  1. Enjoy can answer for her own success but I like braggin on her just cuz she's so awesome. There are others here who have found success too. CarolinaGIrl, Gowalking, catfish to name a few. Here's the link to her post about achieving her goal with pictures, recipes and how she did it. Enjoy(pun intended) http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/305070-i-cant-believe-it-is-this-reallty-happening-for-me/?p=3445432
  2. I would call your doctor and ask him what he thinks? What you're feeling is not normal. jmo
  3. You're diet consists of mainly slider foods you know? You're not using your tool if this is what you eat. A consult with your nutritionist might help you out?
  4. If you google some anatomy images you will see that there's no way the band can strangle you. Your wind pipe(trachea) and esophagus part company about where you larynx is. So, your band is placed around your stomach about 8" away. When does your band hurt? Is it constant or just when you eat or drink? The band is placed about 3 cm below the lower esophageal sphincter. Any higher and it would be around your esophagus. But, bands have been placed there mistakenly by surgeons and sometimes the band can slip above the sphincter. Better check with your doctor?
  5. Reflux? Coughing? Can you eat anything now? Could have been something as simple as being stuck and you're swollen?
  6. A consult with a nutritionist seems to be in order? You should be losing 6+ lbs a month. Do your clothes fit looser? Are you hungry between meals?
  7. Ahh, you brought tears to my eyes. So sweet and what a great NSV!!
  8. Be positive. I had very little pain post op and I know I'm not the only one.
  9. Success in small doses is like an aphrodisiac. For most of us, it's much more powerful than the anesthetic effects of food.
  10. We're going to need a lot more information than what you've provided? Why are you not losing? Most people know why or suspect they know why? What do you eat? A typical daily meal would be good to know? How much did you weigh? How much now? How many fills and are you in the green zone? What does your doctor or nutritionist say? Do you exercise? Do you count calories and how many do you consume a day?
  11. You said in another thread your band slipped? I'm confused if your appointment isn't till Wednesday, how did you verify your band slipped?
  12. The link takes me to a subscription page. They want money? Too bad, I'd like to read it? Oh, Never Mind.. The 2nd time I clicked on the link it took me to the article.
  13. Usually cold is preferred to reduce swelling. Hockey, football and baseball athletes ICE swollen joints or muscles.
  14. You're not going to lose much weight till your band is adjusted properly and I read where they missed your port. Make them do it under fluoroscopy so you know they're doing it right?
  15. Bands don't corrode. Slipped bands can be removed, repositioned, have saline removed and hope the band returns to it's position. Why worry about it?
  16. My opinion, wait till you get back. You should still be feeling some restriction/satiety from your band so why risk the swelling and possible overly tight band for just a week or two? You have years to make this work, no need to panic over a few days.
  17. You're feeling the swelling under the band from eating the potatoes. There are 6-8 sutures securing the part of your stomach that the surgeon pulled up over the band to secure the position of the band. The swelling is normal and can be exasorbated by eating mushy foods at this stage. Go back to your liquid diet and you should be fine. But it's always wise to alert your Dr to any excessive swelling.
  18. You're down 65 lbs in 7 weeks?
  19. I struggle with tamales. Shredded chicken and my band are bitter enemies
  20. Look in your nutrition guidelines? Do they allow caffeine? I was asked to avoid caffeine for the first 6 months(I didn't). My nut said it was OK to drink one cup of coffee a day. I think they want to make sure we aren't guzzling coke.
  21. The OP. Her ID is in the text above my comment.
  22. It's not unusual for nurses or staff to not return calls. You need to be proactive about this and make amends with your surgeon. Your band could have slipped, eroded or you could have a dilated pouch or hernia? All are serious medical conditions and need immediate attention. Your journey is anything but typical. We all take different paths but yours seems to be abnormal. Your band is not behaving as it should and for what it's worth, band's don't really behave, our bodies behave and react to the food we eat. And if you've been eating around the band or abusing your pouch, you really should see your doctor? Vomiting your food is not advisable and drinking to force stuck food is definitely a no-no. tmf
  23. First, eggs seem to be one of the foods that many of us find hard to tolerate in most any form. Seems like they're slippery consistency would allow them to just go through but that's just not the case. And, you may be slightly swollen from the fill which just exacerbated the problem. Most all of us find eating in the mornings to be the most difficult meal of the day. Especially when our bands are optimally adjusted. In your case, the stuck episode just 12 hours before could have caused additional swelling. Finally, it took me 9 months to figure out how small to eat, how big to chew and how slowly I needed to eat. You're just getting started and I too thought I was eating correctly but I wasn't. You should be fine if you fall back on slider foods for a few days. But don't be surprised if you get tighter as the days go by? Some people don't feel the fill for up to 2 weeks.
