My surgery is Friday and I'm trying to get organized & ready for post-op. What are some must haves or anything I must do to make the first few days easier?

When I quit smoking my husband tried to hide his smoking from me at 1st and I told him not to because I had to learn that his choices cant effect me. Psychologically I have to seperate myself from what others do. He sits on the couch next to me and eats m&m's and twinkies, popcorn etc. I'll have this breif relapse and want to eat just one kernel or m&m but have to reel myself in and come back to reality. Its a mindset that is going to have to work to save my life and im going to have to stick to if this lifestyle/journey is going to work for me. 🥂 To overcoming our cravings and being bad ass! LOL.
Congrats on realizing that you have to figure this out on your own. My bf is very supportive but is resistant to eating anything healthy that I suggest for him. He's 6'6 and probably 275 but he's got a gut that looks like he's trying to shoplift a frozen turkey under his shirt! We don't live together but do spend weekends together so it's been hard to stick to the pre-op diet when we're together. I'm super proud of myself--this past weekend I cooked him supper and Breakfast and only had a little bit of the veg and a small porkchop and a shake for breakfast. Then we went to the races and he drank beer and ate a huge bag of popcorn...I had to bottles of Water. My surgery is on Friday so I don't have much longer before it's GO time! We got this!

I went for my initial visit in March and have a surgery date for June 17. I have BCBS and they required 3 consecutive months of appointments before surgery could be scheduled. My surgeon's office scheduled everything: sleep apnea at home test & consult, nutritionist, blood work, psych eval and EKG. I also had to meet with a dietitian but my surgery had already been scheduled so it was pointless.

Thank you so much for the info. It's so good to hear that you are feeling so great so soon after surgery. Reading how crappy people sometimes feel was beginning to make me a little nervous. Best wishes on the rest of your recovery and on your new life!
