  1. True story: I am very self conscious and have had people make rude comments. I have been walking in my home for a starting time of 5 min and now 15. My dog follows and sometimes I talk to him as I walk just to be silly. It beats the treadmill experience by a long shot. Soon I will add another lil activity like a sugar in the wall or a lil stair step. Next week I am doing my first social walk with some women in a Meet Up group.

    Regrets...anyone?

Regret and Shame. I had a Roun Y 23 years ago. The first cpl years were maGical! The weight dropped off, my skin snapped back, I could do any activity I wanted. Then somewhere between 2-5 yr I started having one more bite, a glass of wine, a bite more dessert and so on. I don’t really have dumping or a ton of restrictions. I eat like everyone else eat the table. I started putting on 10 pounds at a time and finally reached my pre op wt. Because I had an open procedure it took a long time to find the right doc to do a safe revision. My revision was last Tue. I will stay true to the guidance for the long haul. It is a precious tool, but I have to take responsibility for what passes my lips. I’m great full for the community and the support.
  3. No give me one moment
  4. So glad you are on something! Hopefully sipping slowly will help. My plan says 4 oz an hour. I am sticking to it with refreshing baby sips. Keep us posted on what works for you. I’m sure it will help another.
  5. Did your doctor give you anything for acid control? Pls let the doc know tmw. In the meantime you might try small sips of water 2-3 oz an hour. It is very small sips but they add up. If it is possible cold pressed coconut water. No pulp no flavor, that might sooth a bit. Go slow, carry on, communicate with your doc. Be Well

Messing up my pre-op diet 😩

YES! I have a co worker having a revision with another doc in town. Her pre and post are totally different than mine. I miss coffee but it was a small sacrifice for a second chance. When you get to the other side just follow the guidelines. Be well!
  7. Hi, I had a revision of a Roun Y on Tue with a hernia repair. The hernia has not slowed my healing a bit. Surgery was Tuesday with an overnight stay. I’m doing light chores, driving and shopping today. My doc keeps us on a liquid diet for 2 weeks and protein drinks. I tried broth, it was ok. But just paid a bit more for Bone Broth… wow! A new favorite! Flavors are wonderful and still on plan. There is never really a great time to take off work for surgery. But you will know the best time for yourself and your family.
  8. Hello! So happy you are doing well. I had my SECOND gastric by pass on Tue. Please allow me to be a cautionary tale for you….. My first surgery was 23 yr ago. I had to travel to have it done and did not have much in the way of follow up. I lost over 150pounds. Then started to regain about 10 pounds a yr. I did not follow the guidelines after the first few years. I ate a cpl bites more, I had cocktails, stopped exercising, drank sparkling water. I struggled so much trying to diet and reverse the cycle. I am a registered nurse and I was unable to take some jobs because they became to physically demanding. I beg you to follow the guidelines of your doctor. Today and forever! You have completely modified your body. If it is not on your list do not let us pass your lips. The quantity and quality of foods today ensure your health and success tmw. Just because you Can eat or drink beyond the recommendation does not mean you Should. I recently read a good book available on Amazon ‘ Bariatric Success’. Be mindful of this incredible tool you worked so hard for. Make the lifestyle changes and enjoy the gift! Tina 2.0 🤗

    Feeling bloated....why ?

If you are drinking Whey that could cause a bloated feeling. The Whey Isolate is the best absorption and variety. But if you become uncomfortable enough that it interfere with your nutrition try a different protein source. ie Pea Protein, egg protein. Your dietitian can help guide you. Don’t let anything get in the way of your success and health.

Messing up my pre-op diet 😩

Hi, the headache is normal. By doing the pre op diet you are switching a lot of things up in your body. No caffeine, anti inflammatory for the liver to calm down before surgery, no or scarce refined sugar can cause withdrawal symptoms. Stay well hydrated! Move! Stay Focused! I have found that Propel and Gatorade Zero replaced my carbonated drinks well. Individual packets are available on Amazon, propel goes into a 16 oz bottle, GZero 22oz water. You might find bone broth or chicken stock more satisfying. Ask your doctor if Miso can be used for 8oz a day. If it’s not on your list don’t have it handy and Don’t put it to your lips. Best of Luck!
  11. Hello All! I had a Roun Y Revision done on April 5. My original procedure was 23 years ago and over time I gained 100% of my weight back. Since my original was a full open surgery I had a hard time finding the right surgeon to revise me. A lot of research, switching ins plans, and a lot of grace….. I found the Right Doctor. I was in the hospital over night. Walking at midnight with my nurse. Completed over a mile of laps around the nurses station before I came home. Since being home I have only taken Tylenol 3x! I am sipping along my clear liquids and feel really good. I really like Bariatric Advantage shakes with water. I plan to lean in to the support available this time.
