  1. Ya I'm thinking thats what I'm gonna need to do too. Just weigh in at the doctor's office.

With my husband having surgery on Monday, I'll be back in the office on 2 weeks with him anyway so I can weigh myself then.

I can't continue to stress how much I'm loosing because I'll just hinder my progress.

  2. Had my 1st post-op visit today...my scale says I've lost 13 lbs...Dr scale says I've lost 7...6 lb difference!!!

    WTF!!!

Dr says I should only be weighing myself once a week and that I'm doing fine. But I thought for sure the weight would come off a little faster.

Sticking with soft foods until next appointment on July 20th. Hopefully I'll see a better loss then.

My husband goes in on Monday for his surgery so at least we will both be on the same diet.

  3. Soft vegetables on day nine? My nutritionist says clear to thick liquids, like Protein Shakes, on week two. I'm genuinely curious because I'm starving so if I can try other things, soft smooshy things, I might do so. Because I have zero energy and am exhausted on just Clear Liquids and Protein shakes.

Ya I've been on soft veggies, Soup, yogurt, pudding, juice ice chunks, since last week. I haven't had any issues, just have to go slow so as to not get over full

  4. Feels pretty good, had a minor set back on soft veggies cuz I forgot the "seed" rule and thought I wad gonna die...so I've back tracked for a few days and feeling better.

Weight loss has been slow (SW 250, CW 238, GW 150). Hoping it speeds up some, but I guess steady weight off is permanent weight off. Just thought it would be faster.

First post-op visit is next Wednesday so I see what happens then.

  5. Has anyone else felt super irritable after their surgery? I'm almost 3 weeks post op and finding myself getting irritated with my husband and daughters more than normal. Maybe hormones?? Not sure.

I'm the same way! I'm 1 week post today and I'm so freaking snappy with my husband . He's been approved but waiting on his date. But has slipped into old eating habits and I snapped on him yesterday. I'm trying so hard to stay on task after surgery and it's like he doesn't even care how much he eats. He hasn't gained his required weight back and is still losing slowly but I feel like it won't be long before he gains it back.

  6. Thanks for your response. What Protein have you started with? I made the mistake of mixing Protein Powder with high Protein milk powder and it was SO thick. What has worked for you? I’m thinking of trying a 500ml shake with 50g in there. I’m glad I’m not the only one burping! I’m not a natural burper so it’s actually tricky for me to burp without wrenching. Literally have reverted back to a baby with my poor boyfriend burping me! How is your energy?

My energy is not there yet, it's all I can do to walk for 15 minutes at a shot right now. I've been drinking Premier Protien shakes (pre-made), they taste much better than the powder. Also Equate shakes, but Core Power protien shakes are the bomb!!! They are a little pricey $2.50 - $3.00 each or $8.00 - $12.00 a 4 pack but sooo good.

  7. I had my surgery on June the 9th and was so excited and feeling really strong. Since surgery I have been knocked sideways and am in such a funk. All food makes me feel sick, I can barely drink fluids and I’m feeling panicked that this will go on forever. I can’t stop burping and wrenching. Is there anyone out there who wants to buddy up and help keep each-other stay positive? Any tips welcome

I had my surgery on the 6th. I had to start are with nothing but ice chips for 2 days and still felt like I was gonna hurle. And the gas!! I still burp all day!! Still not getting in all my Water but getting close on protien. Midsection still extremely tender. And finally felt ok enough to stop nausea meds on Saturday. Just take it at your pace and go back to day 1 and see how you do but make sure you talk to your nutritionist, they may have a few tricks to get you through this.
    Good luck

  8. So for context. I had the surgery March 8th.
So after my surgery they told me to eat Jello, I couldn't it hurt incredibly bad. So I just didn't eat anything. In fact I eat maybe a bite of food a day, still. I get horrible pain when I eat or drink. I've told my surgeon's office and they say "Don't worry you have tons of fat to live off of, it's not a big deal." I can't eat even week one post-op food. I can't drink Water, it has to be hot tea or I am met with awful, rough pain. On top of that, everything food related smells and tastes like ROT. Straight rotten food, garbage taste and smell. No one else I know who had the surgery suffered from either one of these things. Does anyone have any advice?

    Pre-Op: 398lbs
    Post-Op: 336lbs

Try eating Soup or foods a room temp.

  10. Good to know this went better for you than gallbladder and c section (my own surgical history). I'm not scheduled until July 7 so its comforting to hear your report. From what it sounds like you got to go home pretty quickly.
    Was it same day discharge?

Rest up and best wishes on your recovery.

No I was able to go home after staying in hospital for 1 night. Surgery was at 230 on Monday and I was discharged at 200 on Tuesday.

  11. Well my surgery went well, took 3 hours due to severe scar tissue from a gall bladder surgery in 1992. I have to say that gastric sleeve surgery was much less painful than my C-section or my gall bladder surgery.

Had me up walking in recovery about an hour after surgery. Then walked 1 more time after I was taken to my room.

Walked 2 more times at hospital before I was released to come home.

Was given a small hospital pitcher of ice chips last night. Then was given another one this morning. Was given 1oz of plain Greek yogurt for Breakfast and 1oz of Tomato Soup for lunch. So definitely alot different than I thought food the 1st day after surgery would be. So far so good!

  12. Well in off for my pre-op testing today for surgery on Monday afternoon.

This has been a long journey for me so far (since I started this before COVID), but I'm really excited for the new me to finally come out from behind the fat me.

Honestly, with the amount of weight my doctor is telling me I should lose, I will be back down to a weight I haven't seen since my freshman year in HS! I think that amount of weight will make me too small but I'm gonna go for it anyway and see what happens.

With that being said, I will be starting at 250 pounds and should be down to 130 pounds (according to my team) by this time next year.

Will let everyone know how I feel on Monday evening after surgery.

Good luck to all my June buddies!

  13. Greetings! I'm a newbie here. I was approved quickly for gastric sleeve surgery. I have a surgery date of June 22nd. The doc wants me on the liver shrinkage diet for 3 weeks so it's T minus 5 days until I need to start. I would love to find hints, tips, and advice on ways to make it more tolerable. I would also like to find & chat with other RA sufferers who are utilizing VSG in hopes of remission, like myself. Thank you!

    WOW! Congratulations!
It took me 6 months to get my date. I'm scheduled for June 6th.
