain, so I think the worse is over for me. Go slow and feel better.

I work downtown during the day. I can meet at 5:00 pm or later during the weekdays. I like early Saturday morning for breakfast as well. -
Dilation, Fill Questions and Story So Far...
barbara465 replied to NeenBand's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would say a fill is in order. Fills are so iffy for me so I now go about them with great respect. I can only tolerate small fills so getting to restriction is a long road for me. I can eat too much most of the time. -
Well last night I could still not drink warm water or keep a sip of a protein drink down. That started another 2 hours of Pbing and sliming. I got up this morning and tried to have a sip of warm water. It still wasn't good. I went to the surgicenter and got a .3 unfill. The barium was going through, but I've seen that before when I'm in trouble. We leave on Saturday and I didn't want to take a chance of not getting this taken care of. I'll just start over in January and see where I'm at. I did lose another 4 lbs since 12/5 so I'm losing weight. I had a major PB episode on 12/11 and was on liquids and mushies until 12/15 when we had Mexican. It was still mushies so nothing really solid. I didn't eat enough really on Saturday to cause this episode. I barely took a bite of anything. I think that when I lost saline to 1.4 and doc put in 2.0 of omnipaque that was in effect a .6 fill. My stomach can't tolerate those fills, even if the total amount in the band is less than before. I'm sipping some hot broth now. Its a little better and I'm sure by the end of the week I should be fine. I guess I'll be able to eat too much on the cruise, but I will try to be real careful. I just couldn't ruin my vacation and the others travelling with me.

OK guys what the hell is happening. Friday night DH and I go out to dinner. Mexican of course. I can eat and have a margarita. I ate chips, queso, and a chaupla. I ate to full and stopped, but it was lots. The next day I'm tight, but manage to get a egg in for breakfast. Off I go to a brunch with friends. I have 1/2 c of coffee and then 1 1/2 hours later I eat 1 bite of brocolli casserole and 1 bite of something else and stop. I start to feel the golf ball. She had a capacciuno trifle and I had 2 teaspoons of that. I threw that up about 15 minutes later. I haven't stopped. That went on most of the night after starting around 2:00 pm. I got up this morning and had two sips of water. It took me 2 hours to settle back down from that foaming etc. I don't know why I'm so restricted, but I don't like this. I guess if this doesn't go away I'll go in tomorrow and get a unfill. Certainly don't want to be like this on the trip. I don't recover from these PB episodes. For me it just keeps going. I hate this. Good news is I guess I'll fit into new bathing suit for the cruise.

Going on my first date in a very longggg time need some support....
barbara465 replied to apinksoprano's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Glad it went well. Just remain cautious until you get to know him. Now find some others to date as well. Might as well play the field. :welldone2: -
Would you go on a date with someone who didn't ask you out until you lost weight?
barbara465 replied to ser123's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
The way the questions were asked is different than the scenario described. It sounds like this guy likes you, but isn't attracted to you. That is two very different things and doesn't talk to his character. There are many reasons why we are not attracted to others, weight being one of them. He sounds like he is a good date, an interesting person, and one that you could remain friends with. I wouldn't count on anything being romantic. If I knew someone who was not attracted to me heavy, didn't pay any attention to me, then I wouldn't be interested in them necessarily if they paid attention to me after I lost weight. However, if I was married to someone, gained weight or lost weight, I would expect them to still love me. However, they might not be attracted to me anymore. There is a difference. You know some always use the excuse of their weight, but I remember a husband/wife where the husband got real upset with his wife when she lost weight. He was attracted to her heavy. Go figure. -
You can see the fairies a little better in these.

Here's pictures of 3 of our trees. You can't see the detail very well. One is a Radko glass ornament tree, one is Mark Robert's Fairies, and one is red and white whimsy.

This is how I spent the last month:

Foggy here in Houston today. We needed Santa and his sled to guide us to work! Went shopping in my closet last night. Found lots of nice evening wear for the cruise. I forgot I had some in smaller sizes. :welldone2: I think I'm ready in that department. I also can get in my new fresh produce outfits. They actually fit, which I'm not used to. I buy things a little big so this is different for me. I won't be able to gain weight on the cruise or I will find myself instantly with nothing to wear. I think for the first time I do feel restriction, but not anything like most of you experience. I am getting full which is something new to me, but I can eat more than most of you. If I lose I won't complain. I've got pictures of my trees so I'll get them resized and post them.

All of my fills and unfills use fluro. However, all but 2 of my sticks, have been without the aid of the camera attachment. That is, with one stick they were able to access my port. The fluro was used to check that the barium was flowing properly. Two times the PA was unsure of where the needed was and used the camera to locate the port exactly. Never have I had more than one stick. My barium flows through me and indicates on the fluro that I'm wide open. However, experience has taught me that is not a good indicator for me. For some reason I'm unable to tolerate large fills and must limit them to around .3. So, just because the fluro shows you wide open and everyone is tempted to put in more, evaluate the total fill for that day before deciding. Some of us are late swellers and don't get restriction for days later.

When I get a fill it is at least 6-10 days before I feel anything, even when I'm overfilled. My doctor wants us on 3days of liquids and 3 days of mushies after a fill. Not all doctors are that strict. As long as you are able to get food in, liquids down, and not PBing, frothing, or severe acid reflux, you are probably OK. When any of the above happen for a day or so then that usually means you are overfilled. It sounds like you are OK, but might have rushed into solids a bit soon after a fill. Take it easy and venture slowly back to full eating. After each fill you might find that foods that were once safe are now not. That is not uncommon. Good luck on your journey.

I think everyone is doing terrific. Whether we lose consistenly, in spurts, inches, it doesn't matter. The fact that we are moving along this journey in a forward direction is positive enough for me. It never occured to me that I had lost 26 lbs since putting out my Christmas Goal. Thanks reginia for pointing that out to me. Now I feel like I've made some real progress! Each day is a new day and with it comes a new awareness of what I'm actually accomplishing. I am feeling really good about what I've done and look forward to future successes. I watched the first part of The Big Lossers, but fell asleep (:grouphug:) the second hour. What duration of time does the program cover? Some of those people lost way over 100 lbs. If you tell me 6 months I'm gonna be depressed.
-
Congratulations Reginia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is terrific. And look at you below the goal and with 12 more days to go! Your right there are several real close. Let's start seeing those progress reports. I'm 26 lbs from my Christmas goal, but its OK. I still feel good about what I've done. It was an agressive goal and I'll get there in February.
