Hey all... was not able to get on the Lap-talk forum for awhile but was able to read some your posts.. Rain, congrads.. you must be so happy.. I wish you alot of luck. What happens now, do they have to take the fluid out of the band until you deliver ? Rene, so sorry to hear of your problems.. Hope Caruanna's office does right by you.. The only bad thing that I heard is that their follow-up is not that great, but that was regarding a by-pass patient..But I would think that that was more crucial with their absorption issues than there is with lap-band patients.. But, the best of luck to you. Val, I was there friday also at 8:30 am.. you must have been in later. I had Lori.. She is always very nice. I have really never had a problem with her. Kim, on the other hand, was always kind-of short. She was never rude but she would ask me questions that I would have to think about to really give an honest answer and she would look at me like I am not anwering fast enough.. I like Lori the best. I have been having acid reflux problems at night and have been going thru a bottle of tums like crazy, but mostly only at night. Lori said that its a sign of my band being too tight... sooooo....she took out .5 cc of fluid.. so far, the problem is better, but not yet gone all together. Has anyone of you had this problem ?

How stupid am I ??? I should have known.. but, of course, at my age, that was many moons ago !! . I guess I can't blame my problems on that anymore !! My progress is so slow, its like .5 to 1 lb per 6 weeks down.. but the good thing is that if I hadn't gotten this band.. it would have been at least 1 lb gained per month.. I will be approaching 1 year out in November.. its been a long haul, but, next year at this time, I should be at my goal or pretty near it.. I have been reading the posts and sounds like you guys are doing awesome.. slow is ok.. and also the trick is to keep it off.. I think that its been a success unless you need to get un-filled like a couple of you have, but as soon as you start with the fills again, you get back on track..all is not lost.. just stay healthy.. you don't need any complications with being over-filled..looking forward to seeing everyone at the next meeting.. there is one in october, isn't there ? shar

Maggie, I would deffinately go for the psych exam asap but I would also call the office before you go thru a sleep study.. I don't know why it would be a requirement unless there is a question of sleep apnea or even any snoring.. Going for a sleep study is definately painless but also a definate pain in the BUTT!! If you don't need to, why then ? I would also call first.. shar

When I get that stuck feeling, I absolutely can't take the "rescue sips".. It makes it worse.. I just sit quietly and try to burp and hopefully it doesn't come up.. and it settles down.. you can kind of feel it go thru...it only has happened a few times that it doesn't go away by itself and when I don't feel better w/i about 5 minutes, I go to the bathroom and try to make it come up.. I then feel much better.. but this is so funny and I think that we would all agree that we all are so different and handle the stuck feeling in different ways. Some of the girls can take sips..some bring it up right away and many don't even get stuck !! good luck shar

Val, maybe they ought to give you one of those swallow tests.. Usually you feel that way (so tight) right after a fill.. after your loosing all that weight, I'd hate to get unfilled and start over..let us know what happens at the appointment today. shar

Val, you were doing so good, what happened ? Does it sometimes happen that you get a fill..you are doing fine for weeks and then all of a sudden your too tight ??

Bugs, when did you have the surgery.. If it was recent, the pain is probably the gas..It took me all of about 10 days to get rid of the pain and it really wasn't always in the same area.. After a couple of days of the surgery, I was hungry too.. I had alot of cream of tomato soup.. it really saved me.. But everyone is different.. it'll be ok soon. good luck shar

Rain, no, I have no restriction. I just went for my bloodwork yesterday and I have an appt on July 1st. I hope their not stingy and only give me .5cc.. I think I want a whole one. I even think I have gained 2 lbs in the last week and I don't know why.. I hope its just because it hot out and maybe its water ?? I know that when I walk in the morning, my hands swell up pretty bad. its the first time I have actually gained. I am really disgusted.. shar

Bugs, everyone is different.. I know a couple of Bandsters that went to the support meeting a day after their d/c from the hospital. I think that alone was stretching it, but if you feel well enough and if you are able to leave the concert if you really need to and get away from the crowds getting out, maybe you could.. I didn't feel myself for about 5-7days later.. I was fine around the house but I got tired easy and just didn't really feel up to going out for any long period of time. But, you may be different. If you go, have a good time and bring your drink with you, maybe take liquid tylenol before you leave the house. I hope your not driving. shar

I think they won't give you a fill until you are at least 6 weeks post op.. You can call and have your appt changed for mid july if you want to.. shar

Kathy,yeah he is hot and so is Dr. Hoffman.. They are both good doc's.. I don't know if anyone told you before but be sure you copy any information you give them because sometimes the info is stollen by the BGH Clinic Fairy !! And then its a real pain in the BUTT to duplicate if you need to. Good Luck.. it seems that time will go by quickly once you get your clinic visit which is the phone call you are waiting for.. If you don't get a call by the end of next week, I would call them !! Then they will put you on the south beach diet and you need to loose 5% of your total weight in order for them to schedule surgery after the insurance approval.. good Luck-- try to come to the support group meeting on July 15th 6pm at BGH.. Its also very informative. shar

Joannes, Everyone is different.. You should really try to come to the support meetings and you would really be surprised. Some people loose most in the first 2 months, some loose more slowly, and some don't loose much at all untill they get their first fill. The meetings are the 3rd wednesday of the month at 6pm.. Its fun and everypone is very nice. shar

Vicky, hope all is well.. I now have 5cc and I really don't feel much restriction. I go to the clinic on July 1st and hoping they give me another fill. Maybe that 5.5cc would be the magic number for me too. I really don't want to go thru what you and Rain did with being too full but somethings gotta give.. I am not loosing and really getting discouraged. You really missed a good meeting last night.. Maybe see you at the next one. shar
