Hi!! I'm new here! I was just released from the hospital yesterday! I had the gastric sleeve done on Tuesday the 24th. How is everyone doing?

Congrats surgery twin! Tuesday for my sleeve too.

I spent one night in and was released the next day. I'm doing my walking, getting the Protein and Water required. Pain is manageable with Tylenol and gabapentin.

How is it going for you?

Hi, congratulations on your surgery! I have a question: I am having almost the same procedure but a RNY instead of a sleeve. How long were you in surgery?
Thanks and continued best wishes for a quick recovery.

My wife said they called her 3 hours after I went back.

The doc said the surgery should only take 90 minutes to 2 hours.

So, two to three hours, I guess.

What to pack for your surgery ? Suggestions?

I brought a clean change of clothes. Slippers for walking the halls. A long charging cable for my phone. A small bottle of biotene dry mouth spray. (Only needed it waking from surgery, but it really felt good at that time). Toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant.

    That's it.

  4. I'm 23 hours out of sleeve surgery. Had a hernia repair and gallbladder removed too.

I've been up and about for the last 8 hours. My pain is 1-2 with Tylenol, gabapentin, and the very last vestiges of the spinal block they used on me.

I've been sipping Water out of 1 ounce cups since an hour after I woke from surgery.

Two hours after I started with the water, i added in Protein Shakes. A little at first, building up as my body let's me.

I'm currently getting between 4-6 oz of water/shake each hour.

I had Dilaudid when I first woke and was in 6-7 pain. No more doses of that.

They've been giving me Tylenol, pepcid, heperin, and gabapentin.

I'm supposed to be getting released this afternoon.

  5. I have surgery tomorrow. Two week liquid was rough at first, but got easier as I went along.

I did track mine with Baritastic, but I didn't really need to. My diet was 20oz skim milk, 3x day. Same each day, didn't really need to track. Just did it to keep in the habit.

Keep strong. You can do it.

I'm also very nervous as I'm scheduled for a hiatal hernia repair and a Roux-en-Y tomorrow, finally the day has come! after being cancelled once due to covid cases taking up all the beds.. can't wait to get all this over and done with and and be my path to my new journey!

🙏😊All the best to you keep us posted on how you go.

    😊😊😊😊

    Good luck tomorrow!

  7. My RNY is on the 24th.

Was originally going to get a VSG but after an endoscopy, the doc thinks my GERD is worse on my body than the way I feel about it. Convinced me that I would probably be horrendously suffering from acid if I went with the VSG.

Also going to repair my hiatal hernia and after doing a nuclear scan going to pull out my gallbladder.

    Wheeeee....

Started my pre-op diet on the 10th.

I'm jealous of all your pre-op diets. I get two weeks of 20oz non-fat milk 3x a day. 50oz of other liquids a day - Water, broth, Decaf tea or coffee.

On day five and it's really not all that bad. Doc's literature said this type of diet activated the body's hunger suppresant. And I'm really surprised how.... well, I am hungry, but I'm not as hungry as I would have thought.

Anyway, nervous and excited at the same time. I'm sure you've all felt that same way.
