Plus when I drink, I get such a full nauseous feeling I get discouraged to drink. I feel like I’m barely drinking enough, but I’m afraid of getting dehydrated and not getting enough nutrition. Advice?
I hope you are feeling better. I know I had a bubble that caused me some discomfort until I could walk it out. I know the nutrition class I had really stressed the importance of getting your Water in after surgery. I am also having issues with that but found drinking flavored water or chicken broth helps me get my fluids in. Since my favorite water (metromint) is no longer made it have bought Mio (or store brand generics) to flavor my bottled water. That has really helped me.
I also take my Multivitamin twice a day (since week 3}.
I hope you are doing well. The phases seem to have gone by quickly for me, I am on week 2 of soft foods now. October 18th seemed so far away before I had surgery, but it is a week away before I can eat regular food. Good luck, you’ve got this😊 -

I made the mistake of ignoring my body’s full signals yesterday and ended up making myself sick. Lesson learned!!!
I had surgery on 9/13 and am down 20 lbs.I think we all have a learning curve to deal with. I am still trying to learn my body’s cues to tell me when I am full. I made the mistake of trying a cookie the other night and paid the price. But I learned my lesson, so that won’t happen again anytime soon.
I am excited for us all. I hope everyone is doing well. -
My MIL had her bypass surgery in her 60s and that was in 2010. She is doing fabulous and it has definitely added years to her life. Her surgeon is the one who preformed my sleeve surgery earlier this month. On 09/22/2022 at 11:46, Giginc said:
Hi,
First of all , am so happy I found this site. I think it will be more than a little helpful!
I am 62 yrs old so anyone my age that is going through or has gone through this I would appreciate any tips you could give. I am looking forward to having energy again and just being able to be healthy. This all started because I have to have my gall bladder removed and they are going to do the Bypass at the same time. I guess I am more nervous about taking all the Vitamins and the liquid portion of the diet. I am finishing up some appointments next week. I am hoping I can do an at home sleep apnea test instead of going in. I still work and wondering about how much time I will need to recover.
I have only told a few close friends and close family but I have'nt told my daughter who is an RN and not a fan of WLS. I am hoping it will not be a difficult conversation.
Thanks again for all the good information! Good luck on your journeys.
I was approved to be off work for 3 weeks, but I know I could have gone back sooner. I have a desk job. I go back this Wednesday. Make sure you do take the time off you need to heal and to adjust to your new eating schedule. I honestly think getting back to work will help me with that schedule. I know I have had a harder time getting my liquids in.
Good luck. I hope your daughter can be supportive. I just know I am thankful my MIL’s is thriving after her surgery and look forward to the same for myself.
Good luck 😊Giginc reacted to this -
This is a topic I need to know about. I love making lasagna cupcakes with wonton wrappers and I wondered if I still could post surgery.😊

You got this. I had mine on the 6th. I go back to work on the 28th. But I am up and about. Just remember to drink and stay hydrated. That has been the hardest part for me,getting my Water in.

How did everything go?

My foot doctor recommends ASICS. He told me to choose running shoes because they are designed to take the pressure. I also where New Balance, but I prefer my ASICS for the treadmill.

I have several playlists made on my Apple Music. Most are based on the artist (Wham!, Midge Ure, and Scorpions) or an 80’s workout, but also they are varied by time. I have a 15 minute one for me to use on breaks at work.

I have Bariastic but actually prefer journaling with pencil and journal just don't have the time. I got a really nice one on Amazon and have been trying to keep up.
I am most nervous about the post-op pureed diet. I am a texture girl and it the thought of puree is giving me major anxiety.
Awesome for your surgery date. I attend my third nutrition class in August to see about the post surgery diet. I am having my husband come along for that.
But I wonder if I need to get a pre-approval from my insurance. I have only called to get the requirements and let my weight loss center know. I did submit my leave of absence to work though. Woohoo! -
My surgery is scheduled for September 6th. I had my initial appointment with my weight loss center on April 1st. I am also using Baritastic. I have used My Fitness Pal previously, but like Baritastic better. I have been slacking a little, but getting back to it. I am nervous, but so excited.

I have been bad. I need to get back in the habit of tracking my meals and Water. Our Thanksgiving plans were upset by my in-laws getting COVID, so we ended up with a Chuck roast for dinner. It was fabulous thousand. Lol I did ok with not overeating, but I have slid and did try a cupcake from the pull apart Turkey I took into work. I need to get back into the gym on a regular basis too. Walking around shopping is not what I need to be doing for exercise. I totally see me transferring my food addiction into more of a shopping addiction.
Sorry this is a longer post, I have had such a hard time figuring out this website, but I know I need to work on that. Still have not received a bill for my surgery, I think it will be totally covered minus the copays I have pad from my dual insurance coverage. That is a major plus.
I hope everyone is doing great and is having a wonderful holiday.
