Sounds like the gallbladder. I hope you get some answers! -
Gastric Bypass Incision Leaking
Jeanniebug replied to dIsLosingIt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One of my incisions was draining too. It was fine. Call the doctor, just to make sure. -
I was able to hit all my hydration goals, from the first night in the hospital. I've never had any restriction when it comes to liquids. Be happy, it means that you won't get dehydrated - a major cause of complications for us.

Food Portions - 6mos post op
Jeanniebug replied to cookiecutter's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I wasn't given any guidance for this specific point... Just that between the time I'm on solid food up until forever, I'd be going up to about 8oz of food. I'm not there yet and I'm about 7 months post op. I've found that some days I have more restriction than other days. And some foods - like meat - I can eat less of, in one sitting. I still wait to drink until 30 minutes after I'm done eating - or longer. And if I eat too fast, I tend to hurt. But, I don't eat as slowly as I probably should. I mostly measure out my food and I do not go back for seconds. I try to be really mindful of how full I'm feeling and I stop as soon as I think I might be starting to get full. Overeating is (thankfully!) still painful for me. I eat from little 8oz bowls and salad plates. -
Yeah, I think it's just the robotic ones that are in a mostly-straight line. I'm pretty sure that if you have the surgery done laparoscopically, the scars are kind of scattered around your abdomen. We're in, like, a special club. LOL!

No longer “OBESE”, small goal reached
Jeanniebug replied to Fred in Pa's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I remember when I hit the "overweight" category. I nearly cried. Keep up the great work! -
You're fine. Lots of people GAIN weight immediately after surgery. IF the scale is making you crazy, stay off of it.

Does this make sense? Q about insurance and my doctor.
Jeanniebug replied to Mercury.Belle's topic in Insurance & Financing
I think it's interesting that you will be meeting with the Dietician before meeting with the surgeon. I'd go ahead and do it however the clinic wants it done. If the Dietician usually sends it, then let her. -
Agreed. I had something not long ago (when I was 6-months out) - for the life of me I don't remember what it was, a headache or something. Tylenol wasn't helping. I asked my surgeon if I could take ibuprofen. I was advised that I could take one dose and I had to take omeprozole with it. Thankfully, it did the trick! But, yeah, they were really leery about letting me take the ibu.

What was the moment/day you decided on WLS?
Jeanniebug replied to longhaul68's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think that the straw that broke the camel's back, was not being able to get into ketosis, despite fasting and eating very low carb for three weeks straight. I figured that my metabolism was broken at that point. I was diabetic, had high cholesterol, and my blood pressure was slowing creeping up. Desperate times call for desperate measures. -
Yes, I think a coach could be helpful. I know there are a lot of people who go to foreign countries to have surgery and they have no professional support when they get home. Personally, I have a pretty great bariatric team, so I already have a coach. But, I can definitely see where other people would find that kind of service useful. You're probably going to need to go to school.

Welcome! You look great!

Welcome! Chew and spit is a technique that many people have used to get through their cravings. As long as you aren't swallowing it, you should be fine. You'll want to be really careful that you aren't swallowing any of it, though. So, you might want to rinse out your mouth, afterward.

5days post op- Help with symptoms: normal
Jeanniebug replied to NikkiRose89's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It took about 2-3 weeks before I could lay on my side. It'll get better, hang in there. -
Yes, it's quite common. Take your Tylenol.

I wasn't able to wear a bra for a few months. The ones I wore had to be way too big, because I couldn't handle anything putting pressure on my diaphragm. It still bothers me, but it's getting much better. It's really only been in the last month or so that I've been able to wear bras that fit properly. Oddly enough, in some brands I'm now a C and in others I think I might be a B.

TMI problem, vomiting and diarrhea
Jeanniebug replied to Cguen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did they do a CT scan? With the fast heart rate, they really should be checking you for a pulmonary embolism. Not being able to keep down water, with diarrhea and vomiting, it is definitely concerning and may point to a blockage or stricture. I agree with @catwoman7, you might want to get back to the ER. Of note, I had diarrhea the ENTIRE time I was on liquids - so I'm not surprised there. But, I only had vomiting for a day or two after surgery. -

Loose Skin Concerns* Please help if you have experience
Jeanniebug replied to Loot's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Collagen is very healing after surgery and good for you, in general. So, even if it doesn't help with the skin, it would still be good to take after surgery. -
Loose Skin Concerns* Please help if you have experience
Jeanniebug replied to Loot's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think loose skin comes down more to genetics than anything else. That said, I started taking a collagen supplement several months before my surgery. I still have some loose skin. But, I'm 52-years old and I'm sure that has something to do with it. Some people have it and some people don't. *shrug* -
If it wasn't the right thing to do, your doctor wouldn't've allowed it. Remember your reasons for wanting the surgery. Life can be kind of hard for the first couple/few months after surgery. Thankfully, the time went pretty quickly for me. You're tired, you're sore, your body is freaking out and super stressed. This too shall pass. It might pass like a kidney stone, but it WILL pass.

Welcome to the forum! I would suggest you get in touch with your surgeon's office. Suddenly starting to vomit after eating is not normal.

Welcome! You just have to make yourself drink. Carry a water bottle with you everywhere you go. Drink like it's your job - because it is.
