Candigrl1 got a reaction from HeatherE in Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go first
Okay here goes...
This just happened a few minutes ago. I was sitting here reading through the forum, looked down and noticed my legs were crossed. When the heck did that happen. I'm so happy. 😁

I went to visit a potential preschool for my daughter with my wife last week. We were shown around and the teacher asked us to sit in one of the classes to explain their programs to us etc. They only had those small kindergarten chairs / stools. I asked for an adult chair and they didn't have any on that floor. I ended up setting on the kids chair and I was so worried that the poor chair was going to break. Well it didn't and it was OK when we left 😂. I wanted to ask my wife to take a photo of me sitting on that chair but the teacher was there haha. My daughter was so happy that I was sitting on the table and playing with her. Best feeling ever

My fingers are prettier. While typing on my phone I noticed my thumb looks thinner & longer. My brother visited for the first time in months & he said "even your hands look different" like wow, i have lady hands now lol

Candigrl1 reacted to Arabesque in Lack of weight loss
If you’re in a stall you won’t see any weight loss. The first often begins around week 3 & usually can last 1-3. Some people are just slow losers too & that’s okay. Some pre existing conditions can slow your rate of loss too as can certain medications.
As @oldsalt asked: what does your surgeon say? Also check with your dietician. Maybe something is missing in your diet or you’ve misunderstood something in your instructions or food list. Can be easy to do with all the information overload.
Don’t give up. It may take you longer than you hoped but you will lose weight. And those yoga classes will get easier. You’ll be surprised what you’ll be able to do in as little as a month if you stick with it.

Candigrl1 reacted to SleeveToBypass2023 in Loving my progress!!!
I finally weigh less than 300, for the first time in 17 1/2 years!! I'm off all 3 diabetes meds, my anti-inflammatory/joint pain med, and my blood pressure med. I do cardio 3 days per week and weight training 2 days per week. On cardio, I'm up to an hour and a half. On weight training days, I'm at right around an hour. Never in my LIFE did I think I could ever be here. I know I need my rest days, but I actually hate taking them LOL I look forward to working out, which is so crazy and foreign to me.

I'm ugly crying right now. I'm below 300, for the first time in almost 18 years. I can't believe it. I don't even have words. I never thought I would see this. I really didn't. I can't wrap my head around this. I'm below 300. I'M NOT 300 ANYMORE!!!!!!!

Candigrl1 got a reaction from kcuster83 in Shirt size
I went from size 26 to 18 and heading toward 16. I've been wearing a lot of leggings that are kind of form fitting so I won't have to buy much in the future. My issue is I'm a bit of a shopaholic so I don't know how long I'm going to last without buying something new while waiting to drop more weight. 😏

Candigrl1 reacted to SleeveToBypass2023 in Going on 3 weeks in this stupid stall
This is the longest one so far, but each time is a little longer so I was expecting this. STILL...... my 6 my 6 month follow up is Wednesday and I really wanted to be below 300 when I went in. I know I'm still doing well, it's just a personal goal I had that I'm bummed I won't meet. I won't see them again until my 1 year follow up, so maybe I'll have a big jump for them to see by then. Have I mentioned how much I hate stalls? Because I do. I really do. Gotta just keep on keepin on and eventually the stall will break and I'll drop again. Just super annoying.

Candigrl1 reacted to 2021NewMe in Emotional with weight loss
I am feeling emotional now that I lost weight I can't help to think why did I not love myself, care for myself, be kind to myself and not let myself go, like I did. Why did it take a surgery. Why couldn't I have the will power and believe and take my obesity seriously. Now that I am losing I can see myself healing not just on the outside but the inside. I feel bad for not caring for myself and treating myself with kindness. Telling myself that I can do it, that I am worth it. Now all I want is to treat myself right and not indulge in food but just enjoy food and limit myself. I think so different. I do think of food but it's not a worry or priority it is what it's meant to get you going fuel, and you want to eat healthy foods to get the right Vitamins, I dont mindlessly eat. I care Now.

Candigrl1 reacted to kaylee50 in Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go first
It's only been about 3 weeks for me, but the swelling in my hands and feet has really gone down. It's inflammation from early arthritis. To my utter delight, I was able to wear my late mother's favorite ring today! I got a little teary-eyed when I realized it fit again.
(And now I am getting a little teary-eyed just typing this...sorry.)

Candigrl1 got a reaction from KimA-GA in 6 month follow up
I have Kaiser and they refer some of their patients out for bariatric surgery and follow up. They do have a few surgeons but I guess they have a lot of patients so some of us went out of network.

Candigrl1 got a reaction from KimA-GA in 6 month follow up
This Thursday is my six month follow up with the surgeon who did my bypass. Because my health plan refers out this will be the last time I see her, then my plan takes over. I'm at a loss on what to ask her. Are there any questions I should be asking her about at this point?
Thanks

Candigrl1 reacted to SpartanMaker in Diabetes
Oh how nice it would be if diabetes made you lose weight!
People with diabetes don't respond correctly to insulin. The main job of insulin is to signal your cells to take up the sugar in your blood to use as fuel. Because that process isn't working like it should, people with diabetes have excess sugar in their blood. That excess blood sugar has to go somewhere. Where it goes is that your body converts it into fat and stores it.
There's a reason why type 2 diabetes is strongly correlated with obesity. Being overweight can lead to insulin resistance on a cellular level, which can lead to more weight gain, which makes your body unable to as efficiently process the insulin, which can lead to more weight gain, and so on.
Now just like any other potential hormonal imbalance, being diabetic does not make you gain weight. It just means that all other things being equal, it's more likely. To gain weight, you still have to eat more than you burn, regardless of any hormone issues.

Mine rumbles when I eat. Kind of glad to know I'm not alone with a noisy stomach.

Candigrl1 got a reaction from KimA-GA in Carbs yes or no
Neither of my programs really limited carbs. (My *** refers Bariatrics out sometimes) However, my PCP did ask me to limit my carbs to under 50 grams per day. This is due to diabetes. What our plan was is for me to increase the amount of carbs slowly. I do find that most of the food I eat is not that high in simple carbs and now I tend to choose healthier options for myself. I think along with your doctor you can find a happy medium for yourself.

Candigrl1 got a reaction from KimA-GA in I know it's normal, but it's still SUPER annoying!!
Sorry you are going through this and I know it sucks. I guess I'm lucky and unlucky at the same time. My shedding has seriously decreased so I only had a short time of losing a ton of hair. But due to massive shedding in the years before surgery I see more scalp now (and I mean a lot). Its getting harder to disguise it. I wanted a cute pixie cut but scared my scalp will show so I'll be off to the hairdresser for a consult soon.
The good thing is there will be new growth so all we can do is wait this out and per my Derm make sure Protein, Water and Vitamin D levels are good.

Candigrl1 got a reaction from KimA-GA in A1C levels?
My doc wouldn't touch me until mine was under 9 and of course once I got it down to 8 she wanted a retest in case it was a fluke. When I had my surgery it was 7.6.

Candigrl1 reacted to SleeveToBypass2023 in Having extra therapy sessions this week and going forward for a while
Really having a hard time not falling back into my old way of thinking and eating (or not eating, as it were). My husband pointed out today that I'm restricting again. He said he noticed it Friday and all through the weekend. I've been in a lot of pain because I pulled 2 muscles in my back, have had a lot of stress the last week, and instead of going to over eating like I used to, I fell back into my new "old" habit of restricting. I was worrying I would overeat, and I guess I went right back into my new "fall back" habit of just not eating much of anything.
My husband made notes on what he saw me eating and I had 450 calories and 18 carbs on Friday, 413 calories and 14 carbs on Saturday and 344 calories and 10 carbs on Sunday. I honestly didn't even notice it, and that really freaks me out. I can fall back into it that easily and it doesn't even faze me. I drink so much Water now (flavored only, because plain water is EW) that I honestly didn't even feel hungry. I hate that I swapped one disordered way of thinking for another.
PLEASE pay close attention to your feelings, thoughts, and habits. DO NOT tell yourself that because you're fat/obese/overweight or whatever that you can't develop an ED. Trust me, you can. And it can sneak up on you and smack you in the head when you don't expect it to. I thought I was doing so well. Been logging my food, not cheating, not restricting, doing my therapy, and then BAM. Here we go again. Be kind to yourself, but be mindful and aware.

Candigrl1 reacted to SpartanMaker in Carbs yes or no
I suspect this is one of the reasons many doctors (like mine), recommend a lower carb diet, at least initially after WLS.
I personally have a love/hate relationship with low carb dieting. I lost a great deal of weight doing low carb ~20 years ago, but ended up gaining it all back and then some, because I found it unsustainable long-term. As a result, I'm intending to take more of a "smart-carb" approach this time.
The reality is, not all carbs are the same. My plan is to limit my intake of simple carbs, especially processed foods as much as possible, while adding in complex carbs via whole foods as tolerated.
