  1. That's what i've heard about the lap-band as well ,that there is no "shut off" point.I've heard that the bypass you have a certain amount of time to lose the most weight in.

Anyone else go through this ? Help!

Thank you SO MUCH for your reply. I had no idea about the side effects of the anesthesia either & the break down of estrogen. I was telling my Husband last night that what i'm feeling now is very similar to what I felt when I had post postpartum depression. It's not what I expected at all. Thank you also for the book recommendation. I love to read and this book sounds like something that would be very helpful. The good news is ,i've lost 2 pounds since the surgery. I just have to stay positive. I think the hardest thing for me ,has been sitting here all day ,for the most part ,alone and I have way too much time to think about things. My Husband is at work ,my kids are at school and I miss my routine in a way. I so badly look forward to feeling normal again. I don't want food to control my life anymore and that's the main reason why I had this surgery. I want to feel better physically etc. It's nice to know that i'm not going crazy afterall lol.
  3. Hi Everyone, I was banded on November 3rd and I came back from the Hospital last night. The surgery went well, thank God!!! When I first started the program,I weighed 285,the day of surgery,I weighed 261. I have so many questions,I don't know where to start lol. First of all,is it normal to have no appetite ,which I have none. I've been sipping on Water and off and on a Protein shake. I have very little energy. Is this all normal? My other concern is ,all this talk about possibly being constipated but my problem ,is the opposite. I have had runny, watery stools(sorry if this is tmi),is this normal as well? Thank you for any input. Where can I get so little weight trackers that everyone seems to have ?

  5. Hi Lisa,

I just now saw this !! Congrats on getting banded very soon :)!! Yes the liquid diet is tough,I was only on it for a week and I did have a hard time because I was hungry but the biggest piece of advice I can give you ,is to keep an eye on the big goal!! That's what I had to keep reminding myself,I had to keep remembering that this was going to be a lifestyle change, which I firmly believe that's one of the reasons why they want us on the liquid diet before hand. I had to come to the acceptance that I have to look at food differently and look elsewhere for that comfort.

You can do this,Lisa!! I'm rooting for you :) !!!

I never saw the PM ....hmmm.

  6. For financial reasons (this is the honest to goodness truth),I was not able to start my pre-op diet last week. I'm having surgery November 3rd. I will be starting my diet tomorrow but has anyone else ever been through this,as far as not being able to do the full 2 week diet before surgery?
  7. Hi All, My surgery will be on November 3rd. I'm excited and nervous all at the same time. Any suggestions for this week or day of the surgery ? Thanks!
  8. This is something i'm struggling with as well. I'm having surgery on November 3rd but have only told a hand full of people. The reason why I haven't spread the news so much is ,1. I wanted to make sure I actually got approved,2.I'm tired of people judging other people who had weight loss surgery, for example, somehow that's taking the easy way out, which I've heard several people at work mentioning.Well I guess those 2 reasons are the main reasons but basically is what it boils down to ,is I don't want to hear the negative crapt.
  9. Hello everyone, I'm so excited to have found this site and what great timing. I've been in the LB program since early March. I've attended all the required meetings at the local clinic and I have lost all but one pound of the required 10 pound weight loss. My next meeting that I will attend is on August 8th and that's just to get weighed. I'm hoping that the one last stubborn pound will be gone by then. The only thing that I left to do is to see my PCP for a pre-operative exam and that's strictly for my Insurance company requirements. Once that the Surgeon's office see that i've finally lost the ten pounds, then they schedule a visit with the Nutritionist, then another visit with the nurse and THEN I actually will finally get an appt with the surgeon. Of course during this whole time with all the appts,I have to maintain my weight loss or they basically cancel any further appts and make you come back when you've lost the weight. In a nut shell ,i'm so close to finally getting to the point of surgery, which for some time it seemed to take forever and after alllllllllllllll this lol,i've now begun to feel nervous. I work with 3 woman ,who have had the Roux en Y procedure and from the complications i've heard of ,I decided I didn't want to go that route BUT ,i've picked up this month's Self magazine ,which had a lengthy article about gastric bypass&lapband surgery. I think that's what really started the slight anxiouness I feel. Is this normal ? What can I expect after surgery ? I had a talk with my Husband last night about this but he doesn't really like to give his opinion because he says it's my decision but it would really help to have some input lol. I have made the decision that i'm going to go through with the surgery but any information will be much appreciated. I think what i'm most curious about ,is eating habits ,etc. Thank you !!
