Yes yes and yes! I go through the same thing. I’m 3 1/2 months out and some days a couple bites will fill me up quick(sometimes it’s also because I don’t chew it completely) like today every piece of meat I eat is filling me up so quick. I think the more our stomach heals, it settles on the smaller size it’s supposed to be.

But on other days I can eat close to 1200 calories. Between the Protein, the milk I drink, Snacks, vegetables & fruit. I’m glad I track because then I don’t feel bad about it because it’s all good things I put in. (Except maybe a 60 calorie ice cream snack from Aldi…lol)

but for me what you are describing is normal. Can’t say it will be later for now it is.

I keep telling myself that it’s normal to eat over 1000 calories as long as I’m getting in my Protein and eating the right things. It’s hard not to freak out though🫤.

For me, it's more about what I eat... if I eat junk food (chips, Cookies, sweets) I feel like I can eat a lot, but if I eat solid Protein like chicken or deli meat, I can't eat much at all. But, some days I'm more hungry than others, and I think this has to do with how busy I am - if I'm really busy and not thinking about food, I'm not that hungry

I agree, when I’m really busy I usually forget to eat but when I’m just sitting at home I will snack. Just a reminder that a big portion of this mental.

YES! You'll sort of get used to it. I'm assuming that some days you feel like grazing and other days you basically forget to eat?

Yes! That’s exactly it. Thanks, I don’t feel completely crazy for thinking this way.

  4. Am I the only one who some days has no appetite and then turn around the next and feel almost no restriction? I’m only three months post op. I have been increasing my workouts recently so I don’t know if that is playing a part. I just feel like some days my appetite is non stop and I’m so afraid of stretching my pouch.

  5. That’s awesome! Us thyroid warriors have to stick together😊. Don’t worry the scale will move again. I had a stall at 3 weeks and I think I have stalled 3 more times since then. My latest labs show that my tsh has dropped with weight loss so I have been cutting back on my meds. My endo says it’s a good thing because it means my thyroid is doing more of the work on its own and doesn’t need as much help.

  6. Hope everything worked out and you were able to get things “moving”. One thing that really helped me was my dietician suggested a toilet stool that props your feet up and puts your colon in the best position to “go”. She recommend trying a heavy stack of books to prop your feet up at first before spending the money on a stool. I have a three legged pet so I just used one of his steps and that worked perfectly.

I have been walking about every other day since my surgery. I started at 10 minutes and now I’m up to 25 minutes. I graduate to PURÉED foods on Tuesday. Do you have any suggestions? Things that didn’t make you sick and were satisfying?

Sounds like you walk more then me, that’s great. I hated the puréed stage but I will tell you that refried Beans and black beans became my best friend. I love anything remotely related to Mexican food. So I would mash my black beans down and add a little shredded cheese and plain Greek yogurt to replace sour cream. That was my go to meal. I might actually try some again this week but just just add a little chicken. I also tried egg salad but made it with low fat ranch dressing instead of mayo.

Wow, you lost 44 pounds in 8 weeks! I’ve only lost 7.6 pounds since my surgery two weeks ago. I can’t even imagine losing that much so fast. How often were you exercising? What type of exercise?

P.S. Sorry about your injury. Fingers crossed for quick healing.

My surgeons office encouraged exercising as soon as possible so I started walking one week post op. My weight at surgery was 257 so it’s really a 35 pound lost since surgery and 9 lbs lost prior to surgery. I try to walk at least three days a week but I do walk a ton at work as well. I think also the diet plan seems to be a lot stricter then others. I’m almost 9 weeks post op and I’m still only doing soft and chopped foods, only cooked veggies and no fruit. 7.6 pounds is amazing in two weeks!

honestly, weight loss is about 90% food and only 10% exercise. I know WLS patients who lost a ton of weight even without exercise. That said, exercise is great for your overall health and people should do it - but an injury that causes a temporary pause in your routine is not going to be the end of your weight loss.

also, you could be in a stall - they're very common. Just stick to your program and your weight loss will eventually start up again. Stalls usually last 1-3 weeks.

and no, I doubt "this is it" as long as you're adhering to your program. Most of us lose for a year - if not more (20 months for me - but I started out much heavier than you, so I had a lot more to lose)

Thank you so much for your kind words! The mental part of this journey is way harder than I anticipated. I truly appreciate the suggestions and encouragement.

  10. I am 8 weeks post op. I was sleeved on 3/1/22 and everything has been going great until last weekend when I tripped on the stairs and sliced my big toe open. Now I’m sitting around the house with a bandaged toe and a boot for outside. I’m so bummed because I had just gotten into a good workout routine. Although I am still hitting my Protein and Water goals I noticed right away that I was consuming more calories. I feel bloated and just all around blah. I convinced myself yesterday that this is where my weight loss stops and I just need to find happiness in where I am at now. My starting weight was 266 and I now weigh 222.6 lbs. All in my feels today….

  11. Hope everything went well with your surgery. I lost 9lbs prior to surgery so I have really lost 31 since surgery. I’m working on not being so hard on myself. I have noticed frequent stalling but at least the scale is moving down and not up. I look forward to hearing about your progress please keep us posted.

  12. I didn't have my thyroid removed but was diagnosed with hashimotos two years ago and rapidly put on weight. I am 7 weeks post op today and I have lost 40 pounds since surgery. I do think my weight loss seems slower compared to others but I just said to myself today that this is the best I have felt in two years and that makes this whole process completely worth it.
