  1. thank you! I knew you would understand being your Hashimoto's struggle. I literally can't "stomach" the taste of Water additives. I'm not a picky person at all so its super frustrating when everything makes you gag. I can get about 2 sips of a Protein Shake and less of Protein water but this too shall pass so just doing the best I can and drinking water with lemon with SO MUCH ice lol its literally the only thing I can drink, and it has to be that way. I'm really trying to drink more than my current 2 - 3 glasses a day - it's an all-day struggle. I may get another myers IV bag next week but really hoping to no have too as its not cheap.

    Good afternoon,

I'm officially 10 weeks post op after VSG. I've only lost 48 lbs, but I'm feeling SO much better than before.

Just curious for anyone who's been out of surgery around the same time (my date was April 13th) and what you've lost during this time.

I'm not worried about not losing more because 48lbs in 10 weeks is still a great amount to have lost, but my surgeon said I would've lost between 50-60 lbs by 8 weeks out, on average.

:) Weight loss is consistent now, I didn't lose anything for about 3+ weeks after week 3 while I was healing, but now it's consistently about 3-4 lbs down every week.

I've also found it helpful to include at least 2 tbsp a day of some type of grain or starch (nothing processed/white/wheat). When I stay lower in carbs (below 35), I don't lose weight at all for that week.

Hi Rachel and Jen!! My mini gastric bypass was 4/14. I have lost less than you both. I have not been able to get anywhere near my Protein and Water intake, I have a HUGE aversion to protein since week 6. I did my surgery in Mexico so I don't have any local support at this point but my surgeon advises he thinks I'm very dehydrated causing my inability to handle eating. I went and got a Myers IV bag last week and i feel like it has helped a bit, My starting weight was 242 and hit onederland Monday!!! I only weigh once a week and was at 199.8 this past Monday. You both are doing so amazing!!! I have fibromyalgia and this has helped with my brain fog and exhaustion for sure. I am not working out yet at direction from my surgeon until my fluids and protein are under control. I still get very light headed and dizzy everyday.

Do you have an icon called “profile” in the right-handed corner?

I do! It will let update my b day and address and occupation but won't let me do surgery info. I sent an email to the app cust service, hopefully they can figure it out. Just so much easier when your info is in there when your chatting. Thanks so much for taking the time to help me.

Download the app and then on the front page click on “patient information”. It’ll pop right up, then click “update”. You reminded me that I needed to update mine, lol

    Maybe I need

Thank you. I have no idea if I have a glitch on my end because I literally uninstalled it and re-downloaded and it still doesn't give me an option. Oh well, I really appreciate your help.

Surgery is June 23. Gastric bypass. Highest weight, 270 July 2021.

Current weight 188 with 4 more days to go on my liquid diet. Height 5'6" BMI 30 (barely). Age 65.

Why am I going through with surgery after losing 82 lbs pre-op? Statistics show that I will have a much better chance at keeping my weight off vs a 2-5% chance without the surgery . I'm tired of fighting obesity!

I went on a weight loss mission, pre-op, to reduce my risk of post op complications and to train myself for life with my new anatomy. I'm ready!

Good for you, that's awesome!!! I only had a 4 day preop diet and let me tell you it's been hell. I think that helps you alot with the mental part of food. Keep us posted!!!

Hi everyone, I hope you are all well. I had a question - I am 8 weeks post op and for the past two weeks I don't feel like eating at all. I have to remind myself. Previously I was ravenous. I also noticed that I am tried when I previously wasn't. I manage to hit my daily Protein targets through shakes. I am having all my supplements. I am struggling with Water and food. Has / is anyone else gone / going through this?

1st off I hope this gets easier for you soon. I'm 9 weeks post op and haven't been able to tolerate food in weeks. Protein is my biggest Aversion. Can't eat it or drink my shakes. I've never been able to Meer my protein goals. My surgeon and dietitian think it is the hormones being wacky from severe dehydration. They put me back on Clear Liquids for a few days but I'm still not able to reach my fluid goals. Everything is upsetting my stomach (yes, even water). I went and got a myers bag IV (banana bag) 2 days ago but no relief yet.

I'm 5 months PO, and still deal with nausea every day. My doc said it has to do with the same hormone that makes you nauseous when you are pregnant. It hurts even when I drink Water. I am forceful when dealing with docs, as I have had... things... happen to family members in the past. I requested an anti-nausea med, and when that didn't help enough, I requested another. I am on two different scripts for it. I asked him if it was maybe a stricture, and he dismissed that. (That is ME, I don't know about YOU) Anyway, no one cares about you more than you do, so go to him, or your primary, and be forceful.) If they blow you off, find another doc that will listen. There is NO reason you should suffer.

Thank you, I really appreciate you responding.

food not tasting good is a common reaction and is almost always temporary.

the sick part isn't normal, though. Has this just come on recently? If so, maybe a stricture (??) (I'm not familiar with mini-bypass, so not sure if this is common with them. About 5% of regular bypass patients get them - but I don't know about mini-bypass). I'd see a doctor or go to urgent care...this isn't normal.

Thank you, I appreciate your help

  9. I thought the 42g one was the elite Fairlife one? Core power is 26?

Literally Fairlife makes my life harder but it is the best tasting one [emoji1787] I love strawberry banana core power but I’m not shelling out how much they want for it around here/Amazon. So I have the regular strawberry Fairlife right now
Yes, your right. I love the strawberry banana but have only bought it as a single. I havent been able to find any strawberry regular ones

  10. Anyone try these shakes? They're a bit more caloric than the ones I usually drink (230 vs. 170) but I recently tried their 26 gram Protein Shakes and realllyyy liked them because they just taste like normal flavored milk. I want to try the 42-gram Protein One. There are 8 grams of sugar in each shake which is approved by my dietician. I just don't want to buy a whole case and hate it. Does it taste like milk or have that weird, gross, artificially sweet, Protein taste?

They are really good. It's the only way I can find strawberry banana

  11. I have literally no backside, as if someone came along and stole it in the night!
Seriously though, what’s the best ways of getting my bum back from the thieves please?
    Thanks
    Glenn

I needed to smile, thank you. I'm only 8 weeks post op/36 pound loss and I am not a fan of what my butt is looking like at all. Used to be nice and round then gained an extra 50 and it looked awful and now it's looking deflated and awful! Good news is a mommy makeover is an option for me so I try to hold on to that.

  12. Hi all, my mini bypass was 4/14. I have been really struggling. food does not taste good at all and everything makes me sick. It's making getting Protein and liquids in a nightmare. I've been extremely depressed and irratable and just really struggling. It isn't about me nit being able to eat like I used to but rather everything I do eat I feel disgusted and nauseous. I had my surgery in Mexico and just really am feeling like I don't know what to do... I keep thinking ill feel better the next day and it's not happening. Is anyone else having a hard time??

You will do great!! I just had mine this am

at 8:30 and so far So good! Pain is manageable and only slight nausea. Think they gave me a lot of meds and a nausea patch behind my ear that lasts 72 hours. Very sleepy and groggy but SO grateful to be on the other side of it. 🙏🏻🙌🏻☺️

So glad you are doing good, I have been thinking of you today. Rest and keep us posted!
