Ronnie, why in the world would he freak out about it ?? I don't understand it unless he was afraid for you to have the surgery.. I say, he will either think about it and come crawling back with a better understanding of the surgery or as they others say, you will definately have your pick later on.. wait until springtime.. this will be all behind you and you will be starting to get a new wardrobe and a new guy (s).. you really don't need any negativity in your life at this time.. this was a big decision to make and you made the right one.. take one day at a time.. it'll all work out.. shar

OMG... finally I am back on this thing... don't know what happened but I haven't been able to get on for ages.... Well, I had the psych eval on monday after the visit with dr posner.. he will send in the request for the surgery to the insurance as soon as he gets the results from the psych eval. maybe the sleeve will be before the holidays ??!! I hope so.. the more I think about it the more scared I get.. so, the sooner the better..

Tifftykins ?? I understand that you referred a website to someone that gave research information of sleeve patient 3-5 years out ?? Do you remember what that was ??

well, I had my psych eval yesterday and i should know if I will be approved for the sleeve or not.. I really can't fault the band because most of what I lost with the band, I have not regained,, unlike any other diet or tool.. And I do know many that were very successful with the band.. but not me.. too much heart burn and acid reflux and also actual spasms in the band area.. wish me luck .. I hope the insurance approves the sleeve.. I am alittle afraid of the possible complications, but, there are chances you take with any surgery.. I am 61 and realy looking forward to a successful solution to my problem.. I don't have that much to loose so if I can loose 20-30 more lbs, I would be very happy.. And NO.. I have tried to do it on my own and just can't.... if Icould have,. I wold have done it along time ago.

I am going to talk to Posner on the 29th about the stats.. I think Barb is also a good one to talk to.. I wish I was going to the meeting next week... then I guess there isn't one in december so we wait til january ... I think I remember you at the last one.. you were sitting next to BGX ? Blond ? well, have a good week.. I won't post until the 22nd.. I wil let you know about the cruise.... I am going to eat lots of seafood if I can... hopefully I won't gain.. well, the band was not bad for me a far as post surgery.. only took tylenol 2x after discharge and thats it so its not the surgery that I am worried about.. I am just worried about what is going to happen 2years out.. Its 2 years today for me.. I don't want to have to do the bypass in 2 more years.. I would rather be fat.. as long as I am healthy.. I think if I did not have this insurance issue at this time, I would take more time to make a decision.. I think at this point I have no choice..

Oh My !! am I being a pain to you guys ?????? My mind is just going all the time about this new surgery.. 2 years ago, I really thought my weight problems would be under control !! But, believe it or not, I am still not sorry I got the band..

you know, talking about won ton soup.... I usually make my own by buying the won tons frozen and using low sodium chx broth with those long green onions.. I would just do that (w/o the won ton )and cook it awhile to get the onion flavor and strain out the onions.. If thats the basic clear diet.. Is protein shakes considered clear diet also ? I would probably live on that and maybe beef broth flavored with onion too.. and maybe jello.. I think I could get thru it.. although maybe easier said than done at this point !! But, I really do't think I could get into the watered down cottage cheese.. If you need the protein, throw a couple of egg yolks into the protein shake to add to the protein and drink it like an egg nog..or Isn't there a low fat egg nog out there somewhere ? Is Jeannie the dietetician ?

well, I know that before I start with that baby food stuff, I would probably live on protein shakes for the duration of clear and pureed crap.. Yeah, I hope China is ok.. wonder if she would be interested.. I know she had problems with the band early on.. she may be interested in this new journey of ours.. good luck you guys.. if I don't talk to you before I leave for my vacation.. I will talk to you when I get back on the 22nd..

hey Vickie, glad you made out ok... I can't wait until the 29th to see what is what !! Can't you just have some creamed soups like tomato or brocoli and just blend it instead of doing all that crap.. doesn't sound too appetizing to me.. But I will do it if I need to.. BGX -- sounds like Val started something here !! good luck.. when will you find out what your doing ? or have you already decided ? That u-tube video was hysterical..

I had some time last night and finally found the part on the forum with questions and answers with different topics. it is very informational and very interesting.. Anyway, how long do they keep the drain in..?? is it gross ? could you go out oor are you stuck home until the drain comes out ? let me know how it went today..:crying:

BigGirl, I watched the soup recipe on utube.. looks good.. if you go in the drop down for oter recipe videos, they look good too.. Vicki or Val, are you able to get some answers on that forum regarding medical difficulties for post op patients.?. If its weight gain, i think no matter what surgery you have, that will always be a problem if you are not careful.. I am just worried about I guess the unknown..mal absorption, etc.

Val, it was nice seeing you at Dr millers office... I was so surprised .. I luv him.. been going to him for almost 20 years. You do look thin but I noticed that at the last meeting.. Big Girl.. you don't know who I am ? I know you !! I am at most of the meetings.. I come with sandra and sandy.. I usually sit up near the front because I have hearing problems .. LLL... sounds like you are really happy with the surgery.. I am trying to feel my way around the Verticle sleeve forum.. I am on it but I need and want to read some information on people that are 2 years or more post surgery.. I want to know what kinds of problems are going to pop up in the future.. I just can't seem to find my way around the site very well.. So far, I have been deflated about a full week and still am not having any problems.. Hope it stays that way until at least I see posner on the 29th.. shar ..

I am 61 and am 2 years out from having the band.. I am now having complications with the band and am considering the sleeve. I am trying to find information from people that are at least out 2-3 years to see if there are any comon complications.. I am still deciding whether to throw in the towel and get the band out or get the sleeve.. Actually I am on the side of the sleeve so far.. Please respond .. thank you , shar

Oh, yes, he is very supportive, however, he would have rather me not have had the surgery to begin with.. I had to do alot of fancy dancin to convince him that the band was safe.. He agreed, but, really wasn't in favor.. Now this new thing, it was easier to convince him.. I hate these people that can stay in shape, not over weight w/o much effort.. His whole family is like that.. oh well, can't have it all.. I guess its in the genes !! :smile2:

also, I am planning on eating alot of seafood.. I lv lobster, shrimp and crab.. I refuse to gain any weight on this trip... Well, I am going to try hard not to anyway..:smile2:

Laurie took out 5 1/2 cc's.. according to her, I am totally unfilled. According to everyone I spoke to about cruising, you either luv it or hate it.. mostly they luv it.. I live in Fonthill, Ontario.. Fonthill is between Niagara Falls and Welland.. not far from the rainbow bridge or the peace bridge..but orig from northbuffalo.. I married a canadian and I have been here for about 10 years now..I have had the Ontario health insurance but really never used it because I always had my Com Blue.. I retired from BC BS after 37 years.. But, why should I pay 500 to 600. per month if I really don't have to.. I am going to try out the ontario health plan.. for us its only 500. per year.. My husband has never had a problem with it but he did say that if I have any health issues and we are not happy with the OHIP, I can get the BCBS at any time I want, so we'll see.. Hoping there aren't any problems..

well, my appointment is on Nov 29 with dr posner so I am guessing the decision will be made then.. I think I am for it.. I don't want to be w/o insurance and then decide to get it..I will only have the insurance until the end of next march..reason being is that I have been retired for 5 years come march 2011 and in the package, they will only give us retirees 5 years coverage.. I can pay for it but why should I since I live in Ontario, (US Cit) I have ontario health that I can use goiing forward, however, if anything is done with this problem, I want BGH in charge.. I want to give myself time for post op visits etc.. My cruise is 1 week from today.. I read your post wrong.., I thought you were going at the end of this month.. I finally got on that forum but can't find the part that I can read past posts.. Since I have been unfilled, I haven't had any problems like you did.. I hope it won't happen while I am away.. I got the patches for sea sicknes.., I don';t like water and have never been on a cruise.. but my husband really wants to go and I have been putting him off for so long, when we booked, I really wasn't having any problems.. so here I am.. wish me luck :smile2:

thanks for the advice. as of now, I think I will do it.. I just hope nothing happens while I am away.. that would be a nightmare.. I have been trying to get on the web for the sleeve talk.. but they keep saying that they already have my name and pw and also my e-mail address.. All I need to know is what is the status of these girls that are years out.. Are they still happy ? any regrets or problems.. if problems, what are the most common.. ok, now I understand.. It must have been awful but the more scarry part is that it came out of nowhere.. well, laurie took all saline (almost all anyway)out my band and I need to go back on the 29th to see dr posner. I just pray I don't have any problems because I will be on a cruise for 7 days.. OMG, I can't imagine having problems while I am away.. so far, since last monday, I haven't had any problems.. funny thing though, I still feel some restriction. Thanks for the information.. I will only have my insurance until march of 2011 so I have to make a decision soon..:eek:

Vicki, when you mentioned when you got your revision and gained back 40 lbs, do you mean when you were unfilled before your sleeve ?

ok, here I go.. I haven't posted in awhile because I kindof screwed up my password.. I have been having problems with my band..acid reflux galore and lately some spasms around the band.. I saw dr keith at the last meeting and she suggested I come to see her.. I did that last week.. I also saw dr posner.. They suggested that I have the band deflated and see what happens. I have an appointment with them at the end of this month.. Dr. P also threw out the possibility of the gastric sleeve surgery.. In reading the posts, it seems that those of you that have gotten this sleeve, are very happy about it.. I have even been considering just throwing in the towel and getting the band off.. But you guys sound so positive about this!! I think I need some guidance !! UGHH.. this has been a long journey for me and I really don't want to give up.. Mind you, I am not sorry I got the band .. I would do it again and I really don't want to gain my weight back.. I am now really thinking about the sleeve.. Any advice out there in Bandster land ?:eek:
