  1. I miss sandwiches, which was one of the reasons I needed the band in the first place! I have to admit there are times I wish I could bite into a Big Mac! But I don't and that is okay. The benefits have far outweighed the cravings. Have a great week and good luck with your upcoming banding. It is the best thing I have ever done. :)

  2. Today is my one year anniversary for my band. It does not seem like it has been a year but here it is! I will never ever regret this surgery. It probably saved my life as I was bordering on diabetes, had high cholesterol, rising HBP and other medical issues caused by my weight. Today we are waiting on our first grandchild to be born. He is due anytime and I am very thankful that I am much more healthy today than I was a year ago. I now actually feel that I will be able to keep up with him and will be able to get down in the floor and play with him and can run with him. I have lost a total of 70 pounds. I am very proud of that but I could and should have lost more. Not the bands fault, but mine. I have not been walking nor watching what I eat lately. But, I have not gained any. Going to start a gym next week and get back to my walking and measuring. If any of you are discouraged, don't give up, it does work. Hope you all have a great weekend and upcoming week.

    :(

  3. Since posting this month that I was getting back on track after little to no weight loss for 2-3 months. I got a fill on the 15th and have lost 6 more pounds since then. I am so excited and glad that I am losing again. I am working out 4 to 5 times a week and I feel that and drinking my Water really helps. Since my fill, I am staying full much longer. This band has saved my life!!!!! I hope everybody has a great week.

  4. After approximately 3 months of losing 3 pds, gaining 4 pds, then losing them again and basically staying the same weight for the past 3 months, I AM BACK ON TRACK!

I had a fill last Wednesday and it had been since February 26th since my last fill. I was absolutely starving all the time, snacking, not exercising, etc. etc.

I know what I have to do and I am now doing it. I am not going to beat myself up because I have been very successful with my weight loss up until this time. I have lost a total of 64 pounds since my surgery date, September 26th, 2008. I just hope this will be an encouragement to someone else who may be struggling. I am feeling much better since my fill, am drinking my Water and am back to exercising. All of you have been a tremendous help to me in the past 9 months and I am glad for all the support. Just knowing that others understand where I am coming from helps so much. I am off to the gym now. Everyone have a great week!!!!!:bored:

  5. hello lavender714

i was taking mobic which in an nsaid and also ibuprofen almonst daily prior to my surgery. i quit taking them about 1 month before. i now take tylenol for headaches, etc.

i have really not noticecd a big difference. the mobic seemed to really help my lower back pain, but since surgery and losing 60+ pounds so far, that is much much better. Good luck with your surgery, you will do great. I have never been sorry.:smile2:

  6. congratulations! this is awesome and it is also encouraging to me. My six months band anniversary is this Thursday. I have lost half of what my goal is. Keep up the good work. I went shopping today too. Isn't is exciting to good and pick out clothes in regular sizes.:)

  7. hi, first of all congrats on your loss! That is great! I gave my clothes away to a relative. Luckily I have a friend who had the lap band before me and I am lucky enough to buy her clothes as she is about 2 sizes ahead of me now since she had her surgery a year before me. I only kept one pair of my "big" jeans so that when I am through, I can take a picture and see how much I really did lose. Also, so that I won't ever forget how important this surgery really was for me and my family. So I see get rid of them. Give them to friends or sell them or take to Salvation Army. Keep up the good work!

  8. Hello Helena,

No question is dumb. We here are all still learning. I had never had surgery before I had LapBand. I was terrified, but it was the easiest and best thing I have ever done. I had mine in Sept 2008 and have since surgery date lost 51 pounds. YAY! Anyway, maybe your boss had some type of other health issue where the had to loosen the band. Just remember everyone is different and may experience different issues or problems after their surgery. The main thing is do what your surgeon says and follow guidelines. Good Luck!!!

  9. lizzyann, great job. you have done wonderful. don't be afraid to post. practically everyone i have seen on here is very nice and helpful. I have really learned a lot and gotten encouragement from them. keep up the good work. to jpbmmjr, this is a good place for info but you do need a good doctor for support. good look with your band. you will do great!

  10. hi, I had my 3rd fill on Dec 22 and have had two real stuck episodes since then. The first lasted about 20 minutes until I had my husband pull over and I got out of our vehicle and drank down some Water. I then almost vomited after sliming. I never knew what sliming was until then, but apparently it is where basically you feel like you are manufacturing spit and it just gets to where there is so much of it in your mouth you don't know where it is coming from. Anyway, so once I kind of regurgitated (did i spell that right?!) I was okay. I had tried to eat a flour tortilla. Today, Mexican food again, this time dorita chips. NO more tortila, chips or bread for me. Today, did not last as long, but a few embarassing moments in the restroom waiting in line for my turn. I did not think I would make it but I did and did not throw up, but came very close. I will be much more careful because that is not enjoyable in the least. I am glad for the resstriction because honestly it is the first since first having surgery. Oh well, so much for me. Good luck with the band. I have lost a total of 42 pounds since September 26, 2008, my surgery date.

  11. hey! I had my first really stuck episode yesterday and it scared the crap out of me. You have this feeling like is it never going to get unstuck!!! Anyway, it did. I tried to eat a kids burrito from Moe's and the tortilla got stuck. I finally found out what sliming was too. My husband had to pull over so i could get out of the car and I managed to get it down without throwing up. No more tortillas or any bread for me. I have not had bread but once since surgery but since my third fill a few days before Christmas, the doctors office told me no more bread. Sorry, but I am not sure about the liquids after vomiting. Just be careful and call the doctors office tomorrow to find out.

  12. hey everybody! haven't been here in a while. i am so glad to see how great everyone is doing. go debbie!!! anyway, i have lost a total of 40 pounds since 09/26/08. I am so excited. i got my third fill on the monday before Christmas and now I have real restriction. I am soooo glad i did this. congrats to everybody and keep up the good work. Happy New Year.:tongue_smilie:

  13. congratulations on your surgery date! You will be glad you did this. I had my band in September 2008 and have lost 40 pounds so far. There is a monthly lapband forum on here that you can talk with others who are also being banded in January. It helps to see what others are going through and how they are doing. The main advice I will give you is after the surgery make sure you stay hydrated. I did not drink liquids like I should and was walking the same day I came home from surgery. I just overdid it the first few days. If I had stayed hydrated I would have been fine. I do believe that the walking helped me a lot that first week as I had literally no problems after surgery. A lot of people complain about the pain in the shoulders from the gas from the surgery where they basically inflate your stomach to do the lapband surgery but the walking helped so much. Hope this helps some. Best of luck!!!!

  14. hey, congratulations on your weight loss!!!! i don't think it is too slow. I know we all want to lose 5 to 10 pounds per week, right!! but like you said, it took longer to get it on so it is not all going to come off immediately. keep up the good work!!!!!:wink2:
