  1. LanaJane I sent you the link in a PM. Let's forget about the nutrionist at the Health store BetsyJane. We didn't hold a lot of hope, but it was worth a try. I would still like to find a yoga class that meets at night. Let's see what we find before committing to 24 hour. I'm into Curves now and that's working for me. Although I would like to do water aerobics.
  2. Sorry to hear about the rice. I've not had a delayed reaction before. That is something new. Do you do that often? For me, its immediate. Enjoyed the chat tonight. Its good to hear other's tell about their journey. Let me know about Saturday. It might be good to at least hear what they have to say. I'll post the website tomorrow for the formal wear. I have it at work.

    Countdown to Onederland!

I've got 12 lbs to go. It seems I've been here a long time. Fills, unfills have made me crazy the last few months. I might have to get there by good old fashioned dieting!!!!
  4. Welcome Mommy to 2. Glad you will be joining us sooon in lapband land. It was the best decision I made for myself. Hope all goes well for you and you get accepted. Join us when you can. I know its difficult with 2 little ones.

    Houston Twelve Oaks Hospital

I got up from the bed in recovery and went and did the barium swallow. It isn't bad and I didn't need pain meds. In fact, I never took anything even when I went home. I would rather them do a swallow then and make sure the band is operating properly then to have complications once I got home. Relax, you are now banded. Just go with it. Good luck on your journey.

WOW I can't believe how sick you got!! I'm so glad you are feeling better. Maybe try some liquid vitamins for a while and see if you can build your system back up. I understand the 80 lb loss being enough. We are 10 months into this and at some point you just get tired. Tired of all the attention the band gets!!! Hopefully we have learned to be kind to ourselves without resorting to food. I have found time to work out, get facials, get massages, and always get my nails done. That is how I take care of myself without food. It doesn't cost anymore than a eating session with the wrong foods!! I'm glad most of you are on the mend. Take care of yourselves. Pamper yourselves. Go for those unfills if it will make your life better and allow you to eat the right foods. It seems the last few weeks most of the board has been in some type of trauma. Let's take a few moments to reflect on our accomplishments. Let's vow to take care of ourselves first so we can do what we need to do for others. Take a deep breathe Junebies. It's our time. Love you gals. Big hug to all.

    Dr. Spiegels fills

I had another fill from him and before I could say anything he put in .4. He was running an hour late and I think he decided that everyone that day was getting .4. He must have had the needles in his pocket. Anyway 6 days later I couldn't swallow my own salivia. It happened on a Sunday so Monday I called the surgicenter. They took me right away. They had to take .5 out because I was so swollen. At .3 the barrium wouldn't go down at all. I still feel some restriction so we'll see how this goes. I'm not going back to him. If the surgicenter can't do it then I guess I'll go somewhere else. I can only take a .2 or .3 fill at any one time. I'm almost through with the fills as I'm not sure I can take anymore of them.

    Waiting for Under 200....

I have 12 lbs to go. I've been up and down at this mark and I'm ready to go for it. I go to Curves just about every night. Just had to have an unfill of .5 so I think I might have to do this will sheer will power. We can do this. I hear onederland is a wonderful place to be.
  10. Dick and I went there for dinner tonight. I had shrimp in a mango sauce. Dick had bean and beef in curry sauce. Both were good. Shrimp was in a sweet/sour sauce so it was good. Not hot at all. I even had a little bit of fried rice. Yum.

Glad you are on the mend Reginia. Back from Curves. Feeling pretty good. I have some kind of restriction so we'll see. So far so good after the unfill. I'm back to almost regular food. I just couldn't do that liquid/mushie routin for 6 days!

Join my club. We'll call ourselves the Sensitive Fill gals!! I'm convinced now that is is not the amount in your band, but the amount of the fill you get at any one time. If you try again go for just .3 and work your way back up. I had .5 taken out so that leaves me with 1.9 . Back to where I started - .1. I knew that doctor was crazy when he put in .4. Janelle is there somewhere you could get a barium swallow? That might tell you whether you have slipped or just having trouble. You might try Fill USA to see if they would take you. It might be worth it if you can't make the trip to Dr. Ortiz. Try liquids for 3 days. If that doesn't start easy the problems I would say they go much deeper. It might not be a slip, but you might just be so irritated that you need to get some out. I was shocked when they took out .3 did the barium swallow and nothing moved. Only after they took out .5 did things move. This system is funny and its hard to tell what's going on.
  14. Looks like they made some changes to the site. I'm OK with going a different night to get some thai food. Maybe the guys will go with us and we can just talk and visit. Of course, we don't have to take the guys. It seems like we are the main 4 so if someone wants to join us they can join us at the Thai place. I also want to try the new barbeque place. I'm feeling much better today. My energy is back and I went back to curves. I'm still full from lunch and I didn't eat that much. I'm probably a tad swollen, but we'll see. Dr. Spiegel doesn't know what happened because I didn't even bother with him. I knew the surgiccenter would help me and his hours wouldn't allow me to go as an emergency. I'm just going to use the surgicenter from now on. If they give me a problem I'll switch to their doctor there. I'm not sure I'll go for anymore fills for a while.
  15. I was fine on Saturday. I was on liquids going to mushies. On Sunday I had a bite of eggbeaters. That's all she wrote. I PB for hours. I thought I was stable and went to get my nails done. On the way I popped a breath mint in my mouth. Big mistake. I PB 4 times in the nail salon. When I got home still more. I took a sip of warm water at 7 and it started all over again. This was the worse. Monday same thing so off I went to surgicenter.
  16. I'll give it a try. Dick loves thai food. I don't know what's good, but you can guide us. Do you want to try it for our next meeting in 2 weeks? I went for an emergency unfill on Monday. They had to take .5 out before the barium would go down. I was a mess, but its over now. I just can't believe I was so restricted that they had to take that much out. Hope everyone is on the mend now.

Sorry to hear all the bad news. I have my own to add. I PB from 9 yesterday until 10 last night. Then a sip of water a couple hours after being up led to another bout. I went and they had to take out .5. They tried only taking .3, but still nothing was going down. I think I'm through with fills for a while. It will have to be by shear willpower. Hope all goes well with surgery tomorrow. Socal hope you mend from the accident.

I think the sinus situation is adding to your problems. The doctor here said people have more mucus in the morning so they can't eat. Maybe its a combination of things for you - sinus, fill, morning, altitude. I had a bad episode today. It started with one tiny bite of breakfast after being up for several hours. I have just now stopped gurgling and its 2 in the afternoon. I am so hungry. I will try some water and see if I can keep it down. I hope I'm not headed for an unfill.

Paying $325.00 per fill, too much?

They bill my insurance $600 for each fill, whether I get fluro with it or not. That is just ridiculous. My doctor made me pay $80 for my part last time, the time before that $50. When I went to the surgicenter, and they do fluro each time, I only had to pay $20. This seems like such a rip off to me. Cash patients are free for a year, but insured patients are really paying. I hope I don't have to go as often soon.

I have only experienced that once and it led to an unfill. Most doctors say that the stomach or something swells during sleep and you can't eat in the mornings. However, they say you can have a protein drink. As you are up the swelling goes down and you can eat more as the day goes on. For some this is normal. The real question is can you live that way. Do you get all your protein and water in? When you say you can't get liquds down does that mean you are PBing? That part wouldn't be good. Are you having sinus problems? If you are open enough to get your nutrients in then go for it. We are all so close that maybe we have to tough it out. I still don't believe in being over tight so much that you PB all the time. However, if you can avoid that and can get your protein in then maybe not. You will have to weigh all the options. I'm doing OK. I haven't had any major issues, but I know my band doesn't like the first bites of anything cold. If I wait it out 15-20 minutes then I'm OK. No PBs so that is a good thing. Its cold here in Houston. As the day went on it got colder. The newscaster I heard this morning said it was going to be 67. I don't think it ever made it to that today.

Sorry to hear the new Reginia. I read that most lapband patients will have to have their gall bladder out evidentialy. I guess it goes hand and hand. Makes you want to tell them just take it out at the get go so we don't have to go through this. Let us know when. Sending positive thoughts your way. Let's not mess around if you think you're too tight. Too many negative things can happen. So far so good for me. I'm coming up to my dangerous time after a fill and of course its a weekend.

Melissa glad you're moved, sorry about your ankle. I hope it heals soon and you get back on your feet. Don't worry about the scales. You are probably better off leaving them hidden. Maybe you will have a pleasant surprise when at last you weigh. Keep in touch and let us know how things are going for you and your Dad.

Hey just go for an unfill. Just have them take out .2 or .3. You should immediately see a difference. In the future only get .2 or .3. That's all I usually get. THis time he gave me .4 before I could say anything. I am noticing a difference, but I'm still on liquids. I have gurgled twice on liquids, but its gone away after about 15 minutes. Hope everyone else is doing well.
